Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Jane Krakowski for playing Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock
Jean Smart for playing Regina Newly on Samantha Who?
Kristen Wiig for playing various characters on Saturday Night Live
Vanessa Williams for playing Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty

I think these four will be in for sure and the two noms will be filler like Holland Taylor and someone else. I am hoping that Nicollette Sheridan's exit will be good and huge enough to get her an overdue nomination. And my pipe dream choices would be Jennifer Esposito, Melissa McCarthy, Becki Newton, & Sarah Chalke.

G'Day,

Drama Series
smart money has to be on the 6 nods from last year, all are back and most with strong seasons.

However, there are big question marks all around:

House is having a weak season and may have been relying on the panels so it could be out.

Lost isn't an accesible show and is having its most confusing season ever, are voters keeping up?

How will the flat out popular vote effect the cable series Damages and Dexter?

Will Boston Legal be remembered and was it relying on the panel?

24 and ER are past winners back in fine form and both could break back (24 more likley as it won more recently).

Mad Men is the only lock here. Currently I think 24 bumps House.

Comedy Series

this is a bit more easy. The Office and 30 Rock are locks. If Entourage could get in last year (I doubt it was on the panel) then this year it has a good chance as well. Weeds has been a consistant top 10 performer, seems to have alot of support now and likley was severly hurt by the tape system.

The 2 big questions are:

How much was Two and a Half Men carried by the panel?

What will fill the last 1 or 2 slots?
Can Scrubs get back in the race, will Pushing Daisies be completly forgotten, Flight of the Conchords could break through and there's always Ugly Betty.

I'd say due to a weak field 2.5 Men should be safe and Scrubs will probably be back.

It's possible the last season DVD of Boston Legal will come out during the voting period. But of course if it couldn't win Best Drama because its a popular vote how would get nominated in a purely popular vote.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

It's not popular vote to win, each series submits 3 tapes with 2 episodes on each and the tapes are randomly sent to voters who have to watch them. Boston Legal has quite a few things going for it and with 3 killer tapes Boston Legal could pull an upset, but my money is on Mad Men at the moment.

Being the final season may hurt its exposure but being the last season can also help a series, give it more nostaiggic weight and have voters realise it is the last time to honor it.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series
Alec Baldwin for playing Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock
Zach Braff for playing Dr. John "J.D." Dorian on Scrubs
Steve Carell for playing Michael Scott on The Office
David Duchovny for playing Hank Moody on Californication
Tony Shalhoub for playing Adrian Monk on Monk
Charlie Sheen for playing Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men

I think Jim Parsons could slip in somewhere. I would take out Tony & Charlie in place for him.

I'm mostly interested in seeing if 24 gets back into the drama race and if so who it bumps...and then I'm always interested in supporting categories as they always seem to have the most changes in them. I'm sure most of the lead races & best comedy will be the same stuff as last year.

Huh? If anything, William Hurt has been the opposite of hammy on Damages, and I'm actually concerned that he'll be left out for that exact reason!

William Hurt hasn't had that scene yet on Damages to warrant a nomination...Timothy Olyphant has been more intriguing.

I have to agree that I have not been impressed w/him (William Hurt) on Damages. Same goes for Marcia Gay Harden (who I love).

Hurt and Harden especially haven't gotten the material they really deserve. Hurt could have gotten some really good stuff but the minute things got really good with his character he vanished for 4 episodes. Hurt makes the cut for me, but I can't say the same for Harden.

As of now, I'm only doing what I think should happen in Drama Lead Actress.

Lead Actress - Drama
Angela Bassett in ER
Connie Britton in Friday Night Lights
Glenn Close in Damages
January Jones in Mad Men
Mary McDonnell in Battlestar Galactica
Kyra Sedgwick in The Closer
