I was only talking about acting nods. I unfortunately predict it to get series, writing, directing, and technical nominations too. Even though the show is a snooze fest that I can't get into because it's boring lol. Oh well, it'll probably win best drama again. That'll suck.

24Emmy, where's your spirit????

24 is winning Best Drama this year! Come on now! If you don't get jazzed about that, who will?

Forget these Mad Men fanboys. It's all about 24 this year.

If 24 even gets nominated, I'll eat my shoe. Stop trying to make 24 happen; it's not happening.

24 will NOT be getting that many nominations. Maybe series, possibly Sutherland, but that's it.

To think it would be nominated in any of the other major categories is kinda laughable.

Kiefer Sutherland and Simon Baker both getting in for Best Drama Actor, which means that apart from James Spader somebody else has got to go. My money's on Gabriel Byrne. Because Hall, Laurie, and Hamm are the locks for me.

Paquin replacing her movie mom for Best Drama Actress, Mariska bowing out and 2 Mad Men ladies getting in.

No Damages love for Best Supporting Actor Drama (sorry Mr. Hurt!), which leaves the field wide open for newcomers. And giving us a 10th different winner for the only category with no repeats this decade. For this one the Emmys always get it right, so can it be Goggins for the swan song of The Shield?

And for Best Supporting Actress Drama Heigl coming back and winning the damn thing for a second time.

Oh, and the biggest shock of all. One of the little shows for Drama Series (Damages or Dexter) will be out for a big ratings show. Could it be the #1 new drama with the big and buzz-full star? Think CSI when it first premiered, popular vote = huge ratings show getting in.

What is going to be the big surprise come nomination day?

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency rises with front-and-center nominations: drama series, directing [pilot, by the late Anthony Minghella], writing [pilot, from Richard Curtis and Minghella], lead actress [Jill Scott], supporting actress [Anika Noni Rose], and guest actress [CCH Pounder].

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency turns out to be the only best-drama contender from HBO in a season that has many thinking the respected pay-channel would see the higher-profile In Treatment and/or True Blood emerge instead (they'll get other bids in notable races).

My own suggestion: What should be the big surprise come nomination day?
The drama lead-actress race doesn't give us an auto-pilot-like list of the safe selections. Instead, it rocks with the likes of Angela Basset [ER], January Jones [Mad Men], Regina King [Southland], Anna Paquin [True Blood] and, as mentioned above, Jill Scott [The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency]. (I'll leave that sixth nod up to others' suggestions.)

However, I do think FNL is up for a nomination this year, whether it's for series, Kyle Chandler or Connie Britton, I'd bet one of those three happen this year. They've been pushing hard for it this year.

I don't know. I have a feeling they won't get any kind of major love until its last season. (Not that I'm saying they should!! You hear me Emmy voters! Don't wait!)

But if it actually does happen this year I will legit flip out and fanboy my ass off like there's no tomorrow.

I feel like both last year and in its first, it was EXTREMELY close to scoring a Drama Series nomination...thanks to NBC having no other major contenders for that category. It did make the Top 10 two years running! With the whole DirecTV thing this year, who knows? Maybe FNL will suprise and finally pull off that nomination!

William Hurt would be a newcomer lol.

Also for 24, I can definitely see Cherry Jones nab a nomination, I am predicting it. series + Kiefer + and her, woo.

Down with the snoozefest aka Mad Men!

Go 24! Damages! Boston Legal! Dexter! Lost! Take Mad Men down! hehe.

How would those nominations be showing very little love? As competitive as the drama catagories are getting three major acting nominations is pretty damn good. At three they'll still have the most major acting nods of any drama series. Though I'm predicting Hendrinks will get in there.

Congrats Kristen! All the PD haters can (SPOILER ALERT) Suck it!

For 24Emmy, William Hurt would be a newcomer, but Damages took 2 spots on this category last year. I dont' think Ted Danson will repeat and Mr. Ivanek already died on the show, so there's no chance he'll be here again (don't think the Heroes work will grant him another nomination).

I love 24, but the only time the supporting players broke through was on season 5 with Smart and Itzin getting nominations. This year Cherry Jones and Annie Wersching (her face inside a plastic bag still haunts me) getting in would be great.

sohappy sohappy sohappy sohappy sohappy

I so completely agree.

And, of course, Jon Voight is getting in for Guest Actor, and Kiefer for Actor.

But I also think that as good as Itzin and Smart were, that warranted their nominations, so, too, are Jones and Wershing.

Not to say that Carlos Bernard wasn't also awesome (I'm so rooting for him), but without Wershing and Jones, it would just be a crime.

Yeah, it's a shame Annie Wersching doesn't have more buzz. I think Supporting Actress Drama is the most competitive category of the year with amazing performances from Sandra Oh, Rose Byrne, Maura Tierney, and Wersching for sure, and great performances from people like Heigl, Wettig, Jones.
Wersching was the MVP of 24. She was the heart and soul of the show this season. And I think people don't realize how freakin difficult that role was too pull off. Within the first couple hours of the season, she had to quickly establish herself as a strong interesting heroine that we were cheering for. In a male-dominated show, that wasn't easy to do. We saw Cuthbert and Raver fall flat on their face in earlier seasons (although Raver did totally redeem herself in season 5).

Grammy FYC:
Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"

Lost probably will only have one acting nominee - Michael Emerson, although his tape last year was better. Terry O'Quinn took himself out. Drama supporting actress is too competitive for Mitchell, Kim, and Lilly to get in. As for the first two, Mitchell has good material and Kim's best shot was last year.

So, despite the fact that at this minute NO ONE ELSE IS PREDICTING HER, I think she has a chance for a nom. Unlike any of the other Supporting Actress possibilities (other than maybe Rose Byrne), Wershing was practically a lead. (Always a plus in this category.) Plus, she has killer tapes, SEVERAL killer tapes. She was nearly killed (put in a plastic bag); she had to hold a baby at gunpoint, while it was killing her conscience; she learns over the phone that her partner died, and she cries like I've seen no one cry on camera, stunning, stunning work.

You could argue (and I am arguing) that no one really put their emotions front and center on 24, which is why no one (other than Kiefer) got nominated.

Jean Smart and Gregory Itzin were absolutely impossible to ignore in Season 5. They made you feel things that other 24 actors had not (even with Nina's stellar turn by Sarah Clarke). Smart and Itzin were unavoidable. So, too, is Wershing, I believe.

This, I believe, is also why Aaron Paul is getting such buzz now. If you watch his performances, you can't avoid the quality of his work, and what he's being asked to do.

Annie Wershing. Anyone who's seen 24 this season can only say WOW. sohappy

First of all, Evangeline Lilly is competing (as she should be) in Actress LEAD, not supporting. And she's getting in there.

I agree that Yunjin Kim is not getting in, and sadly, probably not Elizabeth Mitchell either (too many other great Supporting performances, and no Not in Portland this year).

And I disagree that only Michael Emerson deserves to be in Best Supporting Actor. Josh Holloway deserves to be running in LEAD instead of Matthew Fox, but since he isn't, he's guaranteed a slot in Supporting Actor, since he shone this season on Lost.

Totally agree with Josh Holloway. I like how the writers of the show have given almost all of the core cast at least one incredible storyline over the past 5 years.

But Drama Supporting Actor is already difficult, and I think Goggins was stronger this season, add that to the snub for last season and maybe you've got some final season buzz that can translate into a nomination.
