While the new season doesn't begin until September 28, the first episode has leaked, and since it's out there, the new thread might as well be made.

"Our Father"

Dexter targets a dope dealer who is also in the sights of Assistant D.A. Miguel Prado; Internal Affairs puts pressure on Debra.

Guest Star: Jimmy Smits

Enjoy!

I really liked the episode. All the new developments were very interesting, and I'm looking forward for more of Jimmy Smits. I can't wait to see what happens with the twist at the end. That came out of nowhere!

A-

The season 3 premiere is available on Showtime's website here, or if that doesn't work, here. The password is "lady killer".

Great start to the season, but I'm wondering what the "thing" will be this season. In season one, it was the Ice Truck Killer. Last season, it was the Bay Harbor Butcher. Are we gonna find out more about Prado? The new guy that's dealing with Deb? Or is the "thing" the revelation about Rita at the end of the eppy?

Whatever it is, I think we're gonna be in for another excellent season.

So glad I waited and did not watch the eppy early. I'm looking forward to the season; more stellar work from MCH and maybe with Jennifer Carpenter will continue to shine and get some much deserved attention.

And Rita.... Red Face

"Finding Freebo"

Something's gotta give when Debra and the homicide unit, ADA Miguel Prado and Dexter all chase the same serial killer, who murdered Prado's younger brother. On the home front, Dexter's faced with a big family decision involving Rita and her two children.

Guest Star: Jimmy Smits

Enjoy!

Wow. This was a fantastic episode. Michael C. Hall and Jimmy Smits were excellent at the end.

If it keeps going this way, Dexter will be back in the drama series competition next year!

If last nights episode is their series submission, they'll have a series nomination locked. That last few minutes of the show were edge-of-your-seat television. Also, I read where the Dexter/Miguel "friendship" is headed, and that's gonna be some serious Emmy-worthy TV.

Another person that has seen the "real" Dexter. It's only the 2nd eppy I need to be patient and watch this unfold.

I think this show is just completely amazing....first off this cast....incredible...And now Jimmy Smits complicating things in a cool way, not an annoying way like I thought it would be....I love this show everything works perfectly...

The mistery/thing/hook this year is pretty great, once again it's all about almost catching Dexter and not somebody else like season 1...we know it won't happen, but it's great to watch it not happen....

I think Desperate Housewives should take a lesson from Dexter. Essentially the same premise each season with the obvious ending, Dexter won't get caught, but it's done in such an exciting way that it feels fresh every single time. Just like DH should be. Same cast, new guest star, new mistery and some how, still a fresh and exciting show.

This last episode, Finding Frebo, was one of the show's best. The last part as all of you have said, was just amazing.

And the best thing is that this show is freaking hilarious too...Jennifer Carpenter is a genius doing both comedy and drama so easily....

I think it's finally a time to award the show and Michael C. Hall by Golden Globes. They so deserve it for this season. And Carpenter should be nominated. Absolutely an amazing show!

I think this year Hall may have a shot. He should've/could've won the first year he was nominated because he was the new guy in the cool new show and Laurie was a repeat winner. He could've won. Last year it was all about Mad Men. But with Hamm already rewarded and the Emmys not throwing themselves at him (and the Globes following again to prove they're "in"), Hall could have his shot.

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight"

Dexter has a run-in with a pedophile; Freebo is accused of a murder he didn't commit, and Dexter knows the truth but can't say anything about it. Also, Dexter's friendship with Miguel begins to weigh on his mind.

Enjoy!

Michael C. Hall you again show why you are the best actor on television. When I reviewed his Emmy submission, "There' Something About Harry," I complained that the tape did not give Hall the chance to show enough of subtle tics that make Dexter such a complicated character. Those tics were on full display in "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." My favorite moment of the night was conversation on the balcony between Dexter and Miguel. Smits was good but Hall was GREAT as he used the scene to show every thought and play every emotion Dexter was experienceing. A banner night for MCH and the eppy was compelling as well.

sohappy

Let's get serious for a sec: if Dexter manages an Emmy nod next year (which, based on the last two episodes, should be guaranteed), it seems like they'll be able to submit any combination of this seasons episodes, and be a very serious threat to win. Nothing on TV is as engrossing as this show is right now. Nothing.

I have to agree MissyGal. The first three episodes have been stellar and it's impossible to take your eyes off the screen when Michael C. Hall and Jimmy Smits are in a scene together.

I totally agree. My favorite show from last season "Mad Men" has had a somewhat uneven season with episode quality going up and down. So this year I am all about "Dexter" which is the most exciting program on television right now. Probably the most visually impressive as well. Also, who would have thought Michael C. Hall could top his work from Season 1 but I think he is getting better and better in the role. Deeper, scarier and funnier and he can still surprise. Even if Emmy voters do not want to reward a serial killer show as Best Drama (though a nom should be assured as they nominated the lesser second season), Hall may very well be the man to beat next year in best actor. I hope so anyway.
