After watching the pilot online, I'll be the one to gush.
I think that Falco shows more emotional range and is more touching in the pilot than any of the other contenders for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and I think that she should already be considered the front-runner for the Globe, the SAG, and the Emmy in 2010. All that having been said, the show could certainly lose steam and be gone after a season, but, even so, I think Falco's strong performances should be enough to at least get her award show attention next year.
Just got done watching the episode on my IPod and I have to say I was a little underwhelm. Falco is great, but something was just missing for me. The ending makes the show has promise, but other than that this wasn't a great Pilot.

I thought that Edie Falco was spectacular here, though I wasn't quite expecting her character to be as morally compromised as this, with the drug addiction, forgery, theft, and then the ending, which is straight out of the "Mad Men" pilot episode. The supporting cast already looks amazing with another group of actors that I'd like to see have real success, like Haaz Sleiman, Merritt Wever, Eve Best, Peter Facinelli, Anna Deavere Smith, Dominic Fumusa (who I instantly remembered from "Sex and the City" as one of Carrie's ex's that she warned Miranda about how awful he was before they started dating, but Miranda had to find out for herself), and Paul Schulze (the whole time watching them I was thinking, "Carmela's finally boning her priest!"). There's a lot of potential here with what they've mapped out already, and I'm already captivated seeing this new landscape through Jackie's flawed yet knowing eyes. Very strong start.

Synopsis: A black comedy centering on veteran New York City ER nurse Jackie Peyton (3x Emmy winner Edie Falco), who strives to juggle patients, coworkers, and her own personal demons, including a substance-abuse problem. In the pilot episode, she tries to hide her painkiller addiction while dealing with a patient's untimely death.

I watched the pilot on demand yesterday and I didn't really like it at all. Falco did fine with what she was given, but the show itself was so blah and the ending made me almost instantly dislike Falco's character. Although if anyone can turn that around I would think it would be Falco. Hopefully the show will improve by leaps and bounds from here, but based on this episode I won't be championing the show or Falco for any recognition...even though it is likely to come.
I have to say I kind of feel for this show like i do for Californication...don't really enjoy it but the star does the best they can playing an unlikeable character.

Saw the premiere on demand last night and loooooooooved it. It's a great mix of comedy, drama and unexpected surprises. I love the tone and Edie Falco is brilliant.
Hmm, the makings of a great show (or perhaps a very good show) is there, but may it be too obsessed with its own perversion to ever get there. Unless it becomes more self-assured and original Falco is the only major awards the show will see. At least Father Phil finally got him some.
It's certainly is not a comedy. It's has less comedic elements than "House".
I liked it. I think it should compete in drama because it seems to be in that Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal place where you can have a drama with some comedy in it, but at the end of the day it really is a dramatic series.
I think everybody performed well their parts, they seem to have a solid cast...And watching the Pilot there were several scenes where you could see future brilliant moments from Falco, hopefully they will come.
The season previews look wonderful too. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Loved the premiere. It didn't have many laugh out loud moments, i.e., 30 Rock, but Falco really is a strong contender in the Lead Actress Comedy category next year. She was very strong here, with quick wit, one liners, and her way of playing good vs. evil (mostly to help patients), not to mention her own drug use. It's great to see Falco in action again, and the entire season looks promising.
I saw the first two episodes on Demand. I enjoyed each show. It was dark, and quirky. Funny and dramatic. Good show. I think people were expecting some much more cause its Edie Falco, but overall this is a good show. And when did Edie get so damn sexy? She is hot on this show.
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..
I am also excited that the very sexy Haaz Sleiman from "The Visitor" is in this and he is gay!
He's gay on the show or in real life? I had such a crush on him in "The Visitor".

"Nurse Jackie" gets second season Showtime show nurses solid numbers by RICK KISSELL
The prognosis for "Nurse Jackie" is very good.
Showtime has given a second season order to the half-hour Edie Falco starrer that bowed Monday to strong numbers behind the season preem of "Weeds."
"Nurse Jackie" averaged 1.01 million viewers for its premiere 10:30 p.m. airing and then added about 340,000 viewers for an encore. Showtime said the combined 1.35 million viewers for its two airings makes it the network's most-watched series bow to date.
Meanwhile, the 1.22 million viewers for the fifth-season premiere of comedy "Weeds" was the largest aud for a single airing on the pay cabler so far this year.
On the heels of "Jackie's" ratings, Showtime confirmed that it has ordered another 12 segs of from Lionsgate TV. Series, which features Falco as a skilled but highly unconventional, painkiller-addicted nurse, was created by Liz Brixius, Linda Wallem and Evan Dunsky. I decided to check it out nad it was okey, nothing special. Edie Falco was good and the supporting cast looks promising. Oh, and it's definetely not a comedy. It's a drama all the way.
I liked the pilot. Edie was terrific and the supporting characters seem pretty interesting, too. I just wish it was funnier. There were some LOL moments, though. How about "Dr. Cooper grabbed my tit today." Or "That man is incompetent and dangerous."
The previews for the season look strong. I think Showtime may have another hit on its hands.
