I'm surprised they didn't incorporate Pompeo's pregnancy into the show. I think that would have been a great storyline for Meredith.
I think this is gonna be a make or break season for the show. I don't know how they are going to pull off Pompeo's absense, and with Heigl missing as well for several episodes, this is gonna be a big test for the show.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
They're going to do more stand-alone episodes to compensate for the absences. Patrick Dempsey is supposed to get a big episode all to himself, as well as Sandra Oh. Heigl and Pompeo's exits aren't supposed to be concurrent, or if the scheduling coincides, it won't be but for a few episodes.

"Grey's Anatomy" returns with sadness and determination by Robert Bianco, USA TODAY
Happiness is in the eye of the beholder.
Obviously, no fan of T.R. Knight's George is going to be exactly happy with Thursday's return of "Grey's Anatomy" (* * * out of four stars, ABC, 9 ET/PT), not when the two-hour return is built around his death. Still, there's good news to be had in the skillful way the show handles the tragedy in its first hour, the only one made available for preview. There's well-played grief (particularly from Debra Monk, returning as George's mother), dark humor, and a needed reminder that work and life go on in the person of a concerned mother (a strong guest turn by Martha Plimpton).
Aside from forcing the doctors to focus on her son's illness — an understandably single-minded determination that leads to a very nice scene for Jessica Capshaw and Chandra Wilson— Plimpton's character also seems set to provoke a management crisis at Seattle Grace. Things are not looking good for the Chief (James Pickens Jr.), and while that's bad for him, it could keep Derek (Patrick Dempsey) busy with a problem that does not involve Meredith (Ellen Pompeo).
And really, among all the story lines percolating here, from Callie's (Sara Ramirez) torment over George's death to Cristina's (Sandra Oh) complicated relationship with Dr. Hunt (Kevin McKidd), a story for Derek that doesn't hinge on a Meredith crisis is key. The show needs to let them be happy and stable for a season at the minimum.
Oh, and on the needs-and-desires front, it would also be nice — and a healthy change of pace — to see "Grey's" go an entire season without any on-screen ghosts or off-screen conflicts. Or, if conflict is unavoidable, at least have the sense to shut up about it.
Now that would make viewers happy.

Isn't Chandra Wilson doing double duty on Private Practice, too?
And why do I have a feeling next season will be the last for this show?
There are too many new characters running around that we don't care about. And Meredith and Lexie's pregnancies should've been written into the show. That's what happens in real life; women get pregnant simultaneously. It's absurd that we have so many successful doctors, yet none of them have kids except Dr. Bailey and Izzie (who gave hers away).
Beginning of the end, folks.

I don't think they will close threads for season based shows b/c they reached 500. Boomer and co. implemented the season thread thing, which is a good idea, so everything can be in one place and for us to look up some Emmy reels for the actors.

The first "5 minutes" were released online. I put that in quotes because I don't know if they'll will actually be the first 5 minutes.
If what I saw was any indication with how the other 1 hour and 55 minutes will go, we are in for something dreadful. Horrible acting, horrible dialog, and some really bad editing. I found myself laughing over how bad it actually was.
I think tonight might be it for me. If these two episode suck as much as I think they will, then I'm done. Life's too short.

Well that doesn't sound too promising for me in tuning back in Joe lol. The Office, Community, & Sunny in Philly it is then lol.

Well according to some things that I have read, Ellen Pompeo might not missed any episodes. Apparently she was shooting stuff in advance, She may not be in a lot in the episodes but she is going to be there. That is what I saw somewhere know I don't remember where.
About the first 5 minutes, I saw them and it really looks good. Bazzoka no offense but I think you exagerated a little bit. Of course everyone is entitle to there opinion but that short scene it may no look great but it doesn't look horrible. Things are kind of different when you see them in all its context and completly. That is why I giving it a chance. But if it doesn't surprise me I will have to reconsider some things.

The show's not ending this season or anywhere near it.
We'll have to go to another thread when this gets to the limit.
These first five minutes were incredibly intense. Callie's reaction broke my heart.

Sorry but with trite writing like this (first hour, all those annoying monologues, like Boston Legal used to do), Grey's Anatomy will not getting nominations when television offers much better. Dexter's Margo Martindale did the "Let Me die," segment better, and the writing was more crisp.
Well these two hours sucked just as much as I thought they would. They tried way too hard to do something different, and it just did not work for me at all. Interesting twist at the end, but it came way too late. I'm done.
Grade for "Good Mourning" - C
Grade for "Goodbye" - C-

Everything's all over the top.... it's just I couldn't sit through these two episodes. Katherine Heigl and Chandra Wilson were good in this anyway. I might not watch more episodes, but I'll give this another try.
Grade: C
Hopefully Desperate Housewives will do better than this.
