And no the comedy categorey shouldn't be just about laugh out loud funny...comedy can take several different forms and shades
the funniest show on tv should win comedy series every year. that show btw would be the office or how i met your mother
Laugh out loud funny isn't the be all/end all of comedy...and as you can see different people have different opinions of what that is. Going for cheap laughs is very different than being a brilliant comedy.

FYC-Album of the Year: Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night
It's official: Neil Patrick Harris will host the Emmys
In the words of Neil Patrick Harris' alter ego: This could be LEGENDARY.
Harris, who has twice been nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Barney Stinson, the lovable ladies' man on "How I Met Your Mother," will host the Emmys on CBS on Sept. 20.
Harris, who earned critical praise for his hosting of the Tony Awards in June, follows last year's disastrous experiment in which the five reality TV show host nominees led the broadcast as a group.
"After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the prime-time Emmys," Harris said in a press release issued by CBS. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of the show — adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television. But which voice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."
For Your Oscar Consideration: Charlotte Gainsbourg, "Antichrist" - Best Actress in a Leading Role Sharlto Copley, "District 9" - Best Actor in a Leading Role Christoph Waltz, "Inglourious Basterds" - Best Actor in a Supporting Role

Worst kept secret in Hollywood; of course, NPH was going to host it since Ausiello had the first scoop of it. The Emmys went a long way toward fixing what was wrong with last year's show. But we'll find out Thursday if they have the stones to tell HBO no, you're sitting these awards out and letting other more worthy series and actors/actresses get their moment in the sun.
For starters.
