I've got a bookcase full of screeners, and I only have until 5pm on June 20 to fill out my ballot for the writing Emmys. I need your help.

Please be ruthless. (Not a problem, I suspect, for this crowd.) If you had to vote for one (and only one) episode for Writing in a Drama Series and one (and only one) episode for Writing in a Comedy Series, what would you suggest that I put at the top of my To Watch list?

Kyra Sedgwick for the WIN!

Comedy - I'll just say please give "The Game" from Desperate Housewives a chance. The show had such a great season and does deserve some mentions in some of the big categories this year. It would be a shame for DH to be overlooked again. Just my opinion though.

Drama - I'm sure "The Constant" from Lost will get some mentions so I'm going to suggest "Ruby" from The Closer. brilliant.

FYC: 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards

G'Day,
helmetz if your bookcase is too full you can always mail me some of the screeners so you have more space (Joking).

I havn't seen alot of the episodes on your lists so I'll be boring and recomend Fun Run for the Office (assuming others will vote for pie-lette) and the Pilot for Damages.

Congratulations West Wing, Emmys most honored drama. 27 Emmys including 4 best drama series

Tough choice for only one but since this has more chance (than my other fav) of a nom then go for:

Drama: House - House's Head
Comedy: The Office - The Deposition

ooooh! this is fun!

DRAMA: Damages - "Pilot"
(this was a no brainer for me. easily one of the finest hours of dramatic television in 2007.)

COMEDY: Pushing Daisies - "Pie-lette"
(quirky, creative, witty, sincere, touching. there aren't enough positive adjectives to describe this episode. though this was a tough choice for me, coz i'm also rooting for 30 ROCK and ENTOURAGE.)

Wow! Thanks for this helmetz. I hope you'll share with us your final decision on what you have made.

DRAMA:
I'm expecting all LOST fans will metion an episode from Lost, so I'm presenting House's Head. It was one of the most riveting hours on TV the past season.

COMEDY:
Well, as for this one, I'm expecting lots of 30 Rock mentions so I'm gonna go with Fun Run from The Office. One of the ebst hour long episodes of The Office. I know it has been a hit or miss with the audience, but the storylines itself were already funny.

FYC EMMY VOTERS!!!

Please consider the following performances:

Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies)
Julia Louis Dreyfus (New Adventures of Old Christine)
Steve Carell (The Office)
Hugh Laurie (House)
Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)
Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)

For the drama side, I'd check out the pilot episode to "Mad Men" ("Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"). It sets the stage well for a stellar debut season, and I think that it'll be the show to beat in a bunch of categories this year.

For the comedy side, I'd check out "30 Rock"'s "Greenzo" episode. It's one of the best and most inventive episodes of the season, and I'd love to see it recognized with a nomination and even an Emmy win.

The Closer - "Ruby"
Big Love - "Kingdom Come"
Brothers and Sister - "36 Hours"

I think all are the best episodes these shows have ever produced.

If I could only vote for one in each...

Comedy
The Office - "Goodbye Toby"

They were able to make an hour long episode that never felt too long and always kept it funny the whole way through. An excellent episode.

(Others I liked include: "The Deposition" from The Office, "Dinner Party" from The Office, "Greenzo" from 30 Rock and "Rosemary's Baby" from 30 Rock.)

Drama
Damages - "Pilot"

A gripping first episode for this teriffic new show that kept me invested for the whole season. This was written incredibly well.

(Others I liked include: "Leave No One Behind" from Friday Night Lights, "-30-" from The Wire, "36 Hours" from Brothers & Sisters and "Six of One" from Battlestar Galactica.)

I love a lot of those submitted episodes, but this an easy choice. Hands down, the best of the field are The Wire's "-30-" and Pushing Daisies' "Pie-lette". Consider yourself informed. Cool

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."
- Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)
