Agreed, that was a LOT to squeeze into one episode.
Funny about the casting: So many of the actors are so perfectly cast that the badly cast performers really stick out.
Michelle Forbes, Alexander Skarsgard and Nelsan Ellis are pitch-perfect. Jim Parrack and Deborah Ann Woll (Hoyt and Jessica) are fantastic.
And yet Mehcad Brooks is astoundingly sexy, but just can't really hack it (same deal when he was on "Desperate Housewives"). Same deal for Mariana Klaveno as Lorena (part of that is the drag-ass flashbacks with Bill).
What I like about the show as a whole is its awareness of its camp/overheated qualities. "Six Feet Under" and even "American Beauty" took themselves so seriously sometimes it was oppressive. But "True Blood" is pure enjoyment.

I've heard the same criticism about Klaveno and Brooks elsewhere...they must stick out. I don't think they will be around for long though.

Nah, definitely not. With the latest episode, you can sense Brooks is a doomed character. And as for Klaveno, I hope that, perhaps, Godric (being a stronger vampire) will remove her from the picture.
I miss Daphne already. It kinda bugs me that Klaveno was added to the opening credits and Jones was not.
(Side note: Finally, some peen. Lots of peen. Keep it "up", Alan Ball.)
I don't mind Maryanne's character anymore. I was bugged at first, but her bat**** crazy bohemian dancing is awesome. I guess I'm a sucker for that (case in point: Cate Blanchett in Notes on a Scandal). Plus, her subplot now has a Voldemort-like mystique to it and I wonder how it will play out.
PLEASE tell me Jason lives! That bullet better have been blocked by the knife. Or have been a blank. Idk. Something.
Most importantly though: Hoyt and Jessica are seriously THE cutest couple on TV. I think I'm pretty much in love with Hoyt. Sam's been my guy from the beginning, but now I'm gonna have to go Mormon.
Also, seriously: I WANT MORE PAM! She's made of win.

I didn't catch that in the preview though, probably 'cause I was imagining Godric and Eric doing it against the cage fence.

Congrats are in order for the Leads Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer for getting engaged! I don't see the chemistry on the screen, but that doesn't take anything away from that.
As Gabby Solis would say "Best wishes!"

Well If youre not like me and cannot wait for the episodes to air and have to read spoilers, then you wouldn't know that there are some BIG storylines yet to come for Jason. I am very excited for season three for that character.

Wow, that episode...I wasn't bored with one part of it. That's the great thing about this show you have to keep watching to see what happens next.
On another note. Does anyone think Michelle Forbes has a chance at getting nominated for an emmy next year? She'll probably get nominated for a Golden Globe...if they still love True Blood.

Bazooka Joe, what's with ruining the big surprise there? Most of us don't watch previews. Next time, please put a SPOILER WARNING before you reveal a key plot point.

In BJ's defense, I think it was obvious that it's highly unlikely that anything fatal happened to one of the 5 main cast members. I get the sense those names in the credits are more cemented than the rest, and there's less cause to worry.
But yeah, spoiler warning are ALWAYS appreciated, for future reference =].

Haha, that's awesome to know. For some reason, because it's an Alan Ball series and because Jason's a hot piece of ass, I always get these vibes he's gonna turn out to be bi-curious or something and have a gay encounter. I kept sensing homoerotic tension between him and Luke (I think that's his name). Of course, I would also love to see this, so I can't think straight (hyuck hyuck hyuck).

Synopsis: Sookie's captivity takes an unexpected turn when Eric arrives to do his master's bidding, facing an F.O.T.S in full lockdown mode; in Bon Temps, Sam finds himself in hot water after making a gruesome discovery at Merlotte's, but Andy proves no help in coming to his defense; sent home by Bill, Jessica and Hoyt learn that when it comes to sex, every time is the first time; Tara and Eggs get physical after partaking in a "Hunter soufflé" prepared by Maryann; after Jason pays off his debt to the vampires, Godric looks to enlighten his more single-minded followers.
Discuss.

I'm excited for tonight's episode. I'm glad this season has more action scenes, as much as I loved the first season some episodes were a little too talkative for me.

Best episode of the season. Everything worked for me on multiple levels. And the ending was the first time this season I actually screamed "Holy sh*t!"
When I heard the title I just knew they would play Beck's Timebomb...great song for a perfect cliffhanger.
I would still like to now what Maryann is up to...I know she's a Maenad but, um, what's she doing with that? LOL That blood pot pie was nice and gross.
Scary, funny, crazy, emotionally involving- it was the best episode of a mostly terrific season. The end was a take your breath away shocker with great use of music.

I thought that things were wrapping up too tidily with the resolution between the FOTS and the vampires standoff, but then that ending with Luke at Godric's home. That's insane. I wonder who actually survived the explosion. I'm fascinated by Godric right now and how Eric acts around him. It was kind of awesome when he took down Lorena like that. Jason apologizing to Bill was hilarious. Sam being pinned for Daphne's murder was predictable, but Maryann making that "Hunter's soufflé" for Tara and Eggs with Daphne's heart was one of the grossest things I've seen in a long time. I adore Michelle Forbes on this show. And poor Jessica! That scene with her and Hoyt at Bill's house was kind of sad. Can't wait to see what happens next week post-explosion.
Grade for "Timebomb": B+

Lots of good stuff tonight. It's quite a pickle Godric is facing; what do you do when you're urging peace and both your followers as well as the other side want a war?
Nice twist, BTW, that Godric is basically a Sean Cody model. Couldn't quite tell what was going on with his accent, though. I like how different Eric behaves around him; it adds an intriguing dimension to the character.
Hell of a cliffhanger.
The apology Jason offered Bill was a fantastic little scene. Ryan Kwanten really has a knack for dimbulb comedy; he's playing Jason perfectly.
I feel like we've been going over the same ground with Maryann for three or four episodes now. I kind of feel like poor Sam; completely mystified as to what's really going on. By the previews it looks as if we'll be getting some forward movement.
Agreed with previous comments that this show's use of music is masterful.

Damn. That hour went by fast. When Luke pressed the detonator, I seriously checked my watch and didn't realize that an hour had already gone by. Amazing television, this is.
It's episodes like these that make TRUE BLOOD so insanely addictive.
It's got the perfect blend of...
-Comedy (Bill catching Jessica & Hoyt! Jason & Bill's man-hug!) -Romance (How thick was the sexual tension between Eric & Sookie tonight?) -Drama (As much as I hate her, I really felt sad for Lorena tonight. Especially that scene outside Godric's house.) -Sex (And surprisingly, not from Bill/Sookie or Tara/Eggs!) -Action (The bloodless, but still intense, showdown at the FOTS church!)
...and then there's [/b]MaryAnn.[/b] Damn, that kitchen scene with Tara & Eggs hurting each other was a total "WTF?!?" moment for me.
Next week's episode is gonna be explosive! (Pun intended.)
