Unless the ratings completely crater, NBC will stick with the five-night strategy for the time being. But we could very well see a reduction to 2 or 3 nights at some point.

If the Leno freefall continues, you are going to start seeing some of the non NBC owned/operated stations move their local news up to 10 pm and run Leno late, late night, as is their right.
It's no longer a question of whether this *could* be Heroes' final season; this *will be* its final season. It is a dead show walking. 46% decline in the 18-49 demo from last year's season opener. The two episodes last night now rank as the lowest-rated of the entire series (9PM lowest, 8PM 2nd lowest). Second-lowest demo rating ever, if the number holds up in the final nationals which will be out later this evening.

I thought "Accidentally on Purpose" was pretty awful...
Back to ratings, I'm actually happy for the Leno free fall. I am still angry about the loss of 5 hours of scripted television! ... totally happy for "House"'s numbers too.
Wow, the ratings on House went up and up and almost caught Dancing With the Stars. And amazingly, the actual episode of House got better and better as it went along. Which means more people were watching the episode as it got better. That is almost shocking. Wow, and it crushed in the demos. 6.9? Wow.
Seeing ratings like that, it makes me wonder if those writers on House might really want to take a risk and shake up the show. Break it out of that format. Clearly, the audience still responds to non-standard House episodes.

Melrose Place is dead. Locklear coming back won't matter. I wouldn't be surprised if it got less than 1 million viewers by then with the rate its ratings are dropping.
