I'm not 100% sure that No 1 Ladies Detective Agency will get any nominations, let alone all these major nominations that people are talking about.
But i do think one name people will be stunned to hear called is Debra Messing for "The Starter Wife" although not a great series i believe is good enough to get Messing a nod, possibly knocking out a contender from last year- perhaps Christina Applegate or America Ferrera.

Anything beyond directing will be a surprise. The only buzz that that show has is from Tom O'Neil.

No offense to Tom who i adore but that's the feeling i'm getting as well. I really haven't seen any other critics discussing it or really mentioning it at all.

However, I do think FNL is up for a nomination this year, whether it's for series, Kyle Chandler or Connie Britton, I'd bet one of those three happen this year. They've been pushing hard for it this year.
I don't know. I have a feeling they won't get any kind of major love until its last season. (Not that I'm saying they should!! You hear me Emmy voters! Don't wait!)
But if it actually does happen this year I will legit flip out and fanboy my ass off like there's no tomorrow.
I feel like both last year and in its first, it was EXTREMELY close to scoring a Drama Series nomination...thanks to NBC having no other major contenders for that category. It did make the Top 10 two years running! With the whole DirecTV thing this year, who knows? Maybe FNL will suprise and finally pull off that nomination!
I think I remember Tom or someone else saying that for its first season, it "just missed" getting a nomination for best drama series. Maybe it was the first one left out that year. Who knows how close it actually is.

Hopefully "Big Love" can break through and get nominated for something. I figure a major nomination is impossible, but maybe a directing or writing nod. Everything about that show is so consistently top-notch, someone eventually has to recognize it, right?
Boidiva02, i agree with you about Debra Messing. I too see her name being called on Emmy nom. day. I also would not be surprised to see Judy Davis nominated in the supporting comedy actress field. Both are emmmy favorites and past winners.
Okay, this kind of just came to me, but since these are being decided by popular vote, does anyone think Grey's Anatomy could sneak into drama series? It is one of the most popular dramas on TV and it already got two nominations. The panel did them in last year since their tape was horrible but we don't know what the popular vote was. We don't really know if the voters are really "over" the show or not. I don't know, maybe I'm just getting paranoid.

No I don't think you are...it isn't in my predictions however it is completely possible (and probable) that they were in the top six based on pop. vote last year so it isn't completely unrealistic that they would be there again. I think there are going to be several suprises come nomination day as to what is "popular" and what isn't

Some of this is the same for House. I am predicting In Treatment over it because my gut says that it is on the rise, but the reason in me says that it will not beat House in a popular vote, which is how the nominees are being decided.

It is possible (unfortunatly), but given the other quality dramas that are in contention this yr., I would hope that that would outweigh whatever popularity this show still has w/the voters.

Ever since I learned that this year it was going to be 100% popular vote, I've been sure that Grey's Anatomy is gonna make it. It's one of the highest rated shows on TV, unlike In Treatment, which for me is still just a niche show. Honestly, what HBO has reached The Sopranos or Sex and The City levels of popularity?

Agreed. NCIS ended on the Top 10 this year, and I don't believe that it'll be nominated solely on this.
But Grey's Anatomy was at the peak of its popularity on seasons 2 and 3 and it gained a lot of Emmy attention then. This year many critics have said it was a return to form for the second half of the season.
So my point is that it's great when popularity meets quality and Emmy worthiness. What other show has that right now? From the possible nominees, House, Lost, and 24. So why not Grey's Anatomy?
