Glynn Turman, awesome. Well, I knew they'd go for Robin Williams, I just wish they hadn't. That episode and his performance were truly laughable. Peter O'Toole is in his episode for not even 3 minutes. It's a good scene, but come on. Heath Freeman was absolutely robbed. He joins James Frain as guest actors on the Closer who should've been nominated(Frain could've easily won). The rest of this list looks pretty good.

Oh man, finger's crossed Charles Durning can finally get a nod for his work on Resuce Me. He was superb in the season finale and he easily deserves Top 5 placement. It's also nice to Oliver Platt here-- he did an excellent job on Nip/Tuck, and both he and Sharon Gless deserve nominations. Peter Reigert's nod is a surprise; he wasn't bad on Damages, but I never figured he's be in competition. If the show is swept up as much as I'm expecting, he could certainly get in. Essentially, I think it'll come down to:
1: Glynn Turman, In Treatment 2: Robin Williams, Law & Order: SVU 3: Charles Durning, Rescue Me 4: Oliver Platt, Nip/Tuck 5: Stanley Tucci, ER

9/10 for me, missing Peter Reigert for Brad Dourif, who I thought could get in based on a showy guest-starring role on that show I guess no one watches anymore (Law & Order) even though they just check off S. Epatha Merkerson's name though she's hardly on the show. In any case, I really hope that Keith Carradine can get a nomination for "Dexter". Robin Williams and Peter O'Toole are in, but beyond that, I think it's up in the air and I'm hoping that maybe Stanley Tucci (whose performance I haven't seen), Charles Durning, and Carradine can snatch up the last slots. I haven't yet seen his performance, but I've heard very good things about Glynn Turman, and I think he'll make it in over Durning.
Glynn Turman! That's all I needed to know. Win that Emmy now.
I think I'm most surprised about Danny Glover and Peter Riegert. Glover had a solid run on "Brothers & Sisters", but it never came off as being necessarily award-worthy to me. Peter Riegert making it here means that voters were really watching "Damages", I'd say the same thing about Robert Morse for "Mad Men", but he's more recognizable and had the showier role (which bordered on hammy). Heath Freeman not making the list for "The Closer" is criminal. Sigh. Glad for Robin Williams and Peter O'Toole making it in. Oliver Platt seems loved still -- I wonder if he made the cut for "The Bronx Is Burning" in lead actor in a miniseries/made for television film now. He could overcome the ESPN bias. I haven't seen Charles Durning's performance on "Rescue Me", but I'm glad that he's still around and churning out recognized work still.
But Glynn Turman! Yay! Good job in campaigning for yourself when HBO didn't bother to.

I think the emmy nominations will be: Glynn Turman- In Treatment Oliver Platt- Nip/Tuck Charles Durning- Rescue Me Peter O Toole- The Tudors Robin Williams- Law And Order: SVU
i want the emmy nominations to be: Keith Carradine- Dexter Danny Glover- Brothers And Sisters Peter O Toole- The Tudors Robin Williams- Law And Order: SVU Robert Morse- Mad Men
Turman! Given all this In Treatment love, I'm kinda wondering how close it was to making the Drama Series top 10. Maybe if HBO had focused on that instead of Big Love, which seems to be a big bust without Series or Paxton.
It's hard to find any fault here, and even though it's mostly cartoonish, I hope Platt gets in.
In fact, there are only three I don't want to see: Williams (laughably bad performance), O'Toole (I don't watch, but if he really has just three minutes of screentime, it's a joke), and Glover, who did nothing.
Riegert is a very odd choice, and not only does that mean Damages is a lock for Series, but I'd say if the love for the show is this strong, Ivanek has an outside shot at a surprise nom too.
FUN FACTS: -9 of these guys are past Emmy nominees (Turman isn't)
-4 have been nominated in this category before (Glover, Platt, Durning and Williams, the last two both for Homicide)
-4 are past Emmy winners (Williams, Morse, O'Toole and Tucci)
-5 are Oscar nominees (Williams, Durning, O'Toole, Carradine and Riegert)

Didn't they change the rules after Burstyn-gate that actors had to have a certain amount of time on screen to be eligible? The episode is 52 minutes long. He appears at 11m19s and exits at 14m06s, so it's exactly 2 minutes, 47 seconds.

That new rule only applies to supporting actor/actress in a miniseries/made for television film.

All these rules are dumb! How can you be award worthy for less than 3 minutes worth of work! God, its like they are just giving awards away, its as bad as the 8 minutes Judi Dench was on screen for her oscar for Shakespeare in Love!
Here's when you know you care too much about the Emmys: When I saw Glynn Turman in the list, I was so happy I almost cried. Seriously, that's one of the happiest things about my year, and I've had a really good year. One of the finest performances I've ever seen, in any medium. If you haven't seen his episode, do yourself a favor and go see why it's him and then...everybody else. This race is over; the other guys can stay home. The hard part for Turman was making the Ten; winning should be a cakewalk.

It should be a cakewalk, but these are the Emmys after all and they don't always get it right. He is far and away the most deserving in this category because that performance is simply stunning.

Wow. I wasn't expecting this list (less glamorous in general, which probably explains the lack of postins here), so thanks! I'm still not getting the In Treatment love, especially when it didn't make the top 10 for Drama Series. On the flip side, no Grey's Anatomy guest stars at all? I'll bet Reaser made the female list, but it looks like the academy is really turning its back on the show overall (is Heigl that powerful or has the show really dipped more than I noticed?). Mostly, as expected, a solid list of vets. Final predictions here:
Keith Carradine-Dexter Robert Morse-Mad Men Peter Riegert-Damages Stanley Tucci-ER Robin Williams-Law & Order: Special Victims Unit 6th nominee: Peter O'Toole-The Tudors
