WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

Does anyone know what the Desperate Housewives ladies submitted last year? I know that none of them were nominated and some said that they made bad submission choices. But does anyone know what they were?

These are all rumors I guess since I never heard any confirmation but here are what they submitted:
Teri Hatcher- the one with the wedding dress scene. Marcia Cross- Next Eva Longoria- There's Something About a War Felicity Huffman- the one where Nina and her went to the disco and she dances there.
I hope The Office wins as Best Comedy Series for this year's Emmy Awards.

god! horrible submissions!! marcia cross especially... if she had submitted "no one is alone" (the one with her meltdown at danielle's birthday) she would've obviously been nominated. as for the other three, they couldn't find any better, that's true, which just proves how bad the writing was the second season.. but this third season is being brilliant, so they'll be back!
I think that Felicity Huffman should have submitted the season finale. I do agree that Marcia Cross should have submitted an episode other than Next.
I am still bothered by the fact that Julia Louis Dreyfus won over Jane Kazmarek last year. It left the same taste in my mouth when Allison Janney beat Jennifer Garner in 2002 and 2004. I know that I need to let go, but these horrible victories make me think that factors other than the episode submission come into play when deciding on the winner.

Can anyone fill me in on Lorraine Bracco's submissions for Season's 1 & 2. It's been a long time since I saw them. I'm still in awe she lost in season 3 with her brilliant performance in Employee of the Month

and while Naveen Andrews and Terry O'Quinn were, indeed, very good, i still think Jorge Garcia and Josh Holloway should've been nominated.
thing is, with the exception of his touching performance in "Numbers", Jorge Garcia didn't really have any other standout episode to pair with it.
as for Josh Holloway, he was my favorite from the first season. his performance in "Confidence Man" alone should've been enough to get him in... especially over Naveen Andrews. he had so many other good episodes to pair with "Confidence Man".
Moviemjk in season one she submitted the episode where her family criticizes her for treating a mobster, nothing special. season 2, "big girls don't cry", is awesome since she's in almost the entire episode. it's when we see her in a session with her psychiatrist and we also see her asking tony to take her back as her shrink. very good
yeah, employee of the month was one of the best sopranos episodes ever. i actually do believe she deserved that emmy over falco, though they gave two brilliant performances. but bracco was much stronger
Just finished watching The Office season 2. While they won so it feels odd saying anything about their submission choices but how could they not submit Conflict Resolution! I was absolutely rolling during that episode. Oh and the no one in the entire supporting cast getting nominated is horrible. Hopefully the win last year will help them get more actors in this year.
James Spader wasn't nominated last year so I don't know if we ever found out his submission to the panel. The BL series submission was "Stick It" and I'll take a guess that Spader submitted that (which explains why he didn't get the nomination"
Congratulations West Wing, Emmys most honored drama. 27 Emmys including 4 best drama series "What's Next?"

Last year Desperate Housewives wasn't good, but maybe they could have snag some nods submitting better.
I think Hatcher and Longoria submitted well (the best they had). Cross should have gone with some episodes later in the season with her alchooling storyline (like "Could I Leave You?" or "No One Is Alone") or the one where she lets George die. The finale would have been nice for Felicity, or even the episode where she deals with her son and the umbrella. But of course none of those were competitive as "Guilty" or "Bang".
I still can't belive Alfre Woodard didn't submit "There's Something About War".
"There's Something About War" or the finale should have been their series submission instead of "Next" which apart frome the great tie scene wasn't a great showcase for Cross or for the show itself.
Anyway Cross was really robbed last year. Not only she deserved the nod, but the win. It's the only reason I kept watching the show, and I'm sure it's the same for many others.
I hope this year Teri(back with great comedic moments) or Felicity(hands down the best acting overall) gets a well deserved nod.
In 2009 the three best TV female performances in a drama series were all snubbed. Shame to Emmy voters for not nominating January Jones, Alison Pil and Chloe Sevigny.

Im with you there...still confused about how they overlooked her. Its still makes me laugh that out of ALL the Desperate women Alfre Woodard was the one nominated. Talented actress, but out of the 10 mintues she was in season 2 (note my sarcasim) how did she pull off the nomination?
Does anyone know what any other cast member of Greys submitted last year except for Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson?
A thought about "Desperate Housewives" premiere season:
I am currently making my way back through Season One and am being blown away left and right by its brilliance and originality. Even though I thought "Everybody Loves Raymond"'s final season was fantastic, featured quite a few classics ("The Home," "Sister-in-Law," "The Power of No," "Pat's Secret"), and in most years would have been a deserving winner it was such an irritatingly safe choice for the Academy. I wish that they had the guts to give it to the boldly innovative first season of "Desperate Housewives" or second season of "Arrested Development."
Anyway, regarding the Housewives' submissions, I am only a quarter way through the season (so I have only re-watched Huffman's "Pilot" and Cross's "Running to Stand Still") and I can't decide what's more unimaginable that Huffman's amusing but mostly one note performance in these early episodes amounted to a win or that either Huffman or Hatcher was ever considered a serious threat to Cross. While I do think that Cross was saddled with some bad storylines in the last two seasons and that the show worked just dandy without her (mostly thanks to Nicollette Sheridan), she has been my MVP on all but one episode so far. How the voters could watch "Running to Stand Still" with her "I love sex" speech, her attempted to seduction of Rex, and confrontation (Rex: "You sound like a whore" Bree: "No I just sound like a woman whose husband won't touch her") and not have given her an Emmy is beyond me.

I wasn't convinced that "Running to Stand Still" was her best choice but it was easily good enough for her to take it. Plus her performance in Felicity's submission, the Pilot, was also even more superb and it was a great introduction to her character. She had some good moments in Hatcher's tape as well, including her comment about Rex mistaking her anal retentiveness for affection. Still, Marcia deserved an Emmy for Season 1 AND Season 2....but if I could only give her one it would be for Season 2. UGH, I just can't get over that she is not an Emmy winner!! Or any other major award for that matter....unless you count the "coveted" Satilette, whom I now grew respect for.
