i think her chances of winning are 10%...however she deserves to, but emmys will barely notice Huffman so i think from this years nominees we will see if the emmys are narrow minded or not...(Lead actress in a comedy series should be (but wont):Fey
Cross
Huffman
Applegate
Dreyfus)

I mean look at past winners in the category. The winners had tapes that rely more on sight gags, slapsticky comedy, and in your face moments rather than just reactionary comedy no matter how brilliant by Marcia.

I mean look at Ferrera; looking at her in character alone is enough to make you laugh. Plus she had physical comedy.

Louis Dreyfus - all about broad humor and slapstick as well.

Huffman- won in her tape where shes slugging her husband and jumping into a pool to get her kids and in Marcia's tape that year Huffmans character threatens to fight another mom at a school function.

In "Now You Know" Marcia has the "oh my baby" scene and the confrontation with the old lady in the mall. All in the same vein as winners I mentioned above. Then she has the dramatic scene with Orson to round things out.

I think its a good choice.

I never really looked at it that way. Now that I think about it Teri Hatcher was nominated for the episode in which she sings at the karoke bar during the first season of Desperate Housewives.

I'm starting to understand why Cross picked "Now You Know".

'Desperate Housewives' is no longer the "hot" show on TV, and Cross hasn't been nominated since the show's first season.

Look at the winners of the past couple years -- either they are on a new show in its first season (Ferrara, Louis-Dreyfus, Huffman), winners who have been nominated year after year, only to finally win and then, in some cases, to win repeatedly (Parker, Messing, Heaton, Hunt, Bergen).

The only exception to this in recent years have been Roseanne Arnold and Jennifer Aniston -- both actresses with a much higher profile than Marcia Cross.

Cross's chance at an Emmy have passed. This year's race will be between Tina Fey, Christina Applegate, and America Ferrara, with Fey the most likely to take the prize.

I think many are cancelling the chances of Julia Louis Drefus this year. She submitted a knock out episode, and is a two time winner, plus, respected.

Sounds like the recipe for another win.

But of course there's Tina Fey hot on JLD's heels. But I think if they're gonna award 30 Rock for acting, it's for baldwin and they'll give Fey a more deserving writing Emmy.

How someone even brought America Ferrera to the topic is really funny.

America Ferrera won't win again. Case closed.

FYC EMMY VOTERS!!!

Please consider the following performances:

Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies)
Julia Louis Dreyfus (New Adventures of Old Christine)
Steve Carell (The Office)
Hugh Laurie (House)
Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)
Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)

Cross was really funny in 'now you know' it'd be a shame that she got left out once again yet Ferrera actually won for a so so episode last year.

Agreed. Sure she's the reigning champ, but she had a really disappointing season. The Golden Globe and SAG noms this year were residual love from the 1st season of Ugly Betty because nothing she has done this season has been award worthy.

It would be wonderful if actresses actually deserving of nominations this year were nominated. Gee what a concept Emmy voters.

Emmys FYC:
Lead Actress Comedy
Please view the actual tape submissions and reward for quality...

...Not because of buzz
...Not because the nominee has 3 other Emmy noms
...Not 'cause the nominee is a writer so this would be great after the writer's strike
...Not because the nominee starred in a movie this spring.

Please view the actual tape and reward for QUALITY.

Remember that after Felicity Huffman won for the first season of "Housewives" she was also nominated for the Globe and SAG for the not so great second season but she was left out on Emmy morning. I feel the same will happen to America this year.

Thanks for bringing that up. Somehow, I just have this sinking feeling that Ferrera will slip in and be nominated anyway. I so wasn't a fan of her two nominations earlier this year for the mere fact that others were doing excellent work this season. The SAG nom was a bit more annoying since it's just comedy actress and so fewer spots were available for the deserving actresses.

Cross has deserved that Emmy for seasons 1,2 and 4..but we'll see what happens, remember that Lauren Graham was never nominated and the woman was brilliant.

I agree Marcia Cross is more than deserving, the same thing I could say about Calista Flockhart in "Ally McBeal", she really deserved it for seasons 1 and 2...grrr!!!!!at Helen Hunt and the Academy!!!

i realy have a bad feeling she wont get in...i hope im wrong but the emmys see the rest of the housewives as sidekicks to Huffman(who in this season is great but no as good as Marcia)...
If Huffman isnt in, then i think no other howsewive will be in the category...

Also, the emmys always put fresh shows even if they are not as good as some older ones so competition is increasing...The real question is: Do the emmys give more than one chance on a show???

The thing that bothers me is that the writers either give Huffman dreck storylines or really insanely baity episodes. Theres like no in between with her character. It's like they just lob her these episodes solely for this purpose.

Like this season alone she had, and beat, cancer, nearly lost her family in a tornado, and got arrested because of a step-child from hell. I mean come on! lol For the so called "normal, relatable housewife" she leads a pretty wild life. Then there was Bang last year where she was nominated for a half-minute long shouting match with Laurie Metcalf.

I like Huffman well enough but I get frustrated to no end that Marcia and Teri both had yet another great season. Yet Huffman will more than likely be the one to get in because she was givin...yet again...a super baity ass episode to submit where as Hatcher and Cross weren't.

Why couldn't they have givin Hatcher a baity birth episode? dunno

I hear you loud and clear. Marcia and Teri were clearly let down this season. Marcia was given one of the stupidest storylines in television history: the fake baby storyline. What on earth was the thinking behind that storyline? Furthermore, DH producers didn't even have the decency to have a wonderful birth episode for Teri. That would have been a great opportunity for her.

At least Eva was given that episode about having to deal with Carlos' blindness. Felicity was given cancer survival, tornado horror and child abuse. This is clearly not representative of a character that is supposed to be the most "normal" or "believable" on the show. DH producers even gave Dana Delaney more to work with having her cry in every other episode. At some points it even seemed like she was being pimped as a lead actress on the show.

Thumbs down to you Marc Cherry more balance is needed next season.

I think the five year flash forward may be helpful to the show to make it like the first season. Bree has an interesting storyline for next season, being the next Martha Stewart, hope it works for her.

Just give Marcia an Emmy and we'll shut up.

well, when she wasnt nominated on seaon 2 and 3 the emmys had a different "excuse" for each one of the seasons...At season 2 she wasnt nominated because they snubbed the entire season and on season 3 marcia's acting was good but not exelent because she was pregnanat and exhausted...There is no excuse for this season...
