Originally posted by Boomer: Also, I don't expect Maya Rudolph will be on the February 23 show. She should be in the L.A. area that weekend for the Oscars along with Paul Thomas Anderson. That is just an educated guess, though.
So Boomer, do you think this is finally it for Maya? Will she leave after this season, or will she change her mind once or twice again? Also, is there any word on whether Amy will stay for next season? Thanks
Maya Rudolph only signed a one-year extension, so I think this will be her final few weeks on the show. It is the final year of a long-term contract for Amy Poehler, and she is really in demand for films and possibly headlining her own series. She is probably going to leave in May also, IMO.
Thanks for the info. It is interesting because if both Amy and Maya leave, Kristen Wiig and Casey Wilson would be the only females. Lorne would almost have to get another woman before next season. This would give Kristen more time to shine, because she would be the most recognizable woman on the show.

In addition to Casey Wilson, it appears that Donald Glover will also be joining the cast. They really needed a good Barack Obama impersonator, and he will fit the role well. He is a writer for "30 Rock", member of the Upright Citizens Brigade and has been featured on Conan's show many times.
Edie Falco was going to host? Please, please get her booked back on for this. I'd love to see her showcased here.

Professor Chaos, how does that article "shoot down the Donald Glover rumors"? It says that they have found someone to play Obama but they won't say who it is. It doesn't even mention Glover's name! That doesn't sound like shooting down the rumor to me.
That afternoon, the Chicago Sun-Times declared that SNL's "Fauxbama" would likely be 30 Rock writer Donald Glover. But this is not so, according to D.C. Pierson, a member of Glover’s sketch-comedy troupe, Derrick. “It’s like, someone started a rumor online, basically, and a bunch of people picked it up.” NBC spokesman Marc Liepis shot down the rumor via an e-mail. “Bad intel," he said. "The Chicago Sun-Times ran without confirmation.”

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. So its not going to be Donald Glover, but the article says that SNL made a decision last night on who will play Obama. I wonder who it is?

CNN says Mike Huckabee will appear on SNL tonight.
I'm not a fan of his politics at all (except his Edwards-like populist ideals), but I do admire how he appears on every comedy show (Maher, Colbert, Leno, Letterman, SNL, Conan.)
