Tina Fey really can have a field day with this one. Make it happen, Lorne!
SO funny you say that, i was thinking today that Tina Fey would make a great Sarah Palin. they look very similar.
you know who i'd like to see host: Julia Louis-Dreyfuss. Her shows a hit and moving to a new night so it needs to exposure and JLD is excellent at improve, i'd love to see it happen.
I'm With Coco... Down with Leno.

She hosted less than 2 years ago, so she might not be used so soon.
I still reckon NBCU will put one of the actors from one of the Universal fall movies, to do the usual self-promotion.

Hmm...actors in Universal fall movies?
Dennis Quaid in THE EXPRESS Greg Kinnear, Lauren Graham, Dermot Mulroney and Alan Alda from FLASH OF GENIUS Angelina Jole, John Malkovich, Amy Ryan and Jeffery Donovan from CHANGELING Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Kevin Bacon and Oliver Platt from FROST/NIXON Matthew Broderick, Dustin Hoffman, Sigourney Weaver and Stanley Tucci from THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX
At the moment, I'd be leaning towards either Amy Ryan or Greg Kinnear. Greg's got Ghost Town for Paramount opening this month plus Flash of Genius next month. Unless they want to surprise us all and pick Lauren.

Anyone see any worhy hosts in there?
Since they used Tina Fey this year to boost Baby Mama ads and Jonah Hill for Sarah Marshall, I'd be willing to guess we'll see Paul Rudd host the weekend of Nov. 1st (Uni is opening its R-rated comedy Role Models on Nov 7th and SNL will likely be dark on the 8th.)
That's more along the lines of what Universal would platform on SNL (promote the comedy film on the comedy show) than Frost/Nixon or Changeling (unless they somehow twist Jolie's arm into doing it.)

Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels said the show is talking with Tina Fey about playing Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin at some point this season, possibly as soon as this Saturday's season premiere.
"There are discussions [with Tina]," Michaels said during a conference call with reporters. "They are ongoing.”
Rumors have been swirling that Fey will portray Palin, at least for the season premiere, following an interview with 24-year-old SNL scribe Simon Rich in New York magazine. Fans online have posted pictures of Fey next to Palin, pointing out similarities.
Michaels isn’t hedging all of his bets on Fey, however. He said current cast member Casey Wilson has read for the part of Palin.
In addition to bringing back Fey, Michaels added that he would like to bring back former cast member Maya Rudolph to play Michelle Obama, although that has not been finalized.
I'm glad Tina will be playing Palin. There really was no other choice.
I think they're going to have to find someone else to play Michelle Obama. Since Maya Rudolph was so gung-ho about leaving the show, I don't think she'll be back for a long, long time.

Name 2.
Casey Wilson would be ok I think. Sure Tina looks more like her but it'd be nice to see Casey taking on a major impression and she's certainly capable.
Wiig could do Palin...just not as good a match as Tina and Casey.
Amy Phoeler could play her pregnant daughter :P

Agreed if she had any SNL background I'd imagine Lorne Michaels would call her up. She's funny too.

I would have given you Mary McDonnell or even Peggy from King of the Hill. But Sarah Silverman...no.
Ok you're naming actresses. I can't believe you think any of them (with the exception of Megan Mullally) is more of a match than Tina Fey.
Not everyone has to think that Tina Fey is the be all and end all. Are you Alec Baldwin?
I simply think all of those actresses have some spunk in them that could work. And I'm not talking about the spunk that Samantha was referring to on Sex and the City.

Yup. I'm Alec Baldwin.
I never said she was the be all end all. I was just pointing out that they look very very very much like Sarah Palin. I wouldn't expect her to play Michelle Obama, nor Cindy McCain nor anyone else.
If your point is that there are plenty of actress out there more talented than Tina Fey, I agree with you wholeheartedly. In fact you've named some very talented (though physically unqualified for the role) actresses.
Heck with your logic, Tom Hanks is a great actor. He has spunk. He could do it!
Sorry for being brash, but I refuse believe you hold a grudge against Tina Fey so deep that you can deny their physical resemblance.
I can't see this discussion going anywhere else so new subject: What do people think of Lorne's comment that he's pursuing ex-cast member Maya Rudolph? I think she'd be perfect, but I can't imagine her returning after leaving on a slightly bitter note.
