Thought the premiere was OK. Some funny, funny stuff [Sheldon: "No, Mother, I'm not sassing you in Eskimo talk."], but it seemed like they were trying to do too much, with two "A" stories really--Sheldon's anger and the Penny/Leonard romance. As a result, the end of the episode felt rushed, like they ran out of time.
Still think the cast is priceless, with Parsons still in top form and Simon Helberg continuing to impress as Howard ["My people already crossed a desert once; we're done."] And of course, the invaluable Laurie Metcalf is always worth your time.

This was an average episode of the series elevated to above average thanks to the presence of La Laurie Metcalf. I'm sorry did anyone else catch those gorgeous gams courtesy of that surprisingly short dress?
Otherwise I agree with admunc: they were totally trying too hard. These characters are funny, they need to be spitting out puns, quips and oneliners at the speed of light. The writers need to take it easy with that.
Well, this episode was easily in the bottom five of the show and joins the ranks of such notorious episodes as 1x05 Hamburger Postulate (Leonard plays Cello with Winkle) and 1x14 Nerdvana Annihilation (Time Machine).
Sure, it had some one-liners but the story was so dark and rushed that it felt like Frasier was gunning down Eddie with a machine gun.

Jump the shark? I don't see it. I did think the episode felt a little rushed, but it wasn't a bad episode. I'm happy the show is back.
I don't really watch a lot of TV (in fact, probably next to none), but I've come across a few episodes of this show (I don't know if they're recent or old), and it is absolutely hilarious! If I had a consistent-enough schedule to follow a TV-show, I would watch this.

I decided to gives this episode another shot. It wasn't so bad this time. But if you compare this to last season's premiere, it was pretty weak. Storytelling wise things don't look good at all.
not as good as last year's premiere and certainly not among the show's best...but a nice return...the scene with Penny and Sheldon on the best was the best part of the episode....
Last night's was just so-so again. The storytelling was better than the premiere, but I don't think the Penny/Leonard romance is going to work for the long haul with them together. The comic gold of the first two seasons was Penny being the outsider and reacting to the guys. I'm guessing they won't stay a couple for long at this point.
Agree that Parsons is just spot-on.

I have seen the episode only once but my first reaction was that it was again terrible. It's obvious now that they are already running out of ideas. They also made the worst possible decision by putting Leonard and Penny together. It's as if the writers decided to play chess without bishops and knights. Can't win that way.
Last night's was by far the funniest of the season. Good balance between the "A" and "B" stories, and everybody got some good lines to play. Howard's tattoo sleeves were great--"I can strip these puppies off and still be buried in a Jewish cemetery."
The chemistry between Parsons, Galecki, and Cuoco was humming. With the ratings increase and additional press attention this year, Parsons is on his way to another Emmy nod.

Not quite as funny as last week, but still a nice episode. The scenes with Sheldon and Raj were pretty intense. Parsons just continues to grow in this role. Bazinga!

So I watched the first two seasons to see what all the fuss was about, and I enjoyed maybe the first 3 or 4 episodes. After that it was all the same. Sheldon says something that appears to be "intellectual" and Penny (or whoever may be there) looks confused, and everybody starts laughing. This is pretty much the entire series. And it doesn't help that the laugh track is way too loud. Very big turnoff. But I guess it does well with audiences that like Two & A Half Men. After watching the seasons, I firmly believe Parsons is not in same playing field as Carell, Baldwin, and Shaloub. And if he ever gets an Emmy before Carell, their reputation, for me, would be completely gone. Also, I am I the only one who finds his facial expressions very forced?

Jim Parsons deserved the Emmy this year. Too much love for 30 Rock ruined his chance though. Hopefully he wins like 3 for this role.
Last night's episode, "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency", was the funniest episode of the season by far and returned to Season 2 form. It also served to point up that TPTB made a mistake in pairing Leonard and Penny at this stage--their relationship has sort of upset the balance that was set up last year. Last night the characters didn't share scenes and had separate plots and things worked beautifully without the romance getting in the way. Once again, Parsons and Cuoco played off each other adorably, capped off with a brilliant rendition of "Soft Kitty" sung in the round. Inspired ending. And the B story, with Howard, Raj, and Leonard heading out to a campground to watch the meteor shower but instead unwittingly scoring marijuana cookies from some hippie schoolteachers, was also mined for great comedic moments. Their sky-high ramblings just about had me on the floor, particularly Raj's fantasy of lording over a rabbit world. "I would be kind to my rabbit subjects... at first."
Nice job. And other things to look forward to--in an upcoming episode, Sheldon will try to teach Penny the basics of physics using the same principles used to teach sign language to chimps. And, best of all, Christine Baranski is reprising her guest role as Leonard's mother in a January episode.

I'm beyond ticked! My local CBS affiliate aired the Ravens game (even though it was on ESPN as the MNF game. I don't care if it is the local team and you don't have cable! grr!). At first I searched their website to see when the re-airing would be. I didn't see it so I sent in a complaint. Finally it showed up on my cable guide that it would air last night (late Wed/early Thur) at 230am. I set my DVR. Well, when I checked it this morning, I got the last 30 seconds or so of BBT and then Dr. Phil. THE TIME HAD CHANGED!! GRR I'm ill! I replied back to the email they sent the first time.
Does BBT air episodes online at CBS.com or anywhere? :-(
