It's definitly goin to be those four w/Hendricks being the fith nominee.
I want Jill Clayburgh to be nominated but unfortunatly I don't see it happening and w/the obvious Mad Men love I can see Hendricks benifiting from it.

Won't Sandra Oh have more of a chance?

Emmys FYC:
Lead Actress Comedy
Please view the actual tape submissions and reward for quality...

...Not because of buzz
...Not because the nominee has 3 other Emmy noms
...Not 'cause the nominee is a writer so this would be great after the writer's strike
...Not because the nominee starred in a movie this spring.

Please view the actual tape and reward for QUALITY.

If they watch the tapes then Hendricks has no chance in hell! If she is nominated then there is something VERY VERY wrong this year!

My thing is I hope they would go for the Grey's girl who had a better yr. (Wilson) and for Hendricks I think she'll be in there b/c of the Mad Men hard on and b/c I can't put in Britton or Jones or hell even Clayburgh (whose my ideal 5th nominee).

Oh has a powerful tape. Sure, her screentime is negligible, but she has range and impact in spades. It also works in her favor since it's a storyline voters are familar with. I doubt she'll be left off.

I actually see this category with 6 nominees. I think Wiest and Clayburgh will be fighting it out for the 6th spot. Though i wouldn't be suprised to see hendricks get swept in on the Mad Men buzz.

And since Jane Alexander is Jane Alexander, she could definitley upset. Isn't her tape really good?

I find it hard to believe that Rose Byrne will rank #1 in the panel vote, and that's coming from a fan of hers. While she was good in the finale, she definitely has a weaker tape than Chandra Wilson or Rachel Griffiths. I haven't watched it since last year, but I remember "There's No 'We' Anymore" being Byrne's best tape, but she didn't submit it. She'll get in I'm sure, but Chandra Wilson has a WINNING tape this year. I think she'll easily rank first in panel voting.

Hoping for a fresh face for the last spot. Hendricks would be a nice addition to this list but if the final spot does come down to a battle between Oh and another lady; Oh's popular vote score will push her to the nomination.

I also think it is very hard to believe that Rose Byrne will rank #1 in the panel vote.

I think she will definitely be nominated, and I believe that Dianne Wiest will be a surprise nominee. Despite the fact that she is a previous nominee, I think Sandra Oh will be snubbed.

My final predictions:
Candice Bergen, Boston Legal
Rose Byrne, Damages
Rachel Griffiths, Brothers & Sisters
Dianne Wiest, In Treatment
Chandra Wilson, Grey's Anatomy

To me this is the easiest category to predict (and will be one of the hardest to predict for a win)...

- Candice Bergen: Boston Legal
- Rachel Griffiths: Brothers & Sisters
- Rose Byrne: Damages
- Sandra Oh: Grey's Anatomy
- Chandra Wilson: Grey's Anatomy

Sure Oh had a week year. But she's been consecutively nominated 3 times and is pound-for-pound the best actress on the show. No way she is getting snubbed.

Though, no way am I predicting her for the win. It's going to be very interesting to see that play out. (Please oh please oh please be Griffiths.)

I don't understand how Rob L. you think Hendricks has a knockout tape I watched it the other day, and it was nothing special at all and I doubt she was high in the panel vote. I doubt she will be one of the five and like someone mentioned if she is nominated based on that tape there is something wrong.

The five
Bergin
Byrne
Oh
Wiest
Wilson
If six then Griffiths

This one seems pretty easy, but I'm more than prepared for two spots to go to the veterans...Weist, Alexander or the weakest in the category, Clayburgh....

I agree with Boomer and Rob with

-Wilson (I think she'll rank high in popular vote and the tape is amazing and my pick for the win. Also she had a stellar season)
-Bergen (pretty much a DUH at this point, plus she submitted this year, so it seems like she wants it which can only help, I doubt they'll say no to her)
-Byrne (I expect...or is that "wish?" Damages to get 3-4 actors in, and specially the ladies. I Don't care about her cheating because let's face it, she's in a tough position if she goes lead, it's completely understandable, not Jon Cryer understandable though....And she was great all season long)
-Griffiths (the easiest one to not-predict. I think she'll be the first one to vow to the other unexpected ladies in the top 10. Her show is not popular with voters, but then again she is, and if she got in last year, I don't why not this year, she's a fantastic actress, great great role and nice tape....I hope they don't leave her out)...

So yeah I agree...I don't know what to do with Sandra Oh, but I almost don't want her in, even if she needs to win eventually, this is not her season, instead of fighting with Heigl, the show's writers should be worried and thankful Sandra Oh didn't pull the same act because she sure had the reasons to do it, she got nothing to do all season.

I do feel voters might go into default mode with this particular category and pick the obvious choices which are Byrne, Wilson, Oh, Griffiths and Bergen. Which is not the worst lineup in the world. I just wish January Jones and Connie Britton (whose show I don't watch that much but recognize how brilliant she is) were here....

G'Day,

Firstly Tom you are way too generous by saying that Byrne "arguably, could've competed in the lead race". SHE IS UNARGUABLY LEAD being the character through which the story is predominantly told and the character which has the most screentime. Just because Close is also a lead and gives a stronger performance is no excuse to commit category fraud. If her character was played by a man he would have submitted himself in the lead race without a doubt. This being said, being on a show with alot of buzz and having a strong tape, Byrne will probably get nominated.

I agree that Bergan, Wilson and Griffiths probably will as well.

I also agree that Wiest or Oh will take the last slot.

However this category has potential for surprise in the form of Hendricks (if she has a great tape) with no clear frontrunner.

I would rule out Gless, Merkerson and probably Clayburn and Alexander.

Congratulations West Wing, Emmys most honored drama. 27 Emmys including 4 best drama series

I agree. I think Bergen, Byrne, Griffiths, Oh, and Wilson are all pretty sure bets. There most likely will be a sixth nominee, so that person will be the only surprise.

OK I'm changin my statement.
If the ATAS is looking for a newcomer in this category its going to be Byrne so I'm taking Hendricks out and putting in Wiest (I'll probably goin to regret doin that but O'well)

Everyone keeps saying they want a newcomer with the usual suspects. Even though she is such a lock, don't forget Byrne is a newcomer.

And as far as "usual suspects" go, Bergen and Griffiths have only received 1 nomination each for their show.

If there are any usual suspects, it will be Oh (3 noms thus far) and Wilson (2 noms thus far).

I think Rose Byrne is way overrated around here. Don't get me wrong, I love her and she was unbelievable in Damages (sometimes, she was even better than Close), but she's not going to rank that high in both tops. Besides, I think her work is too subtle for a category like this.

And say that Dianne Wiest is in here just because of name recognition is a half-lie. It's clear that the Academy loved the show, and Wiest was unbelievable in it. I don't know what she submitted, but if she goes with her episodes from either Week 1 or Week 8, she has a strong shot for the victory.

I've been predicting Jill Clayburgh all year, but with Sutherland out of the Top 10, maybe they are not that into Dirty Sexy Money...

With that said, I guess this will be a battle between Chandra Wilson and Rachel Griffiths. I hope Wilson can finally win her Emmy.

My predictions...
POPULAR VOTE:
Wilson- 1
Griffiths- 2
Oh- 3
Bergen- 4
Byrne- 5
Hendricks- 6
Wiest- 7
Clayburgh- 8
Merkerson- 9
Alexander- 10
Gless- 11

PANEL VOTE:
Wilson- 1
Griffths- 2
Wiest- 3
Oh- 4
Byrne- 5
Alexander- 6
Bergen- 7
Clayburgh-8
Hendricks- 9
Merkerson- 10
Gless- 11

FINAL NOMINEES:
Wilson- 2
Griffiths- 4
Oh- 7
Byrne- 10
Bergen- 11
Wiest- 10
7TH NOMINEE(?): Hendricks- 15

I am just having the chance to see In Treatment and I just watched Wiest's first episode and wow. She is just natural and free. I would be shocked not to see her nominated. I am loving the setup of this show, one on one acting for 30 minutes. Something that most actors will tell you is not that easy. That is why you have a cast of so many, so that every actor has someone else to play off of, but this setup is so intresting to me and Wiest is just perfect. I can't wait to see her next episode. Do we have her episode number yet figured out?

Not yet, but I hope she submitted "Paul and Gina: Week Eight", which is her best episode.
