Shelley Long's winning 1983 tape was "Let Me Count the Ways", but I don't know what she submitted in the years after that.
For Kirstie Alley, I believe her submissions were: 1988 - "Backseat Becky, Upfront" (not 100% sure on this one) 1989 - Not nominated, so no submission 1990 - "Finally!" (Parts 1 and 2) 1991 - "The Days of Wine and Neuroses" 1992 - "An Old Fashioned Wedding" (this was a terrible submission choice) 1993 - "One for the Road"
A lot of the tape submissions for the late 80s/early 90s used to be on the Emmy website a few years ago, but they aren't there anymore.
Here are some new findings: 1986: Bea Arthur,GG, Pilot (The Engagement) Rue McClanahan, GG, The Way We Met Phylicia Rashad,Cosby, Cliff in Love 1967: Milburn Stone, Gunsmoke (Baker's Dozen)

Where did you find The Golden Girl submissions for 1986?
I would have thought that Rue McClanahan would have gone with Adult Education. This is the episode in which her teacher suggests that she sleeps with him in order to pass the class.

to emmyfan: I taped the 1986 emmy awards. That year, they showed clips from the episodes themselves when they read the nominees. I then checked with websites that had quotes that matched. Rue's speech was about the beam of moonlight that hit her clevage. This was in "The way we met".

How do you know the clips were from their episode submissions? Did they actually say that? Because I don't think you can assume it. For example I remember in 2005 they showed a clip for Alan Alda from The West Wing that was from a different episode than what he submitted.
In 2005, supporting players submitted TWO episodes. Perhaps they showed the other one that you were not aware of. It appears to me that the clips are from the actual episode submissions, but I have sent an e-mail to an official at ATAS to be sure. This is all fascinating. I would love to know all of the episodes submitted for all time.

Nope, it was from a totally different episode. They showed a clip of him from the season finale, which wasn't either one of his tapes.
And I thought of another one - in 2007, the clip they played for Jenna Fischer was from "Beach Games", when her submission was "The Job". So my point stands - You cannot assume that a clip is from someone's submission tape just because they play it for them on the telecast.
It is official. You can assume that a clip played on the Emmys is the actual episode submitted. (Almost...) The awards department provides a list of episode titles to the Emmy Producers, who chooses the episodes to telecast. The idea is to choose those episodes, and almost 100% of the time, this is what happens. Since it is the Producer's call, they may exhange one, but rarely. I have been told about 2 such cases. Does any one know of any others? The man at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Awards Department was very helpful in this and I thank him.

I found yet another one - In the 2001 Lead Actor in a Comedy ( you can see it here), the clip for Kelsey Grammer isn't from his submission episode. Maybe they always use the submission episodes now, but there are enough examples of the clip not being from the episode in the past that I do not think you can make that kind of assumption.

Can anybody confirm that these were Seinfeld's submissions? It seems strange because The Pilot is a one-hour episode, so shouldn't it count as two submissions? Also, I find it weird that The Outing is not among the submissions, since it was nominated for Writing. The Seinfeld Season 4 is for me the best comedy season ever, so I would really love to know what they submitted that year.
I can't confirm that these are the correct submissions, but it's fine that they have the one hour pilot, and technically nine episodes since it was a two-parter, it only counts as one episode, and it used to. I know the West Wing submitted 9 tapes twice, in 2001 and in 2003.
John Goodman messed up in 94. He should have sumbitted the episode where Dan comitts his mom to the mental hospital, then gets drunk and confronts his dad about his chilhood..
Also do anyone know what Sara Gilbert submitted in 93 and 94?
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..
