They were both really hard, but for two completely different reasons...comedy had too many options but I struggled to come up with many in drama.
FYC-Album of the Year: Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night
New Comedy: Modern Family (However, Bored to Death is starting to get very good)
Lead Actor in a New Comedy: Jason Schwartzmann
Lead Actress in a New Comedy: Courtney Cox - I never have strong opinions about actress categories however.
Supporting Actor in a New Comedy: Ty Burrell
Supporting Actress in a New Comedy: Sofia Vergera
This had made me realize just how little I have cared about new shows this year. I haven't watched past one episode any new dramas this year. What a weak pilot season drama last year.
Maybe this thread should be opened to new actors in returning shows.
New Comedy: Glee Lead Actor in a New Comedy: Matthew Morrison Lead Actress in a New Comedy: Lea Michele Supporting Actor in a New Comedy: Mark Sailing Supporting Actress in a New Comedy: Jane Lynch
New Drama: FlashForward (can I say Virtuality?) Lead Actor in a New Drama: Joseph Fiennes Lead Actress in a New Drama: Mischa Barton (can I say Elizabeth Mitchell?) Supporting Actor in a New Drama: John Cho Supporting Actress in a New Drama: Sonya Walger
The only new shows that I am following are Glee, FlashForward and Modern Family. I watched the pilots for Hung, The Cleveland Show, Archer, Community and Cougar Town.

I wholeheartedly approve the eligibility of "Virtuality" but question your selection of Mischa Barton.

It may seem like a highly questionable choice and it is, but I will defend it. I believe that the only new dramas with female leads on the five English broadcast networks are The Good Wife, Eastwick, Mercy, Trauma, The Vampire Diaries, Melrose Place and The Beautiful Life. I have not seen any of those and am unfamiliar with all of their lead actresses, except for Mischa Barton from The O.C.. It is more of a win by default (although I did not mind Marissa as much as the average viewer).

That is a pretty unfortunate list of shows with lead actresses. Though I don't like their shows, I'd probably give it to Julianna Marguiles for "The Good Wife" and Katherine Moennig for "Three Rivers" because I think she's doing a decent job on a boring show after her terrific role on "The L Word." While I've seen and enjoyed every episode of "The O.C." I definitely consider it an extremely guilty pleasure and wouldn't award Barton as best of anything. Both her character and her performance were a notch worse in "The Beautiful Life."
Regardless, I think we can both agree that there isn't a great number of legitimate contenders for this category, though hopefully that should all change in two weeks with two potential female leads in "V."
New Comedy: "Modern Family" Lead Actor in a New Comedy: Ty Burell- "Modern Family" (playing with category placement) Lead Actress in a New Comedy: Edie Falco- "Nurse Jackie" (if you mean brand new than Courtney Cox- "Cougar Town") Supporting Actor in a New Comedy: Eric Stonestreet- "Modern Family" Supporting Actress in a New Comedy: Sofia Vergara- "Modern Family" (with Jane Lynch- "Glee" and Merritt Weaver- "Nurse Jackie" close behind)
Do not really watch any new dramas. The only dramas I watch at all are on cable.
"Glee" is probably the show I get most excited about but it is hit-and-miss while "Modern Family" is reliably great.
I only watched the first episode of "Bored to Death" but my brother told me it has gotten really good so I may watch a marathon of episode ON DEMAND.

New Comedy: "Modern Family" Lead Actor in a New Comedy: there's not much choice here, so Joel McHale "Community" Lead Actress in a New Comedy: Brooke Elliott "Drop Dead Diva" Supporting Actor in a New Comedy: Ty Burrell "Modern Family" (I consider it an ensemble show so everyone's supporting) Supporting Actress in a New Comedy: Sofia Vergara "Modern Family" (I consider it an ensemble show so everyone's supporting)
New Comedy Series: "Modern Family" Lead Actor in a New Comedy Series: Joel McHale, "Community" Lead Actress in a New Comedy Series: Edie Falco, "Nurse Jackie" Supporting Actor in a New Comedy Series: Ty Burrell, "Modern Family" Supporting Actress in a New Comedy Series: Jane Lynch, "Glee"
New Drama Series: "The Good Wife" Lead Actor in a New Drama Series: N/A Lead Actress in a New Drama Series: Jada Pinkett Smith, "Hawthorne" Supporting Actor in a New Drama Series: N/A Supporting Actress in a New Drama Series: Archie Panjabi, "The Good Wife"
