Yeah I found it funny too. Most of the laughter for me come from the smallest child though. Heaton was good here, but for some reason her hysterics didn't work as well as they did for Courtney Cox in Cougartown. If they could calm that down some it would be even better. I also have to say though that I'm not really interested in her job at the car dealership, and I don't think they used Chris Katan as well as they could have either.
Overall i think this show is a keeper though (again based only on the first episode). If ABC could find something to replace that awful Hank (I think Scrubs would be a good fit there)...it might rival NBC's Thursday night line-up

Wow, I was really surprised at how much I liked the Pilot. The ads really didn't impress me much, but Heaton (and really the entire cast) were very likable and down-to-earth. I'd like to think the show will be kept around with Cougar Town and Modern Family. ABC has a great lineup, and if they CAN find a show to replace Hank, Wednesday night could be a great new place for the Comedy Series.

I just watched this. I must say I'm very impressed. Big fan of Patricia Heaton's and not sure she could live up to ELR's status. But she did. Hopefully she can score an Emmy nom with this show.

Blah. There's nothing special about the show. I like the cast, but it is a bland show mixing elements of the classics like Roseanne and Malcolm In the Middle and it falls flat.
This and that horrendous Hank (even though I heart Melinda McGraw) is the albatross that will weigh down it's superior second half (in terms of ratings). Scrubs & Better off Ted (which I have just picked up and love!) can't come back sooner.

It would have been great if CBS had cancelled "Old Christine" cause it would probably be in the Wednesday night lineup with "The Middle", "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town".
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
I'm loving this show more and more every week. Not much is ever said about it here (Cougar Town and Modern Family get all the glory), but I think The Middle is just great. Anybody else watch tonight? Anybody else watching at all? =)
I DVRed it since I'm out of town. I love this show. Patricia Heaton is fantastic. Neil Flynn is wonderfully dry. The kids are such fun to watch. I think things will gel even more as the series goes on. The Emmys loved Heaton on ELR, I wonder if they will on this show. I think she, and Courteney Cox Arquette, could give ABC 2 Lead Actress noms.

This week's episode was definitely the show's best. Loved it all. All kids were great. Atticus Shaffer really nailed it in this episode, the weird kid act wasn't quite getting great because of his acting, but this episode he was pretty good. Several scenes were just hilarious.
Charlie McDermott was also very good.
There's a lot going for this show, I think Heaton, Flynn and the kids are amazing. Too bad it doesn't get talked about much, it's like Malcom in the Middle in 2003, 2004 when it was still good but nobody cared.
In a perfect world every game could go from starter to Mo (though) I don't like these 6 out Saves. Law of averages says he'll eventually blow one...yes even Mo. Same goes for the Phils. They don't want to go to middle relief either. It's not like they got some stud in the pen frothing to get in there for the 5th inning. If you have to go to middle relief usually your team is losing or your in the midst of a slugfest that can go either way. __________________________________________________________________________ herbal skin care products | washington dui | buy cheap eq 2 plat | chevy dealers indianapolis

Now that would be a good Wednesday line up. I would have been okay had they not canceled Samantha Who too, meaning anything but Hank.
I hope The Office wins as Best Comedy Series for this year's Emmy Awards.

My family watches this show for the kids! My daughter is always quoting Brick. "I've been telling you all week you're my hero!"
I have never really been a Patricia Heaton fan. I could actually do without every adult in this show and just laugh at the kids. I guess we need them for storyline tho so we should keep them around. lol

Last night was hilarious. "The Scratch" is a must see.
WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

I'm gonna watch it tonight. I can't wait. I do enjoy this show. It's not groundbreaking, but I really enjoy it. Maybe it's because of all the shows on right now, this one has characters most like people I know.

Haha, that already is my Wednesday lineup! I just flip the channel from CBS to ABC at 8:30.
I'm not sure what Patricia Heaton did to make so many people on these boards dislike her, but she is doing great work on this show. The Middle has actually been consistently funny week after week whereas Modern Family and Glee have taken several missteps.
The Scratch was a magnificent episode, and boy have they found a gem in the kid who plays Brick. Let's hope he never grows...
