This will surely have a lot to live up to, as this past season was a hot mess mixture of kick awesome and batsh!t crazy, but ultimately produced a terrific winner in the plucky Leanne. She is love, as are her designs (though Korto was my second fave, and the only worthy runner-up).
But this cast seems potentially promising:
Althea Ari Carol Hannah Christopher Epperson Gordana Irina Johnny Logan Louise Malvin Mitchell Nicolas Qristyl Ra'mon-Lawrence Shirin
Qristyl, eh? I love it. Seems like fun. And Christopher is adorable.
Anyway, I'm excited. And you can take a look at some of their design material here:

Yea! Project Runway is back. I will have to depend on my Tivo to tell me what channel Lifetime is. Must remember to reset it to get Project Runway on this new channel....
Last season was a bit of a let down. Even though I did like Leanne and Korto. Hoping to see something a bit more exciting. Mainly in the form of more interesting challenges.
Yeah, especially since The Fashion Show was awful, only the winner Anna made good designs and her and the evil girl Daniela's final collections were the only good ones.
Reco was a Proj Runway Season 2 reject. They showed him making it to the next round, but he wasn;t on the show, thankfully since his designs are not good and his personality is worse, so annyoing.
I'm feeling Irina's designs since she uses a lot of fur, very dramatic, reminds me of modern Dynasty outfits.
Who else from the past Runway seasons are self taught? I read Kara Saun (runner up season 1) is, she used to decorate sets. Uli (runner up season 3) is since she's physical therapist. Keith (season 5) was self taught.
I'm guessing Jeff Sebella is (winner season 3) since he was living on the street and an addict prior to becoming a designer right? I'm guessing Jay Mccarol (season 1 winner) also is self taught? Anyone know?
I'm glad we liked the same people, LadyHathor25. I agree that it was a hot mess, but Leanne's and Korto's general excellence made it my second favorite season, only runner-up to Season 2, with the glorious Daniel Vosovic.
Hm, that'd be interesting to learn, bottomchef. I wouldn't be surprised to learn most of Jeff's designs were inspired during his druggie haze. (I hate him. He made some FUGLY clothing and that final runway was like a nightmare of awful, walking bathroom wallpaper. Also, he's a shmuck.) Uli should've beaten his ass in a hot second. Irina's furs seem terrific. I hope she finds a way to integrate that tastefully into some of her designs, because one should be weary of the judges and fur; can't appear costumey. I'm glad that you agree that Anna was the only truly talented one. And yeah, Daniela's final line was cool, but Anna was the most consistent. At least in a way, they both technically won. Also, I agree about Reco--he's a PITA (pain in the ass). Sometimes he was amusing, but mostly, I wanted to stab him in the face and laughed at his pre-Finale elimination =).

The lifetime link indicates a number of them are self-taught, like Epperson. Season 2 was the best in terms of designs and personalities. Chloe, Daniel, Santino, Nick, Zulema, Kara were all great.
Season 5 comes in second in terms of talent and personalities for me. Leanne, Korto, Kenley, Keith's Lipstick Jungle dress, Terri Stevens's Olympics outfit and purple dress, Suede's ballerina outfit, Jerrell's makeover outfit, these were standouts. And this was the only Season where I loved all 3 collections that made it into the Finale. Leanne's collection was perfection.
I loved Uli's dresses and I loved her collection when it was first aired. I still hate Jeff's collection, the only pieces I liked were the finale dress and the green striped jacket with pants outfit, which were the 2 outfits he featured in Elle.

Synopsis: The seamless reality show kicks off its sixth season with 16 fresh clothiers competing in fashion-themed heats, designing their ware at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. Series staples Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn return, as do judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia.
Discuss.

I absolutely agree about Jeff. His final collection only feature 2 or 3 standout pieces, while Uli's collection was just impeccable. She should have won based on the final collections, while Michael was my favorite for the season overall (minus the disappointing and tacky final collection).
Anyone gonna watch the Project Runway All-Stars tonight? There are some good past contestants competing, however I don't like how Jeff is the only past winner winning. IT should have been all of the past winners or all past losers (like Top Chef All-Stars).
And Models of the Runway? Since there is no competition aspect to it, I'm not sure how interesting it will really be.

i can't wait to watch i missed my project runway! and i can't wait to see which episode Christina Aguilera is in! i know i've read that the desingers just about faint when they find out they have to design an outfit for her!
I hope the new location and other changes don't make the show less enjoyable. i'm afraid LIFETIME is going to sanatize the show and basically de-gay it for their mainstream female over 40 audience. anybody else worried about that?

Korto should have won the All-Star challenge. While Daniel probably had the best red carpet dress, his collection was not as strong as hers. Her unconventional dress itself would look great on Nicole Kidman on the red carpet. It was sort of shocked to see Uli be in the bottom 4. Sweet P's first dress was good, but the rest seemed outdated.

The rhythms of the show haven't changed from the move to Lifetime, but there's something about this that felt somewhat sanitized, like either the contestants were playing things safe or we just didn't get the off-color edits. This looks like it could be a talented group, but I was waiting for the agitator to get things stirring that didn't really materialize. I thought that they would give the win to the recovering meth addict guy, just to have a redemption arc play itself out since he was given so much screentime with his background reel and breakdown with Tim. I'm glad that the guy from Minnesota won. They played it up that he didn't have the formal training of the others, and that he's had to learn his craft by doing. I could see his design being worn by a couple of artists at the VMAs or the Grammys. Lindsey Lohan didn't embarrass herself as guest judge and actually had some solid critiques to offer the group, but it was a bit of a letdown from the kind of names I was expecting to be guest judge. The weirdo girl that was eliminated that didn't sketch looked like she had it coming, but after Nina said that she admired her as a conceptual artist, I thought that the other guy who sent out the model in the nude gown would go home instead, b/c they would balk at the incomplete design and his excuses. I do think he's capable of more, so better luck to him in the next challenge. Heidi Klum's utterly gorgeous. Glad to have the show back in whatever form.

I am so glad PR is BACK! and i'm glad that it hasn't been de-gayed so to speak. But it did seem a bit tamer than most project runway seasons usually are. There was no villian as of yet? The all-star challenge was nice and i'm glad Daniel won, he's a great designer. I am glad Korto didn't win because of her snotty "that was expected" attitude... she acts like she's so deserving.... i was so happy to see Santino and Jeffery both eliminated first! and i was shocked to see a Uli/Sweet Pea rivarly develop. Sweet Pea had no place in the top 3 i'm sorry... no place.
As for the new season: I'm TOTALLY rooting for Christopher Straub! he is my ABSOLUTE favorite of this season. Not only is he HUNKY, but he can design. But i also love Mitchell, Johnny, Logan, Nicolas, Louise, and so far Irina. Not a fan of Malvin, Ari, Althea or Carol Hannah...
I think Christopher is the cutest contestant this show has had since Jack Mcenroth...
It was great to see all the judges back and diane van frostenburg was fabulous... Lindsay Lohan wasn't terrible either, she had some solid critques and look alert at least. it was probrally taped before she started on a path of insanity... I cannot wait for the Christina Aguilera challenge, i hope it comes up soon!

Yeah, the show didn't miss a beat. The move to Lifetime didn't result in any obvious changes. I agree with previous comments that, so far, no personalities have jumped out.
I would have liked to see if Ari could have toned down her spaciness in another challenge, and I feel bad that Mitchell's model measurements got screwed up. The judges seemed to blame him, but we don't really know if he had enough time to do something good or if that was the best he could do.
The "All-Star Challenge" was fun to watch; I was really impressed with Chris March's work. The judges saw more in Daniel V.'s work than I did, but then again, I'm not a fashion professional.
Hated Korto's attitude, but loved her clothes and I probably would have voted for her to win.
So far, "Models of the Runway" is interesting for the BTS glimpse. However, they keep talking about the girls "competing" for the win, but, really, there isn't much they can do.
Puts a lot more pressure on that one runway walk, though. If their designer is auf'ed they have to hope another designer wants them.

Lifetime to stream "Project Runway" Move marks net's first foray into full-length episode posts by Mike Shields, MediaWeek Aug 20, 2009
Lifetime for the first time will stream full-length episodes of a pair of series, including hit show "Project Runway," recently acquired from Bravo.
The women-dominant network is also planning to offer free, ad-supported episodes of the "Runway" companion series "Models of the Runway" on Lifetime.com following its initial TV airing. Both shows premiere Aug. 20 at 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
To date, Lifetime has shied away from posting complete episodes of any of its series online -- though the network also boasts about 500 exclusive video clips on its site from its multiple series. Many cable networks are equally as cautious when it comes to distributing episodes on the Web -- either on their own sites or via aggregators like Hulu -- as they fear backlash from MSOs, which supply cable networks with carriage revenue.
In addition to the full-length episodes, to help bolster the premiere of "Runway" and continue fans' engagement with show's life beyond its airtime, Lifetime.com has also unveiled the Project Runway Buzz Room. This new digital application aggregates Runway-related Twitter and Facebook messages in one place, allowing viewers to track other fans reaction to the show on a continuous basis -- either on Lifetime.com or through their own Twitter and Facebook accounts. The show's designers, models and previous contestants will also contribute to the Buzz Room periodically, said officials.
Lastly, as part of its wide array of "Project Runway" supplemental content, Lifetime has also landed L'Oreal Paris and Garnier as sponsors of the upcoming Make It Work Sweepstakes. Entrants can weigh in each week during the show on whether the "Runway" judges were correct in their assessments of that week's fashions. The winner takes home a $25,000 grand prize and a trip to New York City to have lunch with "Runway" star Tim Gunn.

I loved the whole ep right until the actual runway show, which was a major letdown. Maybe they all reeled it in and played it safe since it's the first challenge and they don't wanna get auf'd. But come on, this is a red carpet challenge, and they can choose whichever carpet they want as a frame of reference. Where was the high octane glamour? The majestic movie star wattage?
Most of it was so boring, so middle of the road. Even the ones that made the top3 were uninspiring.
Kors was dead on with the "disco/space soccer ball" comment to Ari, and how Qristyl's dress looked like the merging of 2 diff dresses into 1. The print she chose was very loud and colorful, like a Matthew Williamson print, and I'm glad they didn't auf her. Mitchell's original design actually was very interesting, with the smocked neckline, the Victorian, bell sleeves and the taupe to blue effect of the fabric. I don't remember the term for that. I'm glad he wasn't auf'd.
Good one brillianceimmorbid. I actually liked Lindsey Lohan on PR! Her critiques were keenly adept.
All Stars was waaaaaaay more entertaining than ep 1 of PR6. And the fashions were so memorable. I thought Chris March should have won! How cute is Chris March? Physically he's a cutie, and he has such an endearing, gregarious personality. Even the way he bashfully walks on the runway, puts his hands in front and plays down his great designs is very likeable. He's designed for freakin' Beyonce and there's not a hint of ego. Humility and shyness are attractive.
And his designs were phenomenal. It was a Fall collection, but it wasn't rigid, somber or moody despite the greys and the plad patterns. There was movement and it was very stylish with the hoods (very 80s Dynasty) and sleeves. The tights gave his first look a shot of adrenalin. The red carpet gown had all this interesting construction, so I disagree with Nina that it was an overpowering dress. Kors was on the money with the 4th look: there was movement and elegance brought to this hard edged, metallic crocodile material for the skirt and the neckline was so chic and charming.
Daniel's was good too. Definitely very cohesive. I loved the vest, shirt and pants combo. His 4th look was very modern and the way he layered it reminded me of Marni minus the cacophony of colors, textures and prints. What's with Heidi's boob fixation? The athletic shirt and bubble skirt was such a sharp and unique look, but I think it would be a very polarizing look for customers. I wasn't blown away by the red carpet look since it looked like it had borrowed elements from a butler's outfit.
I liked Sweet Pea's buttery leather dress with the pleats in the middle and the fluttery sleeve. The blue gown Korto wore had such an interesting neckline and the silhouette created by the obi belt was fun. She had the best 4th look: the neckline, the texture of the bustier and the skirt with the beading were so good. Her red carpet dress was so boring, and the only thing that made her vest and pants combo pop was the silver beading. But I loved the black/white printed dress with the chic neckline and even chicer silver embellishments at the waist. I was disappointed with Uli's dresses and her attitude.

I loved the All Star episode...everything worked perfectly....I assume Jeffrey was invited because nobody else wanted to be there, I don't get the need to have a previous winner here when all of the others are runner ups or finalists...If there were more winners I would understand, but I agree with whoever said "he already won, send him back to California"...
And thank God they did because his collection was horrible. I don't think Uli deserved to go away, but then again the other four did a wonderful job.
Loved Sweet P, would've loved Chris more with different colors on the legins...
Korto and Daniel got their deserved final two spots. As much as I love Daniel and felt he should've won his season, I think Korto was the obvious winner. I believe she lost because her red carpet dress was just blah, while Daniel's was incredible. I think she lost because of that.
But whatever, Daniel was a deserving winner too...
And the episode was just hilarious too, with Santino coming back with his Tim impersonation, and Chris' laugh is just an amazing thing...
The new season's episode was just blah...nothing too great nothing too bad. The best part was the Samantha Ronson double being there with Lindsay and it was great that she was voted off, she was bound to become the "why is she here?" girl, so it's great that they threw her out right away.
