Comedy Series The Office 30 Rock* Entourage How I Met Your Mother The Big Bang Theory Family Guy
If Family Guy gets in, I will lose all the respect I have for the emmys. It is a funny show but please! A few tv references and some musical skits doesn't make it a high quality show...It will be so unfair to other contestants...

Really? I think Family Guy is deserving. I'm surprised The Simpsons never broke through.

G'Day, I thought I'd spice up my nomination predictins this year by recording them on my webcam and posting them on my otherwise ill-frequently updated blog. I've done my first 2 categories (writing and directing in a comedy) and hope to post 2 more every day or two. Sorry for poor sound and video sync but my webcam isn't great. Also sorry for the accent, hopefully you can understand me.

When all my predictions are done I'll post them all as a list here.
Fun!
First of all, you are so darn handsome! ;-) It's good to finally put a face to the words.
Second, though. I just finished the Writing aspect and I feel that you are leaving out (possibly) several key shows in here: both Californication and Entourage had stellar seasons this year, with some truly well-written stuff.
And if it's traditional sitcomy stuff, there is still Two and a Half Men and How I Met Your Mother to contend with. (You just can't count out the man that is Chuck Lorre in this category.) I'm almost thinking HIMYM's Naked Man episode is close to a lock here.
You're right about them almost always nominating a pilot. There is also United States of Tara possibly (in addition to what you mentioned).
Also Weeds and Ugly Betty are possible contenders.
In short, I really don't think it's gonna be all 30 Rock and The Office all the time. (I recommend watching Californication's In Utero to see some top-notch writing.)
Now, to watch your directing picks.
********************************************* Well, I pretty much agree with your directing picks and why you chose them.
The only caveat I would add is that Californication is exceedingly well directed. And also, I could see Entourage picking up two this year, because their shows were like feature films this year.

Thanks very much MicheBel, I'm very flattered (the web cam must hide my non-handsomeness).

With Entourage, in 4 years the writing branch has never acknowledged this show in the past. I just don't have any reason to believe they will now. Same with Weeds and it's 3 previous seasons. Similar with Californication, if it couldn't get in for the pilot last year I just can't see it getting in now. I've seen a handfull of episodes from season 1 and 2 of Californication and it just isn't a show I like (havn't seen In Utero so maybe I'll try and track it down at some point).
The United States of Tara didn't submit its Pilot otherwise it would have comfortably been in my top 10. Perhaps I should have picked Diablo's episode anyway.
With the traditional sitcoms I was reluctant because in the last 3 years a multi-cam laugh track sitcom hasn't been nominated. The Naked Man slipping in wouldn't surprise me though.
I don't see Ugly Betty picking up any more nominations than last year.

2 Directing nods for Enthourage wouldn't shock me, they have done it before.

if holly hunter is such a good actress maybe she should go back to movies where the good actresses should be

I found the drama picks much harder to narrow down (especially for directing), here they are:

family guy is easily one of the funniest shows on tv, and i would go as far as to say its the smartest, people bash its unlinear storyline, but try doing something that great and funny every episode, and coming up with all those random references that i happen to find brilliant
It’s funny but it is basically just laugh out loud funny... Not accurate funny and not creatively funny (after a while the joke format is the same and most of its episodes now are a hit and miss)...If family guy gets nominated it will SCREEAAM "we are trying to make original choices"... I have watched every single one of the Family guy episodes (i own season 3 and 4 on dvd) and I can just say that Family guy is the best at what it’s doing...Which is creating easy but sometimes cheap yet good laughs, that are easy to understand...I am not bashing but I am saying what I believe to be true... Family guy is not that smart, it can be original sometimes but only within its "borrowed" Simpsons concept...Satire seems to be popular these days, but it's not the only thing that makes a show funny...At least that's my opinion... Also Family guy is an animated show, if they nominate it then they will just nominate it because of the scripts..so why not submit it in writing for a comedy series??? Seriously, I thought the outstanding comedy series category is how the end product looks (including the directing and the acting, not just the script)...a script with a possible musical number in it, aren't enough elements to create an outstanding comedy series...
