It’s funny but it is basically just laugh out loud funny... Not accurate funny and not creatively funny (after a while the joke format is the same and most of its episodes now are a hit and miss)...If family guy gets nominated it will SCREEAAM "we are trying to make original choices"... I have watched every single one of the Family guy episodes (i own season 3 and 4 on dvd) and I can just say that Family guy is the best at what it’s doing...Which is creating easy but sometimes cheap yet good laughs, that are easy to understand...I am not bashing but I am saying what I believe to be true... Family guy is not that smart, it can be original sometimes but only within its "borrowed" Simpsons concept...Satire seems to be popular these days, but it's not the only thing that makes a show funny...At least that's my opinion... Also Family guy is an animated show, if they nominate it then they will just nominate it because of the scripts..so why not submit it in writing for a comedy series??? Seriously, I thought the outstanding comedy series category is how the end product looks (including the directing and the acting, not just the script)...a script with a possible musical number in it, aren't enough elements to create an outstanding comedy series...
the jokes style of family guy copied NOTHING from the simpsons. and i disagree completely that the jokes they make are easy and cheap. if its so easy, why dont other shows do it? the randomness of the show cannot be compared to anything on tv, and in that case its brilliant, im sorry, people who bash it are just haters. its original and hilarious.

Have you ever wonder why a hater becomes a hater...People who bash it are haters and are haters because they don’t like it... If they liked the show they wouldn't bash it...Anyway, I like the show so I am not going to go into that...
Btw I know that the style is not copied from the Simpsons but the concept of an animated family with three kids is definitely a "borrowed" idea...And as for the style of humour...South Park did an anti-Family Guy episode, which was so unprofessional from the south park crew BUT they did a few family guy clips themselves and the clips were like they were taken from family guy..so like i said before...it's smart but "not that smart"...

Family Guy should definitely be one of the 6 Best Comedy Nominees. It has great characters, clever writing, witty satire and asides. It makes me crack up for 30 straight minutes every episode(I even laugh through the commercials). It's badness and political incorrectness are clever and funny. episodes I've seen numerous times, I still laugh at. Family Guy for Best Comedy.

If you think it is funny then it should go for writing...but really, if it gets nominated for best comedy series it will be a rip-off and basically the Emmy judges will be trying to prove that they are cool…I mean does an episode have outstanding directing, acting or visuals??? Seriously, family guy is funny because the show itself is a joke...i like the show a lot but it's like saying that an ant is stronger than a human...the ant is strong in its own little world but overall the human can kill it with a single movement... Similarly family guy is a clever for an animated show but it doesn't have the quality standards of other shows...Just because they have one clever thing to stand out from all the randomness, it doesn't mean they are secretly clever...

G'Day, sorry bout that. I couldn't find the list on Tom's blog archive (didn't think to go to one of those recent posts) and just for some reason had in my head that Duchovney didn't make the top 10 (which was silly considering how weak the field was). Look, l'd still put him in the same place because Parsons has hype and Braff is a past nominiee in a final season, but with making the top 10 last year and showtime's steller campaigns, those 3 have a very similar chance.
Thanks heaps for finding that. I have posted a correction in the blog post under the video and give you credit for finding it:

Animated shows aren't inferior to other TV shows. They take as much or more human involvement, artistry or creativity as live action shows. The Simpsons is one of the best TV shows of all times, Creating one of the best comic universes and best cast of characters ever on TV. Why hasn't Simpsons ever been nominated for best comedy.
Family Guy should recieve recognition for being clever, satirical and witty in their asides and consistently extremely funny week in and week out...and can you seriously say that Two and Half Men or some others that are in consid are funnier or more artistic or more deserving.
We aren't talking about movies here where an animated movie might take seven years to make...The South Park people might not have even written the next episode after the one that has aired...it takes 8 days of a huge expensive crew to make a primetime series...but family guy has small and cheap (i don’t mean trashy but literally cheap) episodes...They have contributed to television but to animated television...they should stay where they belong...and family guy is not "consistently extremely funny every week"...if u have been watching as much as i do u will see that the episodes are a hit and miss...It is ridiculous for it to be amongst other more hardworking shows...
I would certainly think Amy Ryan makes the Top 10 (Oscar winner, one of Emmy's favorite shows to nominate). It wouldn't even be a shocker to see her nominated, but I just don't have her in my predictions. Too many veterans and 30 Rock contenders.
I'm surprised nobody predicted any nominees for voiceover performance, now that it's a category rather than a juried award. Here are my guesses:
Dan Castellaneta, The Simpsons (Homer, Krusty, Barney, Grampa, Kent Brockman, others) Hank Azaria, The Simpsons (Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, others) Seth MacFarlane, either for Family Guy (Peter, Brian, Stewie, Quagmire, Tom Tucker) or American Dad (Stan, Roger) the surprise nomination: Kristin Chenoweth, Sit Down, Shut Up (Miracle Groh) and someone who does narration for either a PBS or HBO special.
No, I did not forget Harry Shearer; there must be a reason he never won an Emmy, and now the voiceover artists on the committee can make it five times as clear that they don't like him for whatever reason. (As soon as Comedy Central airs non-DVD Futurama episodes, they can do the same to Billy West.) Maybe Mike Judge gets one for King of the Hill (he's Hank and Boomhauer), since this was its last full season.
