I think Judge #1 is spot-on with his predictions, judging from how both judges recounted the panel reactions.
Look-- there is no way The Office won't be nominated. It was either #1 or #2 in the popular vote, and like both judges said, there were many episodes that will be ranked far lower than its submission. (If #2 in popular vote-- and that's only if 30 Rock beat it-- it could still feasibly pull off a nomination with a #8 or #9 in the panel. That isn't happening.)
30 Rock is clearly getting nominated, as it deserves to.
The Two and a Half Men love isn't surprising but, for me, it is a little depressing. I think it's great for at least one traditional sitcom to make an appearance at the Emmys. But come on! Christine, How I Met Your Mother, or The Big Bang Theory are all better than Men.
Pushing Daisies wowing the crowd with its pilot is great news. I'm betting it was a 5 or 6 in the popular vote and probably a 3 or 4 in the panel viewing, so it's in.
The last spot will come down to Family Guy, Ugly Betty, or Curb Your Enthusiasm. While it would be neat to see Family Guy nominated, I just doubt that it was that high in the popular vote. And in the panel vote-- well-- Judge 1 loved it and then ranked very low because it was animated. I see the logic there-- it's a bit strange when there exists another category for animated comedies. He didn't want to rank Family Guy highly when it didn't face competition from The Simpsons or King of the Hill. It's a fair point.
Ugly Betty will be in the top five of the popular vote. I think... It's submission was a poor one, so it's on the border.
So that leaves Curb Your Enthusiasm, an old Emmy favorite that will keep HBO in the game. But barely.
Nominees:
30 Rock The Office Two and a Half Men Pushing Daisies Curb Your Enthusiasm
Next: Ugly Betty Shocker: Family Guy
If it's anything else, I'll be surprised. Of course, many will be predicting Family Guy now, but I just doubt it will happen.

I really don't get the appeal of 2.5 Men but I guess. Happy for Pushing Daisies & 30 Rock. Really suprise that Family Guy scoared high. I'm really worried about The Office. From what have been said its between CYE & The Office for the nomination w/The Office coming out on top.

BTW, what Curb episode was judge #3 and the panel watching cause I just watched their submission the other day and laughed 1 time. Falling out of their chairs? Holy crap. There really is no accounting for taste. Apparently an anus tickle and making fun of handicapped people is hilarious.
Okay, Lindsay, are you forgetting that I was a professional twice over— an analyst and a therapist. The world’s first analrapist.
ok this may sound dumb but just because they laughed a lot does that guarentee it will get nominated or that it will place high.
I think panelist number one is a little more accurate IMO as well. Although I believe it was panlesit who said this and I knew it would be the reaction to Entourage was like wow betting on sex great not really done well or that funny, and oh great he gets laid dressed as a stuffed animal (not getting it a nomination) I'd be shocked.
I also think CYE was VERY offensive, at least Family Guy was offensive and there was a positive message in the end.
My predictions based on my hunches, populare vote, and panel voting.
Curb Your Enthusiasm The Office Pushing Daisies Two and a Half Men 30 Rock
Family Guy and Betty are the upsets (Betty more so with popular vote helping) But what gets replaced of those five maybe CYE but like an HBO show will get in.

I wouldn't worry about The Office. They sent a horrible episode last year and got in. The spies said the show got a horrible response. But then on Emmy morning, the show got nodded. It probably ranked second on the popular vote and then somewhere in the middle in the panel. I think its spot is the most secure after 30 Rock.

Sometimes the snobbery around here is shocking. Just beecause someone does not share in what you find funny does not mean they lack taste.
Yes, it does LOL. I'm just surprised they would use a term like falling out of their seats.
I am very happy that Pushing Daisies seems to have been received well.

I am not a snob but I agree I don't really care for Two and a Half Men I don't like Sheen or Cryer. When and if I watch the show I watch it for Holland Taylor. Funny thing is I like every other CBS comedy but that one.

I'm not sure if there is any scoring confusion. When Judge 2 said Grey's was ninth on someone's ballot may mean its score was a 2, and not a 9. I doubt the judge would say people were grumbling about the episode, but, oh wait, it scored high anyway. See what I'm saying? Or maybe it did. I did know. This just makes more sense to me.

Thrilled to hear about the reception of Family Guy. I'd love nothing more than to see it nominated alongside The Office, 30 Rock, Pushing Daisies, and Two and a Half Men. Realistically though, I figure it's a two way battle between FG and CYE for that last spot; Entourage could spoil, but their lack-luster tape looks to be hurting them. Not to mention that CYE is much more "respected" by Emmy voters.

When you look at the ages of most of the panelists (most over the age of 50), it is no surprise that shows with more low-brow humor (Two and a Hal Men, Family Guy) are doing better than shows that are not about banging you over the head with a hammer every five seconds.
Interesting to hear about the vote rankings (#10 being the best and #1 the worst...this is def. good to know haha).
Anywho...I had seen all the comedy series submissions except for the ones by Family Guy and Two and a Half Men, so I decided to watch them tonight.
I laughed maybe once or twice during Two and a Half Men. Why do voters like this? The whole episode is very male-driven, about Charlie sleeping with more women than usual to deal with the fact that his ex-lover is getting married. That got me thinking...I'm wondering if there are any women on the panel and if so, apx. how many?
As for Family Guy, I'm not a regular viewer of this show, but I did laugh a lot. The humor is very random and I'm kind of suprised to hear that this went over well with the panel. I thought the subject matter of this submission was very baity, dealing with the "hot topic" of illegal immigration. I 100% agree with Secret Judge #1 in his placement of Family Guy. I personally feel that both South Park and The Simpsons are superior.
