However, I believe it. You can bet that ABC will run the finale opposite the American Idol, which is what is indicated by the January 20 start date, so I think that that means that we are in for a random back-to-back Lost night sometime in the middle of the season. ABC is probably doing this to avoid starting on January 13, which is the current best projected American Idol premiere date.
Also keep in mind that Carlton Cuse said recently that Lost will take a two-week break for the Olympics.
So, is LOST moving back to that 10pm Est/9pm Central time? I can't believe ABC would bump Modern Family and Cougar Town out of that time slot. I think it would be disastrous to move those two shows.
With the 2-week Olympic break, this would end sometime in May, right?
We do not know Lost's exact timeslot yet. It should end on May 12 to avoid American Idol's finale the week after.
I would not be too surprised if ABC bumped Modern Family/Cougar Town. You have really got to hand it to ABC for their treatment of Lost over the years. We hear so much about how NBC has slandered Medium or My Name is Earl or Las Vegas, but ABC really loves Lost. They rarely do not approve anything in the scripts and they have always promoted the show well. They got rid of repeats and breaks for the fans. They set an end date for the show. They funded $3 million Internet alternate reality games for the hardcore fans. They set an end date. They gave the show the Thursday at 9:00 timeslot during the writers' strike. They give the show a $4 million per episode budget. And now, they have agreed to promote the sixth season without using any new footage in commercials.
And Lost still has better ratings than Modern Family/Cougar Town, even though it is five years older and heavily serialized.
I would love to see a two-hour episode somewhere down the line to make up for the two-week break. Maybe back-to-back weeks of two-hour episodes at the beginning of the season. Would that be too much?
ABC should give it the 8pm slot. It would be nice to see the show end in the same time slot it began in.
That's interesting. "Ugly Betty" might have another shot at Wednesday nights.

So what is going to be leading/following it? Isn't that normally when the Dancing with the Stars results show is?
Also aren't the Olympics at the beginning of February? Doesn't this put it in direct competition with that? I wonder why ABC wouldn't just wait an extra couple of weeks

Counterprogramming. There needs to be some alternative to the Winter Olympics onslaught, even if the ratings take a dive in the process.
I guess the results show would precede "Lost." Makes sense to bolster "Lost"'s numbers.

So if they put DWTS before Lost then do they move V to after Lost? I just don't really understand why they can't keep Lost on Wednesdays at 9 since Eastwick is canceled. I wish ABC had clarified their full fall schedule

B/c now they don't want to break up that comedy "Modern Family"/"Cougar Town" block. "V" can go after "Lost" fine, and then Wednesday night can be a straight comedy ticket.

Sorry I forget that other people aren't central time (duh!), so when I said Wednesday at 9 for Lost that is 10 eastern time.
Also do we know when American Idol is running this year? Because it would suck for Lost to premier against the Olympics AND AI

American Idol's performance shows have run at 8:00 since 2003.
All right. I'll be celebrating Groundhog Day with LOST. LOL!
Ah, I knew ABC wouldn't move Modern Family/Cougar Town. (Assuming there are even episodes of Cougar Town to air in the Spring.)
I am so glad that there won't be a break for the Olympics. Who cares if LOST goes up against the Olympics and American Idol? This is its last season. So what if the ratings are low? Snort.
Seriously though, I love the Olympics, but I wouldn't miss an episode of the final season of LOST for anything. If there is an Olympic event I want to see that night, well that is what Tivo is for.
