As we all know, NBC has been having major ratings difficulties in the past several years...
After next season, Law and Order SVU and Medium may not be back. Why? Contracts. Hargitay and Meloni's contracts are up agian, and Arquette's 5 year contract for Medium will also up at the end of enxt season. Yikes!
As these are 2 of NBC's biggest (and lonely) hits (2 of its top 4 rated dramas), what do you all think will happen?

Will there be some hefty raises and re-negotiating?

SVU may go on for another season or so if Hargitay and Meloni leave, but obviously Medium is through if Arquette leaves...

Any predictions on what will happen, and how much NBC is willing to deal to keep two of their only hit shows???

I think they should end Law & Order: Special Victims Unit when Meloni and Hargitay decide to call it quits. I can imagine NBC signing them for another 1-2 years with hefty pay raises. I don't think the network is ready to throw in the towel yet. Also, the audience is so familiar with Benson and Stabler that replacing them would be troublesome, especially to its loyal audience that has followed them whenever the show moved time slots.

Medium has been such a reliable performer for NBC, but the network treats it like crap. Not sure if the show will continue past next season, but there is probably syndication money there, so they'll probably go on another 1-2 years as well.

I agree on both accounts. Hargitay and Meloni will get good deals for another year or two. Medium is already in syndication on Lifetime, but has not reached the magic 100 number of eps. I think it is at 76, which was a result of the writer's strike. It would be around 82 or so. I think that could possibly go for another year. Yes, NBC DOES treat it like crap. It is a solid performer, they hold it until mid season, and it has been moved several times.

NBC: Monday at 10 clearly works best for Medium. Leave it put. It isn't like Heroes and Medium would not do well together and actually make Monday a themed night. I guess that would be too easy.

NBC would be in even bigger dire straights because in additon to SVU and Medium they must worry about:

ER will be gone so they have to fill up Thursdays at 10pm, which will be a major hole to fill--even in it's 14th and 15th season it's still a top 40 show and still gets NBC a lot of press.

Law & Order: a show that is almost always rumored to be ending---and hasn't been at the top of it's game for awhile (creatively at least)---but tons of people watch out of habit.

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!
