Originally posted by Royal Night: MicheBel, did you get to watch many episodes of Damages this season. It allowed Patty Hewes to become very humanized. In particular the episode "They Had to Tweeze That Out of My Kidney" was spectacular. If Glenn Close submits it, or even "Trust Me" she is probably going to repeat. My next comment is going to upset a lot of people but those episodes are just as good as "A Night to Remember" IMO.
While we only get to see a one-sided character for most of the people on the show, I think it has always been good at showing how vindictive but also how human both Patty and Ellen can be.
Well, against my better judgment, I've added Damages to my Netflix queue, though it doesn't seem to be out yet. So I will watch it.
As far as 24, the only character this season who's purely evil is Hodges (but he's almost secured an Emmy nod for it). The only purely good one is Chloe, but she has other issues.
The others swing back between good and evil, or mostly good but doing bad things. Or good at the core, but doing really bad things to avenge a true love (which is good). Or acting good, but really being bad. No one...ok, maybe Aaron Pierce, is 100% good on 24.

I have to say very little of Damages takes place in a courtroom and it is far from your typical lawyer type show (The Practice, Boston Legal, Raising The Bar, etc). And calling close, hurt & harden once great film actors is kind of insulting...they still are. Damages isn't eveyone's cup of tea (which is fine) and it has some faults, but like I said when it is good it is VERY good

im not knocking hurt or harden all im saying is they should stick to movies and let tv actors earn emmys, thats just my opinion, they should be going for oscars not emmys, their better than that.
That's a bit harsh. Look at the level of acting going on in TV, and the potential - the longform of drama, with extended character arcs and complexity upon complexity. Good actors are not 'too good' for TV or the Emmys; in fact, I'd be more likely to suggest great actors are wasted on movies.
