There's probably only room for at most one Housewife this year (with Tina Fey, JLD, America Ferrera and Christina Applegate as likely nominees). Won't the Emmys probably just go for Felicity Huffman again, as she is their favorite and has had some mighty baity storylines this year?

It's a longshot AML. Des[ite being a longshot, I'd say it's still possible. They'd be so lucky if they can get two Housewives in.

That's how I see it. True but unfortunate because I don't think Felicity is most deserving from the show.
Emmys FYC: Lead Actress Comedy Please view the actual tape submissions and reward for quality...
...Not because of buzz ...Not because the nominee has 3 other Emmy noms ...Not 'cause the nominee is a writer so this would be great after the writer's strike ...Not because the nominee starred in a movie this spring.

* Just because they win DOES NOT guarantee them a nomination. Check Felicity Huffman, Debra Messing and others...
That year the nominations were chosen purely by the panel. And the nominees from all the catagories were whack-a-do. Gandolfini and Falco weren't nominated that year. And Cross had an excellent tape with "Next" and she didn't crack the top five.
quote:
* Cross will easily make the Top 10. There's no doubt about that.
Her making the top ten is hardly a duh.
You have the other housewives, ferrera, Fey, Loiuse Parker, Applegate, Friel (who may be overshadowed but is still the only lead actress from her series and is a Golden Globe nominee), Heaton (who can't be counted out simply because she's Patricia Heaton), and Louis-Dreyfus. Ten women that could reasonably get in before Cross.

You're underestimating the popular vote. The academy has clearly worn off of the wives. Ferrera just won last year, so she'll at least be in the top three. Louise Parker is highly respected, and while her tape isn't the best it's good enough to secure a nod. If Cross makes the top ten it won't be any higher than eight and her tape isn't brilliant enough to get her a nod.

Come on, you really think that Cross will be the one left from the bunch? I don't underestimate Longoria, Friel or Heaton but it's almost a given that the three are weakest to make the top 10, not Cross.
Friel Golden Globe nominee? Cross was nominated last year. Did she make it? No. Messing was always nommed by the Globe after her Emmy win but she still didnt make it until her last year. Parker won during the first season, not nominated. As a matter of fact, the eyar when 4 Housewives, and MLP were nommed, no one got an Emmy nom. Credible much huh?
Patricia Heaton is a force, yes. But let's take a look at Brad Garrett. 4 time Emmy winner (twice as many as Heaton's Emmys) and with a weak year for Lead Comedy actor last year, didn't even make it. yes Til Death is an awful show, but the same can be said for Back To You.

Perfectly said. Heaton and Friel are no threat to Cross what-so-ever IMO.

We don't even know what tape Marcia Cross has chosen so how on earth can that statement be made. Who knows what's in store for the finale which has yet to air, which could bring something terrific for any of the housewives. Go ahead and call her a long shot, but I think it's premature to say her tape isn't brilliant enough if we don't even know what the heck she's chosen yet.

Amen. I don't think anyone can be counted out especially when the season hasn't even ended yet. I also don't think MLP will secure a nod on respect alone. I have yet to see her tape (it's on my list of things to do), but from what I hear it's not great. So until this TV season actually ends I dont think anyone has a guaranteed spot and no one can be counted out.
I think Marcia's submission might be the banquet episode and the feud with Katherine where Bree poisons her. Just something I heard. That may change though.

I really hope it isn't. I only remember her in two scenes from that episode, and they weren't that good.
I heard it was leanin toward that one but nothing's definite yet.
there needs to be a poll with all of the season's episodes to see which one people think is the best choice for her.

What I've heard is that we will know Marcia's episode soon.
The banquet episode? Was that In Buddy's Eyes? because that was Eva's episode (and submission), and that would suck for Marcia.

Regardless of her submission, Marcia is no lower than 7th in the top 10. She should be top 5... I think it's clear Julia Louis Dreyfuss, Tina Fey and America Fererra (she has at least 2 totally worthy episodes- the last new episode before the strike where she was hopped up on drugged perfume is killer) will be nomm'd... the question is who fills the last two spots. I'd say it's Christina Applegate and Marcia Cross... Felicity Huffman and Mary Louise Parker would be left in the cold.
I have learned that Marcia Cross submitted Now You Know for this year. Good job isn't it?

Yeah, sorry I forgot to put it down. it's on Boomer's updated list already.
Hatcher, Huffman and the Series still doesn't have any info though.
Delaney submitted Smiles of a Summer Night.
