It's calendar year 2007 per the BAFTA website (1/1-12/31). BBC2 ran the 1st season during this time; season 2 has not aired yet, I believe. So the nomination was well-deserved.

Crap list of nominees. Truely crap. BAFTA is one of the worst groups of awarding television, made worst by the fact that Britain has some of the strongest television content in the world.
Having said that, there's a few good inclusions - MacFadyen, Dench, Merchant, etc.
I haven't seen much of the things they're awarding here, but I'm really happy to see 'Family Guy' get included in the list and 'Life on Mars' better win the award this time around.

You got me there; the logies are worse, but at least they have their 'most outstanding' awards which usually honor the right shows (Love My Way etc.)
But as the for the BAFTAs. Just an example: Planet Earth was nominated for about 6 Bafta's last year in the Documentary categories and lost them all. How could one of the defining non-fiction series of all time loose Documentary awards (some for Cinematography) in the country it originated from? Same goes for Prime Suspect which was virtually completely shut out including Helen Mirren. Where as the Emmy's rightfully gave 3 awards to it and 4 to Planet Earth.
This year. James Nesbitt should have been there for Jekyll, David Tennant for Recovery, Wedding Belles was shut out, and that's just off the top of my head.

But yeah, Logies are pretty ****.
I agree that the BAFTAs aren't perfect, one of the reasons is the categories - only having two acting categories for 4 people being the worst. Also the way the nominees are decided are not the fairest, I believe after one vote the networks can add one of their shows to the ballot before a final vote - that may have changed though. There aren't too many good things this year, I think 2006 was better than last year (See No Evil: The Moors Murderers won last year, which was excellent). As for the good things though, single documentary is good this year - Lie of the Land & Parallel Worlds were both great as was Andrew Marr’s History Of Modern Britain & The Relief of Belsen in the specialist factual section.
As for Planet Earth last year, it was good but not great, the BBC have done much better than that.
Hope family Guy wins. Good for Stephen Merchant too.
WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

If anyone hasn't read Cranford, Elizabeth Gaskell's novel is a finely-wrought portrait of gynocentric life in a rural English village. And at only around 200 pgs., there is plenty of time to check it out before May...just thought I would mention the book, since it is one of my faves.
Congrats to Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins and Family Guy!
Daytime Emmys Congratulations to Jeanne Cooper, Kristoff St. John and OLTL for its writing/directing wins BOOOO to the losses of Heather Tom and Van Hansis and Rachel Melvin
Congratulations to In the Heights and Patti Lupone BOOOO to the losses of Martha Plimpton, Laurie Metcalfe and Patrick Stewart
I must say I am shocked that Eileen took the trophy from Judi...but congrats to her nontheless. I am also wondering if Cranford's loss here will affect it's chances of breaking into the Emmy races.
