So I was just browsing around and looking at old years and came to 1994 (hosted by Patricia Richardson and Ellen DeGeneres. Hmm, odd pairing). Peter Falk was nominated in Lead Actor, Faye Dunaway was nominated and won in Guest Actress. Yet, according to IMDB she was a series regular. She was nominated for the same role at the Golden Globes in the Drama Actress category.
What kind of "series" was this? I also noticed Falk has other nominations for Columbo. Was it in a new series each year with the same leading man as the same character?
I've never even heard of this until now, but I'm a bit confused. Some insight would be great!

If memory serves me right -- that was the year Columbo had several movies that would premiere and I believe they submitted it as a series rather than made for tv movie.
