Throughout the 2006-2007 television season, please claim a space on this thread and offer your episode analysis for all of the shows you view. Since the Emmy cycle is June 1, 2006 through May 31, 2007, we will use those dates as well for this thread.

Feel free to offer your grades for each episode (and analysis if you want). As you watch more and more episodes and programs, just keep adding to your master post. You will really appreciate following through on your actions when it comes time to predict awards nominations/wins and to offer your own end-of-year favorites.

The Sopranos
12. "Kaisha" (C-)
boring, meandering, and just plain bad

Entourage
1. "Aquamom" (B+)
lame mom plot, but still a lot of fun

Rescue Me
1. "Devil" (A-)
great start; ending's a little predictable
2. "Discovery" (A)
possible tape for Leary; amazing ending

The 4400
1. "The New World" (B-)
terrorist subplot was ok; Lily's plot sucked

DEADWOOD:
1. "Tell Your God to Ready for Blood" (B)
not great but possible submission; no acting tapes; Gerald McRaney great guest star
2. "I Am Not The Man You Take Me For" (A)
great ensemble piece with McShane & Weigert as stand-outs; possible writing & directing nods
3. "True Colors" (C)
muddled and boring; good work from McRaney but not really anybody else
4. "Full Faith & Credit" (C+)
enjoyable comedic moments but sloppy plot; Olyphant was the MVP
5. "Two-Headed Beast" (A)
best of season; MVPs were Brown & McRaney; possible writing & directing noms
6. "A Rich Find" (B)
great guest work by Gooding & King
7. "Unauthorized Cinammon" (A-)
loved the scene with everybody at the meeting
8. "Leviathan Smiles" (C)
a big jumbled mess of an episode; hopefully worst of the season
9. "Amateur Night" (B+)
great ensemble episode; McRaney definitely deserves a nom
10. "A Constant Throb" (A)
second best episode of year; MVPs were Parker & McShane; Brown deserves writing nod
11. "The Catbird Seat" (A)
riveting episode; great ensemble work

ENTOURAGE:
1. "Aquamom" (B)
sets up season but not great; no acting tapes; Mercedes Ruehl & James Woods great guests
2. "One Day in the Valley" (A-)
definite improvement with nice work from Kevin Dillon
3. "Dominated" (D)
worst episode in a long time; Piven's worst performance; hated the guest actor
4. "Guys & Doll" (B)
getting back on track; good ensemble piece; hopefully Dom is gone now
5. "Crash & Burn" (A-)
great & very inside-Hollywood; funny cameo by Paul Haggis
6. "Three's Company" (B)
not the best but very solid
7. "Strange Days" (B)
good to see McDowell back and more agency plot
8. "The Release" (A)
definitely a submission for Piven; great episode
9. "Vegas Baby, Vegas" (A-)
one of their best "road" episodes; Dillon deserves Emmy attention
10. "I Wanna Be Sedated" (B)
very little Piven but decent episode; guest nod possible for Martin Landau
11. "What About Bob? (B)
Landau almost assured of guest nod now; weak Turtle storyline

THE SOPRANOS:
12. "Kaisha" (C)
muddled half-season ender; possible Imperioli tape; Julianna Margulies great guest star

WEEKLY UPDATE: MY RANKINGS
Note: These are not predictions for the Emmys, just merely my own rankings if were to give awards right now.

Updated: 4/8/07

BEST DRAMA SERIES
1- FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
2- THE WIRE
3- LOST
4- THE SHIELD
5- THE TUDORS

BEST COMEDY SERIES

1- THE OFFICE
2- 30 ROCK
3- SCRUBS
4- WEEDS
5- ENTOURAGE

HBO

DEADWOOD
"Tell Your God to Make Read for Blood" A
"I Am Not the Fine Man You Take Me For" A-
FYC: McShane, Weigert
"True Colors" B-
FYC: McShane
"Full Faith and Credit" B
FYC: Olyphant
"A Two-Headed Beast" A
FYC: McRaney, Writing
"A Rich Find" B+
FYC: King (Guest)
"Unauthorized Cinnamon" A-
"Leviathan Smiles" B
"Amateur Night" A
FYC: McRaney
"A Constant Throb" A
FYC: Parker and Weigert
"The Catbird Seat" A+ -- Outstanding-- this season really hit its stride in these final episodes...
FYC: Writing, McShane, Parker, McRaney
"Tell Him Something Pretty" A+ Great season finale in the typical DEADWOOD fashion!Best scenes: Sol and Trixie at the door, the voting scene with Steve and N*** General, and Bullock and Alma's shared look as she left the camp
FYC: McShane (should probably be his submission episode), McRaney, Writing

ENTOURAGE

"Aquamom" A- -- good season premiere, not a submission episode, though
"One Day in the Valley" B Entertaining, nothing spectacular
"Dominated" D Worst episode of Entourage ever... Short, uninteresting, and Dom is especially annoying
"Guys and Doll" C Well Dom left, so that's good, right? Still not rising to the level I expect...
"Crash and Burn" A This is the Entourage I miss!
FYC: Jeremy Piven (great to see Ari dealing with his daughter), Adrien Grenier (great at the end)
"Three's Company" B+ Not bad... This show is at its best when Ari, Eric, and Vince are dealing with movie deals
"Strange Days" B
FYC: Piven (He's really the only reason I watch this show-- has some good scenes with his old nemesis here)
"The Release" A Best episode of the season!
FYC: Piven (definitely a submission episode) and Grenier (best acting I've seen from Grenier when he speaks at the press conference)
"Vegas, Baby, Vegas!" B+ About as good as the show can get when it relies only on its characters... The Hollywood storylines-- especially Ari at work in LA-- are the only times this show is really very good.
FYC: Kevin Dillon
"I Wanna Be Sedated" B- So little Ari? What were they thinking? Actually this episode is okay despite Piven's absence, but really Eric's story is the only one worth following here. Vince's story was just a filler--what a shame!
FYC: Martin Landau (Guest)
"What About Bob" B+ Despite the waste of time that was Vince and Turtle's quest for shoes , Drama's pilot shoot and Eric and Ari's attempt to score Vince a project made for an excellent episode.
FYC: Jeremy Piven (again-- though he still doesn't have a winning tape), Kevin Dillon (He may actually be a contender next year-- two good submission episodes now), Martin Landau (Guest)
"Sorry, Ari" A This is a great episode... individually. It has focus, good acting, scattered funny lines...basically what Entourage is when it's at the top of its game. Still (and I'll discuss this more below) the storyline across the season to this finale is not coherent. Vince basically screws himself several times, leaving Ari with few options, then the second Ari screws up, Vince decides to fire him? Still...
FYC: Jeremy Piven (who else really has a shot? Dillon maybe, but I doubt it)

THE WIRE

"Boys of Summer" A Very good beginning to the season.
FYC: Aidan Gillen (as supporting)
"Soft Eyes" A+ Brilliant! The parallels between the kids and politicians were really well done, as was the debate montage at the end of the episode.
FYC: Writing, Aidan Gillen
"Home Rooms" B+
"Refugees" A-
"Alliances" A+ This show is amazing! I've never been more moved by a TV show-- it makes me sad and angry then offers a few moments of comedy in the midst of such a horrific setting. Everything just fits together so beautifully and tragically: really stunning.
FYC: Writing
"Margin of Error" A+ Best episode of the season so far... I'm fascinated as to where the rest of the season will go now that the election is already over.
FYC: Aidan Gillen (He's excellent in this role, truly one of the best supporting characters on TV right now.)
"Do Unto Others" A-
"Corner Boys" A
--MISSED AN EPISODE--

"Misgivings" A What an ending-- that was so brutal: it challenges Deadwood's eye-popping scene for most well-crafted, yet disgusting TV scene of the year.
"A New Day" A
"That's Got His Own" A+ Best and most moving ending of an episode on television this year.
"Final Grades" A+ I'm so glad that HBO let the series go over the one hour for the finale. The final scenes were so painful and moving. This season made me at times depressed, happy, excited, intrigued and outraged. Can it somehow make an appearance at the Emmys? Nothing would make me more excited. Critics have been drumming up support for years to no avail. I'm hoping this year is different, but regardless, this season is a masterpiece.
FYC: SERIES!!!! (I didn't cite episodes like most because this isn't a normal show. All episodes were great, so if the incredible event of a series nomination, I'll give some thought to the best submissions.

EXTRAS
"Orlando Bloom" A
FYC: Orlando Bloom (Guest), Ashley Jensen (S. Actress)
"David Bowie" A
FYC: Ricky Gervais, Writing (Gervais and Merchant)
"Daniel Radcliffe" A
FYC: Daniel Radcliffe (Guest)

SHOWTIME

BROTHERHOOD
"Mark 8:36" (Pilot Grade: A-, Grade: B)
"Genesis 27:29" A
FYC: Jason Isaacs, Annabeth Gish
"Matthew 13:57" A-
FYC: Jason Isaacs (his best so far-- his character faces the many difficulties of returning home and finally explodes with rage in front of his young niece in a great scene)
"Matthew 5:6" A
FYC: Jason Clarke (faces a test of loyalty to his career or to the people who elect him)
"Matthew 12:25" A-
FYC: Fionnula Flanagan, Supporting Actress(forced to deal with downsizing at her factory and her own eventual firing)
"Samyutta 11:10" B
FYC: Annebeth Gish
"Genesis 27:39" A+ Best episode of the season! This would make a perfect series submission.
FYC: Annebeth Gish, Fionnula Flanagan (two strong submissions now), Writing (extremely well written episode)

WEEDS

"Corn Snake" B+ (a few hilarious scenes but overall, an underwhelming premiere, though it was a good ensemble episode)
"Cooking With Jesus" A Though some of the shock humor is gone, I'm realizing now how much better executed this series is in its second season, compared to the first. The writing is much less forced, and the episode progression is so much smoother. Overall, a great episode-- what a shocker at the end!
FYC: Series, Elizabeth Perkins (she's been given a great storyline) As much as I love Parker in the role, she doesn't have a submission yet, but the season is just getting started.
"Last Tango in Agrestic" A
FYC: Series, Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Justin Kirk
"AKA The Plant" A-
FYC: Mary-Louise Parker, maybe Justin Kirk
"Mrs. Botwin's Neighborhood" B
FYC: Mary-Louise Parker
"Crush Girl Love Panic" B
"Must Find Toes" A-
"MILF Money" A-
FYC: Elizabeth Perkins, Mary-Louise Parker
"Bash" A
FYC: Elizabeth Perkins (definitely a submission episode for her), Mary-Louise Parker
"Mile Deep and a Foot Wide" B+
"Pittsburgh" A+ Incredible finale: should be the submission episode for the series race. The entire cast was perfect.
FYC: Series, Mary-Louise Parker

DEXTER

"Pilot" A- Very intriguing series... so disturbing but I can't stop watching now.
"Crocodile" A
FYC: Michael C. Hall
"Popping Cherry" B+
"Let's Give the Boy a Hand" A
"Love American Style" A
"Return to Sender" A+
FYC: Series, Michael C. Hall
"Circle of Friends" B+ I enjoyed the episode but the big "twist ending" format was so obvious since the previous episode that I have to say this was the season's worst (still very good, though.)
"Shrink Wrap" A-
"Father Knows Best" A- Broke the pattern of solving crimes in Miami... the vacation made for an interesting weekend. Still, again with the obvious "twist" with Rudy being the repairman. Redundant too.
"Seeing Red" A
"Truth Be Told" A Sets up the finale very well.
In the event of a surprise series nom, this episode would pair well with the finale.
"Born Free" A+ The most electrifying hour of television all year... I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I didn't cite Hall for many episodes because I can't imagine him not submitting either this one or the pilot. Both showcase his great work. This amazing episode as a submission creates the outside chance for a surprise series nomination (sort of like HOUSE last year, except more deserving.)
FYC: Michael C. Hall, Series

NBC

STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP
"Pilot" (Pilot Grade: A+, Grade: A) Amazing pilot!
FYC: Series, Writing (Sorkin), Directing (Schlamme)
"The Cold Open" A+
FYC: Series, Matthew Perry (L. Actor), Bradley Whitford (L. Actor), Sarah Paulson (S. Actress), Possible: D.L. Hughley (S. Actor)
"The Focus Group" A- Decent episode...nothing overtly special about the performances here, though.
"West Coast Delay" A
FYC: Matthew Perry, Sarah Paulson, Nate Corddry
"The Long Lead Story" A+ Other than the pilot, the episode I've enjoyed most.
FYC: Christine Lahti (Guest), Matthew Perry, Sarah Paulson (It almost seems like Perry and Paulson's show, doesn't it? No complaints here.), maybe Amanda Peet (if she goes supporting).
"The Wrap Party" B Worst of the season, but then again, this show's worst is leagues ahead of most shows on TV.
FYC: Timothy Busfield
"Nevada Day: Part One" B+ Very well written, sort of a bizarre plot but entertaining nonetheless. John Goodman is great.
"Nevada Day: Part Two" B Still a good show but not rising to level that the pilot established
"The Option Period" B- Just not impressing me, although I love the fact that Lucy Davis is one of the regulars.
"B-12" B
"The Christmas Show" A+
FYC: Series, Bradley Whitford (L. Actor)
"Monday" C+ Pretty pitiful return after mid-season
"The Harriet Dinner: Part I" B-
"The Harriet Dinner: Part II" B
"The Friday Night Slaughter" B+
FYC: Matthew Perry
"The 4 AM Miracle" A-
FYC: Writing

30 ROCK--

"Pilot" Pilot Grade: B+ Grade: B Not as great as I expected, but the characters (and cast) are awesome, leaving lots of room for the show to develop.
"The Aftermath" A- Huge improvement over the pilot!
FYC: Tracy Morgan (S. Actor)
"The Blind Date" A Hilarious-- my favorite new comedy by far (I wasn't so sure after the pilot, but Fey is back on track.)
FYC: Tina Fey (L. Actress)
"Jack the Writer" B+ Very funny-- Alec Baldwin is just perfect in this role.
FYC: Alec Baldwin
"Jack-tor" A-
FYC: Alec Baldwin
"Jack Meets Dennis" A Great episode, but I wouldn't say that this is a submission tape for anyone.
"Tracy Does Conan" A- The scenes of Tracy on Conan's show elevate this episode above its other wise B range. After he swung the knife at Conan, I couldn't stop laughing for a good five minutes.
FYC: Tracy Morgan, Conan O'Brien (Guest)
"The Break-Up" A+ The best episode to date... Fey finally finds a submission, and Jack's storyline of dating Condi Rice provides the material for his best work yet. Also, Tracy's work with "Twofer" were hilarious.
FYC: Series (the first definite series submission) Tina Fey (her bar scenes were hilarious), Alec Baldwin, and Tracy Morgan.
"The Baby Show" A Fey and Baldwin were standouts in this one. Morgan's storyline was just okay, but I was happy finally to see Krakowski fit in.
FYC: Fey, Baldwin
"The Rural Juror" B+
"The Head and the Hair" A-
"Black Tie" B
FYC: Alec Baldwin
"Up All Night" A
FYC: Alec Baldwin
"The C Word" B+
FYC: Tina Fey
"Hard Ball" A
FYC: Jane Krakowski, Tracy Morgan
"The Source Awards" A-/B+
FYC: Tracy Morgan, Wayne Brady (Guest)

MY NAME IS EARL

"Very Bad Things" A
FYC: Jaime Pressly
"Jump for Joy" B Not bad... I loved the fight between Joy and Catalina.
FYC: Jaime Pressly
"Freaks and Freaks" B I really didn't like most of the episode, but the last line was one of recent TV comedy's most brilliant lines. "What a bunch of freaks" said the guy who lost his voice due to smoking.
"Larceny of a Kitty Cat" B
FYC: Ethan Suplee
"Van Hickey" A This was the best episode of the season so far. I'm not a devoted fan of this show, but the scene with Joy playing Red Rover at the nursing home has to be one of my favorite sitcom moments of the season so far.
FYC: Jason Lee (finally a possible submission episode)
"Made a Lady Think I Was God" A Very good episode. Roseanne was hilarious!
FYC: Jason Lee (his best submission choice so far), Roseanne Barr (G. Actress)
"Mailbox" A-
FYC: Jason Lee
"Robbed a Stoner Blind" B/B- I found this episode poorly written and a bit preachy. The only funny scenes were the Friends reenactments. The animation part was pretty much a waste of time, just a way to make Suplee make funny faces. It seems like Joy has not been receiving enough storylines lately-- I want to see more of Jaime Pressly: she's the best part of this show.
"Born a Gamblin Man" A My favorite of the season so far!
FYC: Jason Lee (his best submission to date), possibly Jaime Pressly
"Our 'Cops' is On" A+ Won't get a better or more original submission than this one.
FYC: Series, Jaime Pressly
"Blow" B

THE OFFICE-- my favorite show on TV!

"Gay Witch Hunt" A Great season opener.
FYC: Steve Carell, Writing (Greg Daniels)
"The Convention" A Classic Office! FYC: John Krasinski
"The Coup" B/B+ A classic episode for the Dwight lovers, me on the other hand... just good, not great.
FYC: Rainn Wilson
"Grief Counseling" A-
FYC: Steve Carell (excellent tape), Jenna Fischer (stealing the show without Jim in the office)
"Initiation" B+ It would have been B/B-, but the extremely well-written final scene between Jim and Pam was one of the entire season's best moments.
FYC: Rainn Wilson, B.J. Novak
"Diwali" A
FYC: Series, Writing (Mindy Kaling), Steve Carell
"Branch Closing" A
FYC: Series (This and next week's Merger episode would make the perfect submission pair.), Steve Carell (I just want to call out his brilliance here, but he has better submissions already.) Also: Directing (Tucker Gates)
"The Merger" A+ Everything about this episode was great. This is the PERFECT submission episode.
FYC: Series, Writing (Brent Forrester), Ed Helms (He should be a strong contender, especially with this episode.)
"The Convict" A Gervais and Merchant: They sure can write! And how unbelievably great is Carell this season?!
FYC: Series, Steve Carell, Ed Helms (He actually has two decent tapes for the supporting race.)
"A Benihana Christmas" A+ (again) The one hour format makes this a perfect submission: every character had a little time to shine (even Oscar.)
FYC: Series, Steve Carell (some great emotion here, plus the full hour helps), maybe Jenna Fischer, Directing (Harold Ramis)
"Back from Vacation" A+
FYC: Series, Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson (his scene with Pam was my favorite Dwight scene of all time).
"Traveling Salesmen" A+
FYC: Series, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson
"The Return" A
FYC: John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Ed Helms
"Ben Franklin" A
FYC: Jenna Fischer!
"Phyllis' Wedding" B
FYC: Jenna Fischer
"Business School" A/A- One of the most well written episodes of the season AND every character had a line!
FYC: Writing (Brent Forrester), Steve Carell (so many to choose from), Jenna Fischer
"****tails" A/A- My only complaint: the Dwight scenes went a bit over the top. As a writer, Lieberstein has that tendency.
FYC: Steve Carell, Melora Hardin (she is so brilliant-- I wish she had a chance for a nomination), Directing (JJ Abrams)

SCRUBS--

"My Mirror Image" A+ Really a perfect premiere, and Braff was particularly incredible.
FYC: Series, Zach Braff
"My Best Friend's Baby's Baby and My Baby's Baby" A The title alone makes this a great submission. I was ready to cringe when abortion came up, but the writers handled this issue brilliantly. And I loved the talking Jesus statue.
FYC: Donald Faison
"My Coffee" B+ Nothing outstanding about this episode, although Sarah Chalke was great.
FYC: Sarah Chalke
"My House" A- What a great idea for an episode, although I have to say that the mysteries didn't quite live up to the premise. An orange man? Really? That was even over-the-top for this show. The ending, however, was well written and moving. The premise alone, though, is enough to make this a definite submission-- votes will love this.
FYC: John C. McGinley, Series
"My Friend with Money" B+
"My Musical" A+
FYC: SERIES!!!, Writing
"His Story IV" A/A+
FYC: Ken Jenkins, Sarah Chalke, Series
"My Road to Nowhere" B+/B
FYC: John C. McGinley
"My Perspective" B/B- Pretty average episode.
"My Therapeutic Month" A-/B
FYC: Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison

HEROES--
FYC: Masi Oka (S. Actor)
Possible submissions: "Six Months Later,"

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS -- Best new drama!

"Pilot" A Really impressive... Now that I finally got around to watching this show, I really hope its numbers pick up.
"Eyes Wide Open" A
FYC: Kyle Chandler (L. Actor), Connie Britton (S. Actress)
"Wind Sprints" --MISSED THIS EPISODE--
"Who's Your Daddy" A This show surprises me with its quality every time that I watch it. Truly outstanding.
FYC: Connie Britton (S. Actress), Zach Gilford (S. Actor)
"El Accidente" A- This show really is the best new drama on television. As well written as STUDIO 60 is, the characters in this show are so incredible and believable.
"Homecoming" A+ This episode was incredible, so moving. The characters in this series are just so well written and acted. They feel so real, unlike the NBC drama I expected to like so much more (STUDIO 60), whose characters seem to be more like Sorkin's mouthpieces. The emotion in this show is so palpable: from the moving moment when Street appears at the game to the awful, painful ending when Smash injects steroids.
"Crossing the Line" A- That ending was so painful to watch.
"It's Different for Girls" A-
"What to Do While You're Waiting" A
"Little Girl I Wanna Marry You" B I didn't like the marriage proposal: I don't find it realistic or entertaining. Still, this show is awesome!
FYC: Kyle Chandler
"Upping the Ante" A
"Black Eyes and Broken Hearts" A+
FYC: Series, Kyle Chandler
"I Think We Should Have Sex" A
FYC: Connie Britton
"Extended Families" A+ Every moment of this episode was outstanding. God, I hope this show gets a second season!
Connie Britton, Series

ABC

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES--

"Listen to the Rain on the Roof" B- This is saying a lot considering-- I kid you not-- I would have given an F to the finale last season. I'll hold off on an FYC for anyone, though Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross were pretty good here.
"It Takes Two" C+ Not great...
"A Weekend in the Country" C+ Same as last week. GET FELICITY HUFFMAN OUT OF THE 'NORA' STORYLINE--- such a waste of talent! I never thought I'd say this, but Teri Hatcher has been the strongest so far this season. I'm holding out hope, though. I understand how hard it is for the writers to rescue the show from the ridiculous storylines set up by the end of the last season. I was so glad that they decided not to strech out Andrew's living-on-the-streets plot past this episode: smart move.
FYC: Teri Hatcher
"Like It Was" A- Major improvement... I was especially happy to see Felicity Huffmann steal the show like I've been waiting for. Really everyone was good tonight... best so far this season.
FYC: Felicity Huffmann, Marcia Cross

---Missed a few episodes here---

"Bang" A +
FYC: Felicity Huffman, Laurie Metcalf (guest), Writing
"Children and Art" A-/B+ Very funny with a shocker ending. Not liking Teri Hatcher's storyline anymore. Longoria is the best comedian, but Huffman is finally back in her element with the departure of Nora.
FYC: Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria
"Beautiful Girls" B-
FYC: Eva Longoria (really surprising me this season: as long as she doesn't get too many dramatic scenes and keeps nailing the comedic ones)
"The Miracle Song" B+ Mostly unmemorable with the exception of the hilarious fight between Susan and Brie.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS -- I can't promise I'll watch every episode, but I watched several over the holidays, streaming on ABC.COM.

"Patriarchy" B
"An Act of Will" B
"Northern Exposure" A- A bit contrived but very enjoyable... a decent submission.
FYC: Series
"Mistakes Were Made, Part 1" A
FYC: Calista Flockhart
"Mistakes Were Made, Part 2" A
FYC: Sally Field
"Light the Lights" B+

GREY'S ANATOMY--
"Time Has Come Today" B- Good acting, but so BORING! I admire subtle storylines when they actually have meaning, but Grey's subtle moments come off in such a fake, whiney tone. Grey's does well sometimes: when the relationship stories are a quirky addition to complex dramatic relationships between doctors and their patients. When the romantic storylines overtake the medical ones, though, we end up with a disappointing episode like this one.
FYC: Kate Walsh (the one brilliant performance here)... Sandra Oh is great but she didn't have enough performance time here.
"I am a Tree" A- HUGE improvement over last week's episode.
FYC: Sandra Oh, Kate Walsh, and Chandra Wilson
"Sometimes a Fantasy" B+ It was all good except for the second episode out of three in which Izzie has spent the entire hour in one spot: ridiculous.
"What I Am" A+ Finally... a great episode. This even surprised me because it was incredible even without especially intriguing patient storylines.
FYC: Ellen Pompeo (should probably submit a more dramatic episode, but she was so great throughout this one), Kate Walsh
"Oh, the Guilt" B Interesting episode but nothing spectacular, with the exception of the show's best actress, Chandra Wilson.
FYC: Chandra Wilson (definitely a possible submission)
"Let the Angels Commit" A- Very enjoyable but not spectacular.
FYC: Sandra Oh (a great submission choice)
"Where the Boys Are" C A little strange having the guys away from the hospital, but it really let Oh and Walsh shine.
FYC: Sandra Oh, Kate Walsh (a submission episode for sure)
"Staring at the Sun" A+ Incredible episode, the first possible series submission that I've seen.
FYC: Series, Writing, Sandra Oh, T.R. Knight
"From a Whisper to a Scream" A Another great episode. This one and the last one will make an excellent series pair.
FYC: Sandra Oh
"Don't Stand So Close to Me" A
FYC: Ellen Pompeo
"Six Days: Part One" A- This isn't by favorite show by far: I agree with those that call it nothing more than a well-written soap opera. That's what it is, but I think it's undeniable that the show is excellently executed.
FYC: TR Knight
[MISSED A COUPLE EPISODES HERE]
"Wishin' and Hopin'" A
FYC: Ellen Pompeo (her best submission), Kate Burton (Guest)

[I'm refusing to watch the sweeps episodes because I absolutely hate when shows pull stunts like this one. Everyone knows Meredith will live, and I don't find it interesting in the least to watch this storyline play out.]

LOST

"A Tale of Two Cities" A Great start to the season!
FYC: Matthew Fox (L. Actor), Julie Bowen (Guest)
"The Glass Ballerina" A+ Excellent work! The ending was incredible-- I thought it was going to end about four times before it actually did.
FYC: Series (decent submission episode), Yunjin Kim (S. Actress)-- She's always been one of my favorite supporting players on the show.
"Further Instructions" B
FYC: Terry O'Quinn
"Every Man for Himself" B+
"The Cost of Living" A/B The execution was very good (A), but it made me seriously question the direction of the writers (B).
"Run" B+ Most of the episode was good, but it was a let down without a bigger cliffhanger.
"Not in Portland" A
FYC: Elizabeth Mitchell
"Flashes Before Your Eyes" B/B+ I may appreciate this episode down the road, but right now, I don't like how LOST broke its format to present an episode that was almost entirely a flashback.
FYC: Henry Ian Cusick
"Tricia Tanaka is Dead" A-/B+
"Enter 77" A Finally, what LOST is known for. This felt like the best of last season.
FYC: Series, Naveen Andrews

CBS

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE -- I wish this show wasn't on during HEROES, and CBS stopped posting episodes online. So, I guess for now, I'll have to settle for catching the occasional episode.

"Come to Papa Jeff" B+ Much better than I thought... improved from last season. (I'll try to keep up as much as possible with this show.)
"Oh God, Yes" A Wow-- impressive episode. If this series can put together another five episodes this strong, it'll have a decent shot at the series category. This episode alone, though, should be enough to ensure Dreyfus another nomination and very likely, a second win.
FYC: Julia Louis-Dreyfus

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

"Brunch" A- This was the first time that I've watched this show, but I have to say, this is probably the best ensemble traditional sitcom since Friends. I'll try to keep up as much as possible.
"Ted Mosby, Architect" A- Impressive once again-- now I'm officially a fan.
"World's Greatest Couple" B+
"Aldrin Justice" B
"Crazy Eyes" A
"Atlantic City" B
"Slap Bet" A+ Wow-- I missed this one when it aired but found it on YouTube recently. I'm so glad I did. "Robin Sparkles: Let's Go to the Mall" was hysterical! Cobie Smulders deserves an Emmy for this. Since she has almost no chance, she goes on my personal nominations list.
FYC: Cobie Smulders (S. Actress)
"Single Stamina" A
FYC: Neil Patrick Harris, Wayne Brady (G. Actor)
"Columns" B Nothing great, but not bad.
FYC: Bryan Cranston (Guest)
"Monday Night Football" B-
"Stuff" A Great episode: the play scenes were hilarious. I haven't been a big fan of Harris' work so far (I think he's overrated, when it's the rest of the ensemble that's so great.), but tonight he was outstanding.
FYC: Neil Patrick Harris

THE CLASS I still watch this show but don't feel the need to post regular grades: it is not an Emmy quality show, with the exception of Lizzy Caplan.
FYC: Lizzy Caplan, Supporting Actress in a Comedy. She has great comedic timing, and her knack for delivering sarcasm is pitch perfect.
I didn't watch this show regularly, but the finale was actually really good. I really hope this show gets a second season. Caplan is outstanding, but the other elements are beginning to fall into place too.

FOX

HOUSE, MD

[i] Hugh Laurie should be able to make the top five with any episode of the season, but I'll give him an FYC when he is especially good.

"Meaning" A Outstanding episode! I know some people hoped for a close pickup from last season, but the show's restraint in favor dramatic quality impressed me. Anyone who classifies this series as a procedural-- watch this episode: nothing formulaic about it!
FYC: Hugh Laurie
"Cane and Abel" B A little too close to the X-Files... but a pretty captivating episode.
"Informed Consent" B+ Not as exciting as last week but much more interesting (moral quandaries dominated). That's what I like so much about this show: one week dealing with visions of aliens, the next discussing the morality of assisted suicide.
"Lines in the Sand" B Again: a solid episode, not anything spectacular but consistently entertaining. I especially liked the parallel between House and the autistic child. The stalker storyline seemed out of place, though.
FYC: Hugh Laurie
"Fools for Love" A Nice ending! Compared to the uneven nature of most TV shows, I've really come to appreciate the reliable good quality of HOUSE.
"Que Sera Sera" B
FYC: David Morse (G. Actor)
"Whac-A-Mole" A- Very good... Here is a potential submission for Laurie (dealing with the investigation crisis.)
FYC: Hugh Laurie
"Finding Judas" A
FYC: Series, Hugh Laurie (his best since the premiere)
"Merry Little Christmas" A Wow-- House trying to commit suicide= a very powerful submission tape for Laurie. This adds range to his otherwise cranky character.
FYC: Series, Hugh Laurie
"One Day, One Room" A+ Well... it looks like HOUSE will be up for Series again, that is, if the producers are smart enough to submit this episode.
FYC: Hugh Laurie (this is a winning tape for him), Series, Writing
"Needle in a Haystack" B
"Insensitive" B

24
"6:00 AM - 7:00 AM" A-
FYC: Kiefer Sutherland, Series
"7:00 AM - 8:00 AM" A-
"8:00 AM - 9:00 AM" A
"9:00 AM - 10:00 AM" A+
FYC: Kiefer Sutherland, Series
"10:00 AM - 11:00 AM" A- Nice twist bringing in Jack's family.
"11:00 AM - 12:00 PM" B- Pretty slow.
FYC: Jayne Atkinson
"12:00 PM - 1:00 PM" A-
FYC: Kiefer Sutherland
"1:00 PM - 2:00 PM" A Really enjoyed the twist with the assassination plot.
FYC: Kiefer Sutherland, Peter MacNicol
"2:00 PM - 3:00 PM" A-
"3:00 PM - 4:00 PM" A This season has really it its stride in the last three or so episodes. For once all of the CTU agents are multidimensional characters! And that final twist... ITZIN'S BACK!!
FYC: Series, Kiefer Sutherland
"4:00 PM - 5:00 PM" B/B+ The final scene was exciting, but the rest was a bit dull.
"5:00 PM - 6:00 PM" A/A- So some critics have started circling around the show? It's certainly not perfect or as compelling as last season, but this season is leagues ahead of where this show was during Season 2 and parts of Seasons 3 and 4. Also, Peter MacNicol is turning in some outstanding performances.
FYC: Peter MacNicol

SCI-FI

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

"Occupation" / "Precipice" A+/A+ Best premiere of the season by far!
FYC: Series, Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Directing), James Callis ("Baltar"-- Supp. Actor)
"Exodus: Pt. 1" A
"Exodus: Pt. 2" A Another incredible episode! The ensemble cast is so great, though, that it makes it hard for a single actor to stand out, although I do understand that Olmos will be receiving an episode devoted to his past, basically an Emmy submission.
"Collaborators" A
FYC: Katee Sackhoff (S. Actress)
"Torn" A-
FYC: Katee Sackhoff (S. Actress), James Callis (S. Actor)
"A Measure of Salvation" A- Good episode but brought down a little by the obvious point of the plot: we all knew that the cylons wouldn't be destroyed. Still, the cast and writing made it top-notch.
FYC: James Callis, Mary McDonnell was quite good (as usual), but she doesn't have enough here for a submission (I'm hoping the writers put together an Emmy ep. for her like they're doing for Olmos.)
"Hero" B+ Not quite on par with the rest of the season but still VERY good.
FYC: Olmos (If he has a chance, this is probably his best submission.
"Unfinished Business" A Starbuck and Lee's chemistry was incredibly written and well acted.
FYC: Jamie Bamber, Katee Sackhoff, Edward James Olmos
"The Passage" B Something seemed off about this one, my least favorite of the season so far.
"The Eye of Jupiter" A A great half-season cliffhanger!
"Rapture" A One of the most gripping episodes I've seen from this show.
"Taking a Break from all Your Worries" B+The Baltar storyline was excellent, producing memorable performances from both McDonnell and Callis. The whole Lee/Starbuck storyline...not so much.
FYC: Mary McDonnell, James Callis
"The Woman King" B-
--missed one--
"Maelstrom" A
FYC: Katee Sackhoff
