Why Twenty one-time nominee Bill Maher and Eighteen-time nominee Angela Lansbury have never won an Emmy?
They’re not well-liked in Hollywood or what? Or the majority of Academy's voters simply don't give a damn about nominee being overdue?
I can perfectly understand why Lansbury has never won for Murder, She Wrote. But how come she never won for hosting the Tonys or Guest Actress in a Drama Series "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" in 2005?
Bill Maher is one of the most brilliant television personalities of the past 50 years. And this is why he can't win: he's too much of a cold dose of reality; he scares the people that watch his tapes. The Daily Show can be brutally honest, but they say it with a smile. Bill Maher's snarl, pretty much saying what we're all thinking, is too "real" for the old fogie academy.
And with both Real Time & Politically Incorrect, there isn't/wasn't a lot of scripted material to even get tossed the Outstanding Writing in a Variety Series bone.
