The Bette Midler segments were both bizarre and fascinating. Loved all of that. The undercover stuff with "Holiday Inn Express" was hilarious. OMG. That became funnier and funnier as it went along. Her Grammy hunt is more shameless than I thought it was. Poor Neil Portnow. It's sad that Jessica's left the show. I was kind of anticipating her being apart of Kathy's posse again and in on all of the antics. Tiffany has lost a lot of weight from last year too. Good for her. Great start to the season.

I was slightly worried from the promos that this season of D-List would become too focused on celeb guests and not enough on funny day-to-day Griffin shenanigans, but obviously I was stupid to doubt Kathy. Another hilarious season opener. Can't wait until next week. There's a reason this woman keeps winning Emmys. I'm seeing her in concert this weekend!

Excellent season premire. Yes, it's sad that Jessica is gone, but we still have funny Tom and sassy Tiffany. Kathy was on-fire with her Holiday Inn express stuff, funny indeed. I loved all the Bette Midler stuff---it was interesting how an A-List lives and how a D-Lister lives. I loved the fact that she just picked up and called Stevie Knicks, talk about power. I loved the randomness of Toni "Mickey" Basil being Bette's choreographer that was great.
I loved the whole episode...
Overall Grade: B+
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

Dude, don't worry about missing an episode! This is Bravo! They will rerun this thing seventeen times a week.
Side note: How effing funny-pathetic is Bravo for how they're milking their Real Housewives franchise? The Never-Before-Seen Footage episode! The Never-Before-Seen Footage, Part 2 episode! The Lost Footage episode! Bravo, enough already.
As for Kathy, there was some inspired stuff. I like that she is tacitly acknowledging that she's not exactly D-List anymore, despite the usual humiliations (like the Grammy receptionist calling her "Kathy Griffith").
The Holiday Inn Express and Grammy stuff felt forced, however amusing.
But the whole Bette Midler segment was really funny. When did The Divine Miss M. become such a crotchety prude? How about when she was gritting her teeth in irritation when Kathy asked her if "Wind Beneath my Wings" was about farting! Who can't crack a smile at that?!
Although it was brilliant when, in the elevator, Bette patted her on the shoulder and said, "If anyone's cable, it's you."
It was a condescending thing to say, but really funny, and kudos to Kathy for rolling with it.
I wish more had been said about why or when Jessica left, though. She was a big part of the show for four seasons.

The weirdo black lady that stood right in front of the camera when Bette and Kathy were singing happy birthday might have been the best part of the episode. Just crazily awesome and bizarre all at the same time.

I loved it when Kathy called the receptionist at NARAS and pretended to be Miley Cyrus and said she was voting for Kathy and then she called again pretending to be Taylor Swift and she almost got caught and hung up the phone, lol.

She needs to get her own show..Or maybe Kathy can bring her on to Team Griffin to Replace Tiffany. This was a good show. Funny..But the Holiday Inn stuff did seem fake, like something you would see on one of those other dumb reality show.
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..
Synopsis: Kathy tries to claw her way to the A-list by networking for a Grammy win for Best Comedy Album; as such, she solicits votes by contacting former Grammy winners, even traveling to Canada for a meeting with comedian and Grammy victor Lily Tomlin.

CLICK HERE for a brief, funny interview with Kathy from the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.
It took a paper from effing Fort Wayne to finally do it, but we FINALLY get a money quote about Jessica's departure:
"Our beloved Jessica has moved on and is engaged to her boyfriend in Arizona, so we miss her desperately, although we’re still in touch. She just kind of has a new life, and I knew I couldn’t keep her forever, as much as I wanted to. We still have my beloved tour manager, Tom, and Tiffany, and I bring them along on my misadventures."
Also, Kathy tells an anecdote about how GLAAD couldn't get any celebs to present her an award (TR Knight finally stepped in) recently. HOWEVER, she has the list of celebrities who turned GLAAD down! She's reading the list on her current tour. Oh, MAN, I hope she reads it on her next Bravo special...

I did not know that Lily Tomlin was gay..This was a good show, but it seems from the previews that every week Kathy will be hanging out with another famous person..I just want the show to focus on her and her life on the B list (She has two emmys and a hit show, girl aint on the D list no more)

Lily Tomlin was amazing, and who knew that Howard the hotel manager/celebrity handler would practically steal the episode away from Kathy in the Canada segment. The Grammy "telethon" scenes felt really forced, but some of the cold calls were good. The Charo one was priceless, and that poor maid that Kathy doesn't even know the proper name of. Loved Kathy and Lily's call to Jane Fonda. "Watch your mouth, Kathy." "Oh yes, Donald Sutherland and I were once lovers." I <3 Jane Fonda. I agree that the show has become more of a celebrity hunt than Kathy's D-list adventures. I miss Jessica, and in her absence they've kind of sidelined Tom and Tiffany too. The Grammy stuff is kind of compelling in its own way just to see how some of that all works. Maybe she won't carry on like the way she did for the PGAs when she loses to George Carlin in the next episode. It was funny too when Christina Aguilera caught Kathy in her lie about Max being cute.
