The first four episodes haven't been commented on and I'll add some stuff later, but here is the synopsis for tonight's fifth episode.
"Dignity"
A doctor who performed late-term abortions is found slain at a church, and the man's wife accuses a pro-life protester of the murder. Meanwhile, Lt. Van Buren receives troubling news, and Connie deals with a moral crisis.
I thought he was meh. He was on the best seasons though so he benefitted greatly from that.
I thought the cancer announcement from Anita was delivered very well from S. Epatha Merkerson

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

A slain fashion-company owner puts detectives in the path of a photographer (Jeremy Beiler) who points them toward a Web site marred by threatening posts. Sid Maxwell: Rene Ifrah. TV Guide.
The slaying of a witness in a murder trial kicks off an investigation that exposes a conspiracy rife with affairs, black-market dealings and drug cartels, and creates a predicament for ADA Connie Rubirosa and the remaining witnesses. TV Guide.
Alana de la Garza has been WONDERFUL this season. She should get some Emmy consideration, along with Merkerson. They won't, but they should. de la Garza may move into my top 3 of ADAs, knocking down Angie Harmon. Jill Hennessey was always my fave and I used to think Carey Lowell was boring. But when I watched the repeats on TNT, I gained a much greater respect for Lowell as Jamie Ross.

Agreed. She has been excellent this year, as has the whole cast really. This current group of actors and writers has really made some compelling television over the past two years or so.
An elderly man is forced to defend his shop from an armed robbery. The resulting investigation has Lupo and Bernard probing ulterior motives for the crime. TV Guide.
Alana de la Garza was good in the 11-13-09 episode . The ADA turned Defense atty was such an obvious slimeball that the whole episode was damaged but she was good.

Yeah, he was an obvious guilty slimeball. But they had to find a way to nail him, which involved Rubirosa putting herself at risk. I do wish L&O was on the radar. She has a couple of good tapes, as does Merkerson.
