It should be a "legendary" Emmycast. Thesp Neil Patrick Harris is in the midst of cutting a deal with CBS and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to host the 61st annual kudos on Sept. 20. Insiders cautioned that the deal is not yet completed, but all sides are working toward setting Harris as this year's Emmycast frontman as soon as possible.
A CBS rep declined comment late Wednesday.
The "How I Met Your Mother" star (whose character, Barney Stinson, is known for his liberal use of superlatives like "legendary" and "awesome") was a no-brainer of a choice for the Eye after he earned rave reviews as host of the June 7 Tony Awards, which also aired live on CBS. (He also hosted last year's Creative Arts Emmy Awards.)
Having Harris front and center on the kudocast will amount to a promo boost for "Mother," which is set to move into the 8 p.m. anchor slot of the Eye's Monday comedy block the night after the Emmys.
The pressure is on this year's Emmycast exec producer, Don Mischer, to improve the ratings and the critical reception to this year's show. Last year's Primetime Emmy Awards were widely panned for the decision to use five reality show personalities as co-hosts.
In addition to the Tonys, Harris has done awards show duty this year as host of the TV Land Awards and the nontelevised Writers Guild Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. ________________________________________________ Good news, yes or no?

I hope he will still be able to score a nomination!
He was a great host at the Tonys! It sure seems like NPH is the most wanted person in Hollywood now! Good for him! He deserves it! He's awesome!

NPH was the best part of the uneven Tonys last month, though they didn't use him enough. He could really shine as Emmy host, but how awkward it'll be for him when he loses again to Jeremy Piven in one of the first awards of the evening. LoL. But good for him regardless if he gets the gig.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!

I don't know after all that stuff with the sushi and everyone finally realizing what a big dick Piven is, they'll vote for someone else.
This year's Emmys, give some love for The Shield

I just don't understand why Emmy voters don't get sick of the same winners year after year. There are tons of great performances so spread the wealth...I wouldn' mind if they honored NPH this year but if not he will at least make a great host

Sushigate has nothing to do with "Entourage" or Jeremy Piven's performance in it. If that all affects his Emmy hopes, it'll be felt at the nomination stage. If he gets in, which he will, he's in this as much as anyone else to win again. The fourth bias might come into play, but he's certainly still competitive.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!

I am with Wanda Sykes hosting but she might have some stand-up dates already on the schedule and may not be available for the week's rehearsals and show.
On the issue of Jeremy Piven, well, I am not an Entourage viewer and I am not a Jeremy Piven fan either so I have no vested interest in him getting nominated AGAIN or the predicament/dilemma that both Neil Patrick Harris and Jeremy Piven might face should Neil Patrick Harris sign on to be the host of the Emmy's. That situation would be very tense and uncomfortable for both of them. But then again, Jon Cryer could solve that problem by being nominated AND winning Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
I hope that it will FINALLY be Two and A Half Men year to walk up on the stage for award recognition. It is the TOP RATED sitcom on television today and has remained in the TOP 10 in Neilsens Ratings overall for a LONG TIME now. I am a loyal viewer of the show and think the writing really improved tremendously this year around. CBS has given it another 3 year run so viewers can expect to see alot more to come.
I hope that the show will go over better than it did last year around.
