If McCain loses the election, SNL should get Sarah Palin to be the host sometime this season. She seems like she's game for making fun of herself and she couldn't possibly be any worse than Michael Phelps.
Anyway, that Weekend Update song was hilarious, and further proof how badly Amy Poehler is going to be missed when she leaves the show.

And, I have never heard of Adele before until tonight, and I thought she performed tons better than Duffy did a couple of weeks ago (and I love Duffy!), so I will probably be downloading a few of her tracks for sure.

I am in the minority in thinking the episode was mediocre ("The Fartface" sketch was one-note and went on way too long... Josh Brolin was merely OK as a host... I personally find Kristen Wiig half funny/half annoying with her freaky caricatures so her skits often don't do as much for me as they do others on this site... "MacGruber" is always a pretty lame bit) but the Amy Poehler rap was brilliant. It was right up there with the Tina Fey-Sarah Palin sketches.

Thank God for Sarah Palin otherwise this episode would've bombed. Kristen Wiig must be thanking her lucky stars that she had that Suze Orman sketch to follow the Oh My God lady because Oh My God lady fell FLAT. Orman was perfect however.
I'm not gonna echo the praises for the cold open and the Weekend Update. It's all been said.
Josh Brolin was game for tonight and performed well in the sketches, but they were soooo poorly written. Fartface blew, Oh My God lady tanked, MacGruber was bleh, Amy Poehler was funny being pregnant but that's just because she's Amy Poehler, and even the monologue sucked. I've been lovin' SNL this season but I think two episodes a week is wearing them thin. Though ironically the strongest parts of the episode were the cold open and Weekend Update, which are the only two sketches that are duplicated on the Thursday showing.
When I made my last comments I hadn't seen the final sketch yet- "The Fall Foliage" bit. What the hell was even supposed to be funny about that? And where did that rape joke come from? I think that sketch alone lowers my overall grade from mediocre to weak no matter how good the Amy Poehler rap and Adele were.

Lorne Michaels gave an equal amount of money to the campaigns of John McCain (R) and Christopher Dodd (D). He said it was strictly because they are both good friends of his and have supported him over the years. They both also appeared on a Kennedy Center tribute to him a few years ago. From what I have heard, he is a staunch liberal.
Also, campaign laws state that they will have to at least offer equal time to Joe Biden anyway.
This was one of their best episodes so far this season. Josh Brolin was a game host that seemed willing to do anything, so that was good. The show handled Sarah Palin's appearance well, and again Tina Fey was stellar in her brief scenes ("Now I'll do some pageant moves for you"). I wished that her scenes could have been longer, or that the feed could have stayed at the end more to see some type of scene with Palin and Fey talking together. There was a missed opportunity for Palin to impersonate Fey -- I liked the "have a pleasant tomorrow" line, but they could have done a "30 Rock" spoof with Alec Baldwin there or something with her playing Liz Lemon, and that would have been a perfect way to do some needed advertising for the new season. Baldwin was funny with his scenes mistaking Palin for Fey, and the Mark Walhberg bit with Andy Samberg was hilarious. Loved that he could make light of the whole "talking to animals" sketch from last week, and that "say hi to ya motha!" line is still great. "I produce 'Entourage'."
Amy Poehler's rap during Weekend Update was the highlight of the episode, and with it she has another tape submission for next year. Kristen Wiig was on fire too with playing the surprise lady again and Suze Orman. I couldn't believe some of the lines they got away with for the Orman sketch. She was also great on Thursday's show playing that confused McCain/Palin fan. Bill Hader's British accent guy was another strong impression for him that I hope he does more of. Adele was one of the best musical guests the show's had on in a long time. It's great that she's getting exposure, and the crowd seemed to adore her. I wished that she had performed "Hometown Glory" though for the second number. That's a showstopping kind of song that's even better than her first number. Now that's she's finally being noticed on here, check out her debut album -- it's called "19" and it's wonderful. Loved this episode, though I'll try to edit out all of those lame MacGruber sketches that got progressively worse the more that they did, and that "Fart Face" one was ridiculously bad. Those prevented the episode from getting an A, but still a strong episode all the same.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!
