I totally agree. I think Kupona will actually be going home. I am worried those quiet Randi/Evan supporters who kept them out of ever being in the bottom three might keep Randi in the contest. That would be a shame because she is good but by the far the least of this great line-up of girls. I hope she goes home and narrowly think she will... that Paso Doble was really embarrassing.

I didn't even know this thread existed! I love this show. My favorite performance was Jason and Janine's, and I also love both group routines.
I like most of the girls, so I have no preference for who should go (Randi, if anyone), but I definitely have less appreciation for Kupono and Evan - especially Kupono who seems like such a weak male counterpart (his solo work is pretty cool though).

I loved the guys' & the girls' group dances...they were both so interesting.
I think Randi & Evan should go home. Kupono had a very interesting solo (IMO) so that saves him from his weaker partner dance. Evan was weak in his partner, had a decent solo, but he stuck out like sore thumb in that end group dance. Really none of the guys really stand out for me too much...I think one of the excellent women should win this year (at least up to this point)
FYC-Album of the Year: Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night
I am hoping it is Randi and Evan or Kupono going home.
SYTYCD season 4 got four Emmy nominations in choreography. It also got nominated for makeup for the Top 10 shows. Can't understand why DWTS and their host can get nominated but not this show or Cat Deeley. Sigh.
Choreo nominations are:
Mia Michaels for "Mercy" -Twitch/Katee danced it.
Tabitha & Napolean D'umo for "Bleeding Love"- Chelsie/Mark danced it.
Tyce Diorio for "Adam & Eve/Silence"- danced by Will/Jessica
Dmitry Chaplin for "A los Amigos"- danced by Chelsie/Joshua

I'm surprised "No Air" didn't get nominated. But it's a tossup between Mercy and Bleeding Love. At least they get choreography noms...it just baffles me that Cat Deeley isn't nominated again.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
I thought "Bleeding Love" was okay. I am not the biggest fan of Tabitha/Napolean's lyrical hip hop. I prefer hip hop with more groove, harder hitting. But, that is the routine of theirs I like the best. I really don't like Mia's "Mercy" routine. Mainly because Twitch doesn't do any dancing in it.
I actually prefer the other two nominees. Tyce's "Adam & Eve" was one of the highlights of the season. And I loved Dmitry's Argentine Tango.

I'm finding this season very interesting because it seems like it's gonna be hard to predict who goes home before the performances. I feel like if someone performs poorly, they are gonna be gone, despite their following. If I had to rank them right now, I'd say
1. Brandon 2. Jason 3. Evan 4. Ade
1. Janette 2. Janine 3. Kayla 4. Melissa
The girls seems easier to predict than the guys.

I hope Ade doesn't go home. I love him. I am considering actually voting for him next week. He killed in that African group number. I can't believe the judges spent the entire time talking about Evan! Crazy. Ade was also fantastic in Wade's group number on Thursday. And he was phenomenal in Mia's "Higher Ground" group number earlier in the season.
I really hope Evan gets voted out. He is so disappointing. I was so hoping he would have been awesome. Alas.
Brandon is fantastic. Love him.
Jason really surprised. Loved him in the pieces on Wednesday.
I'd rank 1.Brandon 2. Ade 3. Jason 4. Evan
But, I am sure that Evan won't be going. Obviously he is very popular.
Girls. I'd love to see Kayla go. She just leaves me cold. Melissa isn't getting challenged at all in the routines. This is starting to bore me.
Janette is my favorite, with Jeanine close behind.
But, again, I think Melissa is probably going to go home.
BTW: LOVED the routine Travis Wall choreographed for Jeanine and Jason. Beautiful. Especially loved the last 20 seconds or so. And he did this on brutally short notice. Congrats to him! He is one of my favorite dancers in this show's history. Glad to see him back as a choreographer.

Very interesting show tonight. After the first hour, I said FOR SURE Melissa was going home and very likely Ade. But then that cancer routine came along...to be honest with you, it was nothing special choreography-wise. As soon as they said the theme of the piece in the rehearsal piece, you knew there was no way the judges could possibly fault it. And sure, the theme of the piece is powerful...but really, the dance was nothing spectacular. Check out Jason and Janine's dance last week. Now that was great choreography danced brilliantly. But for that theme alone, it's probably going to keep both Melissa and Ade safe, which is disappointing. From the girl side, it means that Kayla is probably gone (since Janette and Janine seem almost guaranteed for the finale). I'm not a big fan of Kayla, but she was absolutely outstanding tonight. She was luminous in the broadway piece and wonderful in the Shane Sparks routine...but her ticket is probably up by default.
Guy-wise, it should be Evan going home...but I'm not sure it will be. With Ade getting sympathy votes, I guess it makes Jason more vulnerable...but, once again, Jason stepped it up and was the best male tonight. Evan needs to go. I feel like the judges are starting to give him Phillip-style critique by saying "I thought you'd struggle with this, but you were ALRIGHT!". I really noticed how much he struggled in the group number (and if you noticed, he was the only guy the camera didn't focus on in that routine).
So in terms of performance tonight: 1. Jason 2. Brandon (fantastic routine) 3. Ade (both dances were decent, but his solo was awesome) 4. Evan
1. Janette 2. Kayla 3. Janine 4. Melissa (extremely weak solo, cha-cha/rumba, but the scarf will probably save her)
But unfortunately, my predictions to go home are Kayla and...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the right guy goes home and Evan gets booted.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
Ugh, that cancer dance was so over-rated!!! I know it makes me sound like a jerk, but as a dance, it was just so average. And now, Melissa is going to stay instead of Kayla, who is a brilliant dancer. Thanks a lot, Tyce. Way to eff things up was always...

Tyce's breast cancer routine was nice, and all. But, I agree, it wasn't that spectacular. This show always reacts to pieces like this as if they are untouchable. Like Mia's "Dad died" piece in Season 3.
Actually, I think Mia's "Addiction" routine was much better than this one. And it affected me much more. Oh well.
I predicted Jason and Melissa would go. But, I am not sure. Ideally, I would like to get rid of Kayla and Evan. Neither of them display much passion in their dancing for me. I don't know what Mia was going on about Kayla being such a great performer. She is one of the flattest performers I have seen on this show in a long, long time. Sigh.
Also liked the hip hop by Shane for Jason/Kayla. Glad to see a hip hop piece not butchered this year. Also glad to see Shane's harder hitting hip hop back after WAY TOO MANY silly lyrical hip hop pieces by Tabitha and Napolean.
I am with Nigel that the first half of the show was lackluster and finally in the end we got to the good stuff.
As to who should go...
Evan, Evan ,EVAN!!! I don't care about his pinchable cheeks and sleepy eyes. He is not bad but he is clearly the least skilled of this line-up. Yet I do not think he will be going home which is just ridiculous. The judges were too easy on him, Mia may have ensured he stays with all her praise... even though he may not have needed it, and too hard on other better dancers in the first half of the show. Why must Nigel always blame the dancers when it is the choreographers that provide a boring number? They are paid employees, not choreographing gratis for the goddamn love of the art of dancing! If they screw up, call em on it!
I am worried Ade or Jason will be going even though both are much better than Evan. No one could have pulled off the athletic lifts in the cancer number like Ade so it will be a shame to see him go. He is my prediction though. I do not usually think Jason is as good but I would feel bad for him leaving on his best night... his movement style was very interesting in the zombie number, as if his body was falling apart, and he had the devilish character down pat (loved his little victory/voodoo jig within the number).
On the women front I think it will be Kayla to be going home. She is an excellent technical dancer but lacks soul... does not help that she seems like an airhead in interview segments. Despite her skills she ends up in the bottom a lot and seems to lack a strong following. She is like one of those beautiful, popular girls in school that nobody likes outside of her crew of popular people. Also, worried about Janette. She is always great, probably the best female contestant, but I am worried the Evan partnership may drag her down. People seeing the show will know there was something off about the Evan/Janette numbers and she could be the one to suffer for it rather than him. Ugggh! That is my nightmare scenario.
Based on the first half of the show Melissa probably should go, I would even say she is the most limited of the remaining female dancers, but she was amazing in the Cancer number and even I ended up voting for her- call me a sentimental fool. So I say it is Kayla to go home... which I accept in the sense that SOMEONE has to go.
Loved Brandon's solo! It was hilarious, athletic, sleazy (great stripper crawl) and very cool. Think either he or Jeanine will win the show. Give Jeanine the edge for the shallowest reason of all, she is so pretty, not because she is the better of the two. Or better than the more deserving Janette.

LOL, Pacinofan, you just said a lot of what I was thinking. I loved Brandon's solo, too. I think it was better than his audition solos. This one had a lot more musicality in it.
And yes, I wish Evan would just go home already. I can't believe he isn't ending up in the bottom EVER. This is crazy. He has been so disappointing. I thought he would be much better when he auditioned. Why does he have such a large fan base? I will be so mad if Jason, Ade or Brandon goes home instead of him.
And I hope people don't blame Janette. Like Mia, she is my favorite dancer this season. Love her. The choreography they had was weak and Evan danced it much worse than she did.
Couples: 1. Melissa & Ade- contemporary 2. Brandon & Jeanine- Pop Jazz 3. Kayla & Jason- Broadway 4. Kayla & Jason- Hip Hop 5. Evan & Jeanette- Jazz 6. Evan & Jeanette- Rumba 7. Melissa & Ade- Cha Cha 8. Brandon & Jeanine- Waltz
Should be going home: Evan & ...um, all the girls are great
Bottom 2 girls: Kayla & Jeanette (I think Melissa will be safe because of the cancer number or it would've been her week to go) Bottom 2 guys: Jason & Evan (but Ade could slip in because he doesnt have that big a fanbase)
Going home?... Eeeck, I think it's Kayla and Jason (which is a shame cuz they had a great week and they're fantastic)
Side notes: I like Evan, but I'm so over him.... and Brandon & Jeanine should be the final two.
