A suprise for each category:

Drama Series: Big Love, Friday Night Lights
Drama Actor: Michael Chiklis - The Shield
Drama Actress: Mary McDonnell - Battlestar Galactica
(I'm predicting this and I don't even watch the series! I think this might be a good alternative to honoring BG without giving it a Drama Series nomination)
Drama Supporting Actor: Walton Goggins - The Shield
Drama Supporting Actress: Connie Britton - Friday Night Lights
Comedy Series: Weeds
Comedy Actor: Zach Braff - Scrubs
Comedy Actress: NONE
Comedy Supporting Actor: Justin Kirk - Weeds
Comedy Supporting Actress: Jane Krakowski - 30 Rock

For Your Grammy Consideration:
Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak
Adele for "Hometown Glory"
Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless
Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight
Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody"
The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' "
Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"

a rejuvinated "Brothers & Sisters" getting more nods than it's ever gotten before:

Drama Series
Lead Actress- Field and Flockhart
Lead Actor- Lowe
Supporting Actress- Griffiths and Wettig
Supporting Actor- Rhys and Annable
Writing

Okay it's probrally not gonna happen but i can dream can't i?

I do think though it's possible that Nicolette Sheridan might sneak into the Supporting Actress category this year. she has some momentum going right now.

Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

I am going to say Big Love will be honoured with at least something for one of its best seasons

Plus the show is sci-fi and you know the Emmys don't go for those shows. Has it ever made the top 10 (cause I don't think so)? If you take the fact that they haven't made the top 10 AND the fact 24 is back in the race, I just don't see how they would get in...plus if the Emmys are looking to reward a show for its final season wouldn't they be more likely to award previous Emmy fav ER? I'm not trying to cause controversy or anything...I'm just curious about the thought process that leads to it getting a nomination other than "its a great show so it should be nominated" cause we know that isn't necessairly how the Emmys work.

You just made me very, very sad. Mostly because what you said is likely to come true.

He'll probably be snubbed for a Tony...Emmy? Not so sure.

Entourage sucked this season anyway.

Drama Series Nominations:
24 (Fox)
Big Love (HBO)
House (Fox)
Dexter (SHO)
Friday Night Lights (NBC)
Mad Men (AMC)
Lost (ABC)

Predict 7 nominations in Drama Series (Given ties), allowing for shows like Friday Night Lights and Big Love to finally breakthrough. Also, Boston Legal will not be back hopefully, given we are no longer on the tape system.

I think that some people are too hopeful with 24. It's been a horrible season just like the one they got snubbed for. Only the White House hostage episodes have been exciting so far. It could happen again and that will be a surprise for some people since I see a lot of Drama Series predictions for it.

Not one of last years show has had a bad season or bad buzz. Shakiest could be Boston Legal and Damages, but even then it's still a bigger possibility for them to get in instead of 24.

Another surprise could be HBO once again left with no Drama nod. No 1 Ladies Agency seem to be its only hope and that might not happen.

I would love LOVE the surprise to be that Big Bang breaks through with nods specially for Jim Parsons. They way The Office and 30 Rock are going, Big Bang has become the best comedy on the air.

I have a feeling that Patrick Swayze will be nominated for Best Actor in The Beast and he will win the Emmy. I haven't seen the show, but I have this feeling, considering his condition.

Battlestar Galactica's nomination may seem a long shot, but I'm still predicting it to happen, just like Star Trek: The Next Generation was on its last season.

I've also considered the idea of Piven not getting in, but the popular vote will help him. But I don't think that will be enough. This could be the year for Neil Patrick Harris, but I don't believe that Two and a Half Men will end without one of the cast members winning at least an Emmy, so this could be Jon Cryer's time...

I don't think that will have much effect. I just think he didn't have a very good season on Entourage.

While I would love to see Battlestar Galactica nominated, I just can't see it. The Wire wasn't nominated in its final season. And it was on HBO and considered one of the greatest television shows ever. Plus, this year you have to contend with ER's swan song. This is getting a TON of buzz, and the episodes have actually been very good. (Not even mentioning ER's past record at the Emmys.)

I would be very happy to see Battlestar nominated. But, yeah, it would definitely be a surprise to me.

BTW, how *was* Star Trek: TNG nominated?? I loved the show and all, but the Emmys? Really?

Edited: Though, I do think it is possible that Mary McDonnell may end up with a surprise nomination.

I can see your point, and E.R. may have some recognition for the final season. I kind of forgot about that.

But don't forget that last year you had the panels. I've never seen the The Wire, but I don't think that submitting the finale helped them. Probably, many voters that were not regular viewers felt confused. Maybe if it was this year, The Wire would've been nominated.

And Mary McDonnell may also be a big surprise, and may have a better shot than the show. She made the Top 10 last year, and without the panels she could be a really good surprise in the category.

While some people will agree w/ you about 24 having a bad season (I don't. I think it's been a very strong season so far), it doesn't have the bad buzz this year. There are detractors, sure, but the buzz this year is that it's having a comeback season. There have been many articles about 24 being rejuvenated this year, and it's had much more positive press than shows like House or Boston Legal. Season 6 was maligned by EVERYONE, not just a few people. This season is more like seasons 3 and 4 which had detractors, but were still considered successes by the majority of fans and critics. I'm not saying your wrong to dislike season 7. I'm just saying the popular critical opinion is that 24 is better this year.

As for the other shows on the roster, Mad Men, Lost, Damages, and Dexter are all safe. Boston Legal is critic/buzz proof, so its nomination depends on whether the Academy remembers it or not. House, however, has come under fire pretty hard this season from critics and fans alike for turning into the 13 show. That's a show I'm predicting may fall out of the top 6 based on bad buzz.

ER's had their chance, and they overstayed their welcome by 5+ years. They've had their share of Emmys. And they're part of the old guard that's pretty much ruined watching the awards themselves because everybody knows the same old shows and people are going to win.

I think it would be an earthquake of a surprise if Party Down made it in comedy series or any of the major categories (writing, directing, guest actor and actress). The potential is there, and Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune concurs with me that this show is the Anti-'Entourage'.

BSG cleaning up like they should this summer will only be a surprise to those who never saw the show, or who dismiss it out of hand as, egads, 'sci-fi'. It perhaps had the best series finale of any show since MASH, IMO. They should be nominated for 20+ Emmys this year. Don't the Academy realize they have no street cred when they keep snubbing this show? It would be disheartening for the Ladies Detective Agency to get a series nomination on its first try SOLELY because it's on HBO. And it's a limited series at best (only 7 episodes). Also an unwelcome surprise; to nominate True Blood for any Emmy after screwing Joss Whedon for years out of nominations for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That would be a slap in the face.

It is a show on STARS about people who work for a Hollywood catering company and are trying to make it in the the entertainment business. It got pretty good reviews but as it is on STARS I do not think it has any chance for Emmy noms.
