Well, we all know how much DALLAS got ridiculed for making an entire season a dream and erasing a major death (Bobby Ewing) in the process. I hope this isn't the truth because it is such a cheap plot twist that only worked for the NEWHART series finale.

Obviously. It's too cliche, I remember one night I was watching NEWHART's series' finale, it was a good episode, but I can't see it happening to Desperate Housewives, if it happens, it would be screwed up big time.

If that rumor is true about the Tomlin/Joosten spin-off, then I would love to see the two of them in a half hour sitcom(single or multi cam) solving murders from week to week. I think it would be hilarious. And, it worked in the 80s and 90s.
Tomlin/Josten are only good because the rest of the show is cr@p IMHO. I enjoy them, but I can't see them sustaining a spin-off show. Plus, I think there tactics get old after awhile.
I thought the first hour was terrible. That was easily the worst episode this show has ever produced. If it weren't for the scene with all four ladies talking about Lynette's problem it would have been unwatchable. And, it was GREAT to see Nicolette Sheridan. It's hard to think that the same people who work on this show and during this year produced the 100th episode also produced this dreck.
However, the second hour was great. Not as good as other finales, but still very exciting and satisfying. I really like that Gaby now has a mini-her to deal with. That was fun to watch, and if paced correctly could be a lot of fun next season. Lynette being pregnant is a bit disappointing. However, if it moves us away from the tom drama that will be good. I think Huffman will be able to handle that material with some skill and really sell it. The Bree/Orson stuff did not work at all. Although I like this "bad Bree". Seeing her cheat on her husband is very un-Bree, and the fact that she is staying with Orson but cheating on him seems like it will be fun. Also, Dana Delaney in the airport - wow can she act. Her look of devastation was powerful.
I'm guessing Mike married Susan. But really, I think they could have crafted a much better cliffhanger than that. It just seems lame, and it won't be enough to get viewers back next season. For some reason I thought they would have a Grey's type cliffhanger since they NEED to get viewers back, but I guess this one will have to do.
Episode MVP: Teri Hatcher Grade for pt.1: C Grade for pt. 2: B+/A-
I really hope they pace the storylines they've set up well. DH has a tendency to use all of their best material in the course of a few episodes and then putter around with what they have left of a storyline. They've opened a lot of doors, so it will be nice to see where they lead. I also think they need to actually focus on Bree's business next season. Why not give her a local cable cooking show? I also wouldn't mind seeing Susan in the classroom more. Lynette at work with Carlos and all the Gaby stuff this season has been perfect, so I hope that continues. I just feel like the writers need a clear vision for their characters. It was clear at the begining of the season that this is where Gaby would end, and it showed. Even for susan in some respects. But, when they just go around in circles with their characters it doesn't work.
Season Grade: B MVP: Eva Longoria Parker (who is certainly one of the top 5 Lead Actresses in a Comedy Series this year)
I am going to grad school next year and am picking which shows to get rid of, this is one of them. This year I ditched Gossip Girl and Heroes, and I will now be leavin Desperate Housewives behind. It has been a bumpy five years but RIP to my viewership of that show.
In terms of the Emmy's I only support a nomination for Beau Bridges.

My love for "Desperate Housewives" has waned over the past 3 seasons and while I had renewed interest during the 3rd and 4th seasons (and even the 2nd season had its high points), this past season has been the weakest by far.
This finale was so mixed. The first hour seemed SOOOO uneventful!! I looked at the clock and was stunned to see that it was almost 10 and nothing really shocking or very interesting had happened. I guess you can say I was paying attention but I was also having conversations with two to three people during the episode at the same time, something I would NEVER do during the first season.
The second hour was better but once again, another "housewife held at gunpoint" scenario that we've seen in the first finale (Susan), second (Bree), third (Lynette in "Bang"), fourth (Katherine and Bree), and now Susan again!! ENOUGH!! And as for the cliffhanger, I doubt it will be the talk of the summer.
Overall, the finale was probably the weakest of the 5 but it had its good moments. I actually liked how they resolved the Dave mystery, which is easily the worst mystery they have done. I never thought anything could beat the Applewhite mystery but the Dave storyline takes the cake for being the worst, most bland, and the most predictable mystery yet.
They need to end this show when they planned to do it (Season 7). There is no way it can maintain a strong viewership for four more seasons!!

The ending to this season was very...whatever. Can we just hurry up and give Eva Longoria a nomination for Best Comedy Actress already??? She is easily the funniest member of the cast and one of the few redeeming qualities left for a show that seems to have lost its way towards becoming quality entertainment.
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak Adele for "Hometown Glory" Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody" The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' " Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"
What a TERRIBLE season. Absolutely nothing worked. Even the praised 100th episode was lame, in my opinion. Out of thwe hit shows that premiered in 2004 (Grey's, Lost, Desperate Housewives, House...) DH is easily the one that got stale faster.
This show jumped the shark in its first season, and for some reason I kept watching it. NOW it`s over.
Turns out the Emmys were right about not nominating it after the first season. Now I agree.
