ETA: Yo, Jay, if you wanted to stay at 11:30, then maybe you shouldn't have kept dropping hints about moving to ABC to compete against Conan! That's why NBC bent and submitted and gave your sorry ass 25% of its prime time lineup. Which has resulted in Sons of Anarchy and The Real Douchebags of Atlanta tying your show in the demo and a CSI Miami rerun trouncing you; among other series-lows.
Talk about revisionist history.

And the way Leno addresses the "11:30" issue... Jesus, unless the context is completely different than it came across, nice way to throw Conan under the virtual bus. So FU right back atcha, Jay.
Remember, IMO he screwed over Letterman to get the Tonight show gig in the first place.

I DVR The Jay Leno show and try to watch him every night. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno stayed NUMBER ONE for years and years and years and maybe NBC got a little panic stricken and could not fathom another network taking him away. Nobody really knows the real deal anyways. There is no solid proof that Jay "hinted" at leaving in a serious manner. He joked about it in some of his monologues.
His show does just fine with certain geographical locales and certain age groupings.
NBC made a deal with Conan Obrien AND Jay Leno five (5) years prior to the switch. NBC was always going to give Jay a project and it became more clear when other networks started pursuing Jay for their late night talk.
Jay Leno did NOT screw over David Letterman for the Tonight Show gig, a decision was made by the network with Johnny Carson's blessing.
It is too bad that Conan O'Brien's ratings are terrible and that Nightline is ruling the time period. I am not a David Letterman viewer. I never watched Conan O'Brien's late show either.
Jay Leno kept NBC Number ONE in ratings for so many years so he must have been doing something right! BTW, Jay has a full audience every single show so nothing has changed with the attraction of The Jay Leno Show.
My whole thing is that they are canceling shows and lying to the press about why they did it.
Southland was axed b/c it was "too grity" for the time slot, but they canceled it b/c of Jay Leno.
I wouldn't mind if a network like FOX where to do this, b/c after nine it is the local news, but when a network is in creative hell, it doesn't make sense to do this, but that is just me.

They have gone down only this year, generally speaking.
No. They've had bad ratings for quite a while. Not just this year.

NBC will rise up to the top!
Cool. Maybe by then we'll have flying cars!
Seriously, are you mentally challanged? We are talking about late-night ratings. DUHH. NBC has been #1 for quite a long time, there. And even today is still #1 in 18-48 demos on most nights.

They're having a field day with this on Nikki Finke's website, but this needs to be repeated here:
"Not sure why he’s bringing this up to affiliates, but I can’t let this statement slide without comment:
'There is enough work out there, so people shouldn’t necessarily be mad at me for taking the 10 o'clock spot.'
"As a TV worker who’s been unemployed for almost eight months: **** you, Jay. If you think you’re not putting people out of work by taking five timeslots off the table, you’re delusional."
