This will be the place where the remainder of its season will have its home. So if you're tired of watching Z-listers dance, then check this worthy show out.

Until Britney arrives next week, that is. upchuck

Season 3, Episode 12: No Tomorrow

It's St. Patrick's Day, and apartment woes take up Robin, Lilly and Marshall's time. Ted, OTOH, goes out on a limb. He's not had much luck, women-wise since his breakup with Robin. So he decides to take the road less traveled; to party like Barney just this once.

How in the world did HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER get Britney to guest star, especially at her current state?

One word, two syllables: RATINGS. They're really on the ropes, viewer-wise, thanks to the ass-frakking Dancing with the Nobodies gave them earlier this season. They're on the verge of possible cancellation. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and even if that's cliche', it's come down to that. Unfortunately and sadly.

I can't blame them, as much as I hold my nose at the prospect of that 24-7-365 loop job guest-starring. She's already screwed things up as Alicia Silverstone steered away from what could have been a long-term storyline (i.e. being the 'Mother' of the show's title, perhaps. as a direct result of Spears' casting on the show. But will the ratings bump (if they even get one if viewers have simply had enough of Britney) get them a fourth season?

She is the one that asked them because she was a fan.

I kind of doubt Britney was coherent enough over the past 7 months since the train wreck that was her MTV VMA appearance, to understand anything, let alone know there's a show called HIMYM.

The time off did nothing to improve the writing quality. What a boring and un-funny episode.

Made even more evident by the fact that it was preceded by a much funnier show.

Though it did manage season high ratings, with the BBT lead in, so I'm sure CBS will be pleased.

Yes, I kind of doubt that too. I think the whole situaion is just sad all around. The show for having to resort so low and possibly exploiting the mentally ill (since if she is mentally ill, there's no way she got better that fast). Mostly her though for not getting her life back together until her parents were forced to step back in, which ironically was what lead her to go off the rails in the first place since she was tired of being a performing monkey. (Of course, there may be mental illness there, but I don't think the alcohol and drugs that she did to prove that she was an adult coupled with her seemingly low brain power already did much to help that potential situation either.)

Although I haven't been a fan of Alicia Silverstone's work after Clueless, I'm glad that she had enough integrity to turn down the role after finding out Spears was also going to be on the show. The show might be on the bubble, but her career probably could have used whatever boost it would have given her.

It's actually a little shocking that she hasn't become a bigger star. She's a good actress. And she was amazing and award worthy in MissMatch so it's a shame that she hasn't found a good pilot that will stick because she is definitely capable of headlining a show.

On this episode of HIMYM. I liked it, and it was one of the better episodes of their dismal third season. I thought the apartment storyline was great, especially with the luge, and that the ted/barney storyline was okay, but the best part was when it was over and we saw the lesson learned by ted. I really enjoyed the umbrella touch.

I think part of the problem with this season is that they've put ted and barney together alot which is something we aren't used to seeing. Barney actually works better with marshall, especially robin or lilly. Him and ted, although friends aren't the most entertaining to watch together.

Another problem could be is that with an aimless ted, there's an aimless show. For the first two season's we were rooting for ted to get robin even when we knew they wouldn't end up together. Watching ted date a random assortment of women isn't all that interesting. Having him in a relationship, even if it's a failed one gives ted, and the writers, a purpose and really allows them to find comedic gold. I think if they did that then the show could reach the greatness that it reached last season.

With that being said, i'm still excited for next week. Britney Spears was pretty funny on will & grace. But, the main reason why i'm excited is because of Sarah Chalke, she's one of the funniest ladies on television and one of the best television actresses (who has been woefully snubbed by the emmys), so watching her next week should be a treat.

For the show's sake, I hope this stunt casting that will be unveiled tonight works for it, because despite, IMO, their lapse of good judgement, this is a series worth saving.

Ten Sessions

Ted goes to a dermatologist and has a fancy for her, only to get shot down, Cyndi Lauper style; time after time. Her receptionist, though, is thoroughly charmed by him...

I'm a casual viewer of the show, but have never been too impressed with it. Tonight didn't change that. First off, I thought Britney was sweet, charming and actually quite funny. The last few minutes of the show including Ted's two minute date and Britney's last scenes were well done. The rest of the show was garbage though. The scenes at the bar were terribly unfunny. If the episode solely focused on the doctor's office, I would have been pleased. Overall, the best performance of the night was Sarah Chaulk (too bad she will be overshadowed by the Britney hype). I hope they bring back both the Abby and Stella characters in the future.

Overall Grade: B

Britney: B+ (the only real problam is the girl doesn't know how to hang up a phone! It sounds like she missed the receiver in all her scenes hitme

I loved Sarah Chalke in this role (playing a doctor again, but it works for her). Britney was good but barely there. A fun little cameo that should improve her image a little. It certainly wasn't the funniest but I liked the romantic comedy feel of it. That two minute date thing was absolutely dreadful, though. I don't even know what that was.

I completely agree. I've actually never seen the show before. Yeah, the bar scenes were flat-out awful. For a show that's in its 3rd season, I couldn't believe how unfunny and forced all the punchlines felt. I agree that the doctor office stuff was fine.
You can't really comment too much on Britney because her role was so small, but she serviced the role well. She was charming and funny.
But the real star here was Sarah Chalke. She made this watchable. Thank god, Alicia Silverstone turned this role down because Silverstone would not have been nearly as charming, funny, and radiant as Chalke was. And the 2 minute date was charming as hell.

But yeah, I have no desire to see another episode of HIMYM now.

I'm also someone who's never seen this show before and I thought this episode was good. In the short amount of time she was in this episode, Britney was pretty funny. I don't have one complaint about her. The bar scenes weren't that great. Although I did laugh in that flashback to Barney and Ted making that bet.

Grade: B

I'll come back to this show when Emmy tapes come out.

This just isn't the same show it was in season 1. I think they just need to end it. It's become tiresome and just not funny anymore.

I watched this show on and off and eventually gave up because I just didn't find it even moderately amusing. There was so much support for it around here that I gave it another shot, and, yep, never laughed once.

Neil Patrick Harris is, by far, the best thing about it. He elevates the material impressively. This time around, I am happy to admit I actually laughed during the movie theatre scene ("Ted's a schmuck!").

Agreed that Britney was cute and didn't embarrass herself. Sarah Chalke was lovely and wonderful, with a pitch-perfect light comedic touch. And that two-minute date scene was charming.

But otherwise, the bar scenes were utterly unfunny. I wish I got this show, but I can't get beyond how painfully forced and impressed with itself it feels.

Yeah Sarah was very good tonight. But I agree this show is suffering and The Big Bang Theory is truely the better show now.
