I went into last night thinking I was voting for Brandon as he was the best dancer- END OF STORY!
And then Jeanine totally won me over and I voted for her. Both Brandon and Jeanine were excellent overall but Jeanine saved the best for last. She totally threw down the gauntlet in her solo, she basically demanded that America get off their fat asses and pick up the phone, with all those pirouette's (she seemed to do like a dozen). She also took the risk of changing her style the way she melded modern with Latin and tango. Amazing!
Brandon showed off how athletic he was in his solo but it was similar to others he had done but not as good. Just too frantic. Kayla and especially Evan were very same ol', same ol' but I was never going to vote for them anyway.
Jeanine dominated when she had to and I responded with my dialing fingers... much to my surprise.

Jeanine's solo was amazing! Incredible. Her dancing all night was great.
I voted for her nearly the entire two hours. Which is something I never do. I only changed to voting for Brandon for about 10 minutes when I was getting a consistent busy signal on Jeanine's line.
I groaned at all the Evan bashing from the judges. Fools. They are just prompting his fans to vote even more. Heck, even *I* thought Evan was treated unfairly. Especially in that Jive. I thought Evan danced that piece much better than Kayla and he still got bashed. Pitiful.
I love that Wade choreographed a cheerleading routine. LOL. That was awesome. Seriously, I thought that was a super fun routine.
I was also glad to see that for once the all-guys routine wasn't drastically better than the all-girls routine. Actually, I think the girls had the better piece. Shocking.
I wish the audience wasn't allowed to boo. The judges have a right to give criticism. It irritates me when valid criticism is drowned out by booing. I think this just encourages the judges to make generic, inane positive comments instead of giving a real critique. (Even though, as I said, I think the judges went a bit overboard on Evan last night.)
Basically, I am sincerely hoping that either Brandon or Jeanine wins. I truly do not want Evan or Kayla to win. Kayla is simply not as good as the judges say, and I am annoyed by all the pimping. And Evan is one of the least versatile finalists this show has ever had.

I too groaned at all the Evan bashing... and yes I actually agree that he was somewhat better than Kayla in the jive number. I did not like Adam Schenkman being booed for criticizing the jive number. It was weak, and those awful outfits, and not the kind of thing you pull out on a final night of competition. It was likely not going to help anybody no matter how good they danced it. I have no problem going after the choreographers. They are employees of the show and when they screw up you should call them on it.
Also, Nigel's various sex/nudity jokes in regards to the girls were totally creepy and had me groaning. I felt bad for the girls having to smile their way through them. He's like sixty and they are 18 and 19. I mean I totally want to sleep with Jeanine despite usually being into the fellas. I assume you, TentInMyPants and Fighting4Justice feel the same. Everybody does. It is a given. But you keep that sh*t under your hat. Way under. To bring it up is crass. Ever so crass. LOL.
Oh, and my feelings in regards to Jeanine had no bearing on my vote. LOL big time!!!

And I was joking in my last post in case anyone takes offense.
It was Jeanine's solo that got me to vote for her over Brandon. I know he is better overall but she brought it on the last episode and I ultimately felt like supporting that. It was actually a hard decision. I considered voting for both. Still, a little voice inside kept saying- Jeanine, Jeanine, Jeanine. Part of it might also have been that I thought she would have a better chance of beating Evan and I did not want to scatter my vote. Also, I only voted the last half hour of the voting block as I watched the show late on DVR. I thought they would expand voting an extra hour for the finale but they did not. So partially the "So You Think You Can Dance" producers made the decision for me since I did not even have the option to change my mind and vote for Brandon as well. I voted for Jeanine until I could vote no more.

LOL. Hey, I am a heterosexual female and even I think Jeanine is hot. I watched the finale with a married couple. The husband commented on how hot he thought Jeanine was. Wife's only comment was "Yeah, she is." LOL.
Still, it does make Nigel sound like a creep when he goes on and on about it. Yeah, we get it. The show has attractive dancers. There was definitely a creepy vibe to his comments.
I DVR'd the show, too. But, since I saw Jeanine's solo and knew her number before the lines opened, I just started voting for her even before I had finished watching. LOL. I was slightly encouraged to start getting a busy signal for her at around the 1 hr mark of voting. Good omen?
Ok, here's my quick two cents... It should go like this...
1. Brandon 2. Kayla (the best female dancer they've ever had on the show by the way) 3. Jeanine 4. Evan (nice guy but he shoulda gone out a couple weeks ago)
My crazy prediction... 4. Kayla 3. Evan 2. Brandon 1. Jeanine (the surprise dark horse winner)
But hey as long as anyone but Evan wins, I'll be ok with it.
I don't really get why Jeanine is being considered such a "dark horse". Since the top 10, I figured it would come down to either her or Janette. Even when she was with Phillip, you could tell she was a way better dancer and he was just holding her down and you could tell she was gonna explode once the top 10 came...and she did.

I predict Jeanine will win tonight from a mixture of general talent, doing the best on last night's show (especially in the solo department), personality and looks. I think her beauty and even more so her likeability will give her the edge over Brandon. Some may find Brandon c0cky which may cost him votes. His seeming homosexuality may unfortunately cost him some more votes (though I do not know what people are doing watching a dance show if they have problems with gay men). Hopefully they will be the final two tonight and I do not strongly care which one wins though I ended up voting for Jeanine.

Thank god Brandon and Jeanine were the final 2, and yeah, didn't really matter to me who won out of that, but happy to see Jeanine win.
But watching this "best of" of the season...you gotta think about how this season went a little wrong. I think what happened here is that the show lost great personalities in Janette, Jason, and (seeing her again tonight) Randi. We had great dancers in the end with Ade, Melissa, and Kayla...but they had ZERO charisma. I didn't care about them. They didn't put a smile on my face. They were simply great dancers. Watching them again tonight, Jason, Janette, Janine, Brandon, Randi have that spark. I want to watch them. My eyes are drawn to them, and I instantly care about. And thinking about when these people were eliminated...the breast cancer routine threw a big wrench into how the season probably would have gone down and unfairly booted Jason and Janette. Randi got eliminated when they made her dance some Russian thing in a long brown wig. The producers should really be more careful in who they give these dancers to.
I still don't think that breast cancer thing is anything spectacular. That Jason/Janine routine is absolutely mesmerizing, as was that Addiction piece tonight (it was great the first time around, but I dunno...something tonight was spectacular about it) are phenomenal pieces of choreography and dancing. The breast cancer just runs on emotion I think.

I missed last night's episode, but I caught the end of the results:
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
More thoughts later after I watch.

Of the dancers that were left I think the voters got it right. Kayla is a strong dancer but lacked the personality that Janine showed. I have to agree with GH in that Janette, Jason and Randi got pulled out to soon.
My favorite thing about SYTYCD is watching my 10 year old daughter be so inspired! She is a dancer studying many discipline's and I love watching her excitement as she falls in love with routines and dancers. After watching the finale tonight all she could talk about as I tucked her in was not being able to wait to do her first solo this year!

Wonderful finale and I was so glad to see America got the top two right. Either one would have made a great winner but I am thrilled for Jeanine.
There were a few dances I would have liked to see again (the Wade Robson cat burglar routine and Shane Sparks zombie routine come to mind) but the judges mostly got it right in their choices in what to show again. The addiction number and Jeanine/Philip's hip-hop number were even better this second time.

I think Kayla was the best dancer all season long, but on finale night Jeanine and Brandon really brought it so I'm not unhappy about the final result.
I have to say that the Addiction routine was by far my favorite routine this season and it was better the second time around. I hope Mia wins another Emmy for that one!
FYC-Album of the Year: Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night
My favorite dancers were actually Jason and Janette. I would have loved to have seen them at least in the Top 6. They got knocked out too soon.
Yeah, as I mentioned in my post, seeing these 2 again last night in several routines, it made me realize just how charismatic they were. You can discuss who the great "dancers" were of the season, but charisma has to be such a big part of it and people like Melissa, Ade, Kayla, just didn't have it.
I found it interesting that in that "recap" of the season, the only showed one elimination: Jason and Janette. Seems to be the producers feel their absense in the finale too.

I agree, but I feel like the winner should be about who does the best all season long. Jeanine was not an undeserving winner, but Kayla really should have won.

Totally true as well. This piece was incredible last night, and it became my new favorite dance ever on the show.
I was so happy to see Brandon and Jeanine in the final 2. I didn't really care who won at that point. I think both of them were just great all season long.
I never liked Kayla, to be honest. I don't think she was challenged very much. Almost never had anything out of her comfort zone. The Samba is way overpraised. She doesn't move her hips in it. She heavily clunked her way through the disco and jive in the last two weeks. Plus, I felt she had no charisma, and didn't dance with passion most of the time. She left me cold all season.
Anyway, I still wish Janette had been in the finale. I cannot even believe she was eliminated so early. Sunk by that freaking breast cancer routine. Which isn't even all that great of a routine. Ugh.
Mia's "Addiction" piece is far and away my favorite piece of the season. And I didn't even like Kayla and Kupono as dancers. *That* is how much I love the choreography. I think this may be the best piece Mia has choreographed on this show. Every single second of it is incredible. If she can win an Emmy for S2's "Bench" piece and be nominated for this "Door" routine from last season.... well, I am calling this an Emmy routine right now.
Yeah, I think the Addiction routine, Jason/Jeanine's routine, and (unfortunately) the breast cancer routine are locks for Emmy noms.

So, there is apparently a SYTYCD special on Fox on Sept 2nd. Rumored to be a clip show of great routines of past seasons. Which routines would you all like to see? Didn't see Season 1, so I have no ideas there.
Off the top of my head, I would like Heidi and Benji's "Black Mambo" from Season 2. Also, Travis and Heidi's Mia Michaels "Bench" routine. And Benji & Travis finale Shane Sparks hip hop piece. And Wade's Top 10 "Ramalama" group routine.
Season 3's Wade Robson "Hummingbird and Flower" piece. Danny & Lacey's Samba. Neil and Sabra's Jazz. Perhaps Tyce DiOrio's group routine to the "Lioness Hunt". And Wade's Top 20 group routine. Perhaps Lauren and Pasha's hip hop piece, as well.
Season 4... Tyce's "Adam & Eve". Mark & Courtney "The Garden". Katee & Joshua "No Air", Mark and Chelsie "Bleeding Love".
Season 5 Kayla and Kupono "Addiction". Brandon and Janette "Thieves".
I am sure I will think of a few more. Anyone else have routines they want?
Great list, LadyHathor25. There was one from season 3 set to "The Rockafella Skank" with Pasha...and I can't remember the girl's name. I want to say it was disco style.
