PLEASE PIPE IN WITH YOUR THOUGHTS about this list below. Pls challenge placements, suggest additions/ deletions/ edits, etc. I need to come up with a comprehensive list like this for The Envelope, one that realistically reflects the state of the top races. (I will add supporting categories later.) NOTE: As far as I know, the actors cited here ARE eligible in these categories. For example, some of you may question the inclusion of Elizabeth Moss in the lead actress race for drama series, but, yes, she's the sole female competing in lead for "Mad Men." That's confirmed.

A Few Of My Notes To Think About:

*Switch out Anne Heche with Judy Greer. MiT is a huge flop on television right now - Heche's chance to shine was last year... Judy Greer is hilarious on Miss Guided playing the guidence counselor we wished was ours and she actually has a pretty big chance!

*I belive Ellen Page is supporting for An American Crime. Also, I'm still puzzled as to why PBS is putting Kim Catrall in lead. There goes her chance at an emmy now...

*I know I have mentioned it in a few threads already, but The Graham Norton Show is hilarious! I think it should be on your list for Variety Series.

*I think The Bronx Is Burning has a huge chance for a miniseries nomination! Switch it out with Sense & Sensibility.

*I have not seen Bernard & Doris, but from what I was told, it is a total bore! You may want to switch it out with My Boy Jack!

*Just to put on your list, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau for New Amsterdam. It is such a cool show, and he is great. You may want to put him in "possible"... i wish "favorites!"

*I don't believe Tom Wilkinson is lead in Recount. Kevin Spacey is. Tom Wilkinson looks like a sure competitor in the supporting actor race for John Adams going up against Oliver Platt for The Bronx Is Burning.

*I think John Tuturro has a much bigger chance than David Oyelowo for a nomination for lead actor - so you may want to do a swap there...

*You may want to also add Jane Horrocks to the "possible" list for Lead Actress in a movie/mini. She was great in "Mrs. Pritchard" as the grocery store manager turned female prime minister of the united kingdom!

*Ernest Borgnine is not a longshot. He got the golden globe nomination, and he is a LEGENDARY actor, and the emmys may want to recognize him in some way, so you may want to move him up.

-Hey Tom, I'm sorry for being so stubborn with my thoughts. I hope you take them into consideration...

Many good suggestions, Bocaboy. TX. But I'm pretty sure about these categories placements, as I said above. Ellen Page and Tom Wilkinson, for example, are definitely lead. You're right about Graham Norton. I shall add that -- plus a few of your other suggestions.

FYC: The Wire

Hey Tom!

For Drama Series, Saving Grace needs to be bumped down to possible or longshot, as oppose to a "favorite." If any TNT series is going to be nominated, it will be The Closer. The rest of the favorites I would agree on. Not too sure about In Treatment. A lot of people on these boards seem to think it has a chance, but I don't think Emmy voters will really go for it, over say The Wire...that is...if they are looking for an HBO series to nominate.

Comedy Series: You're right on the money!

Made-for-TV Movie: I would put "For One More Day" up as a favorite. Its a corny film, but Emmy will probably nominate it.

Miniseries: If you are trying to keep it at 5 to guess the nominees, then keep the list you have. Otherwise, I would add The Bronx is Burning and Tin Man to the list of favorites. Also, I think Comanche Moon might have more of chance and would bump it up to a "POSSIBLE" position.

Reality Comp: I think Survivor and America's Next Top Model should be bumped up as FAVORITES while Big Brother and Hell's Kitchen should be bumped down.

Reality Program: Like the inclusion of The Hills as a possibility. It would be a no-brainer nominee if they deem to actually be "reality."

Variety Series: Bump up Jimmy Kimmel Live as a favorite. His show received a ton of press this year...thanks to the "I'm F#cking Matt Damon" and "I'm F#cking Ben Affleck" parodies.

Drama Actor: Perfect

Drama Actress: Drop Brooke Shields immediately! haha. Seriously though, I don't think she stands a chance. I could see Marg Helgenberger, Kate Walsh, Jeane Tripplehorn, and Mary McDonnell all get in before her. Additionally, I love Chloe Sevigny on "Big Love", but I think Jeane Tripplehorn stands a better chance at getting a nomination.

Comedy Actor: perfect...if Emmy liked Extras then watch out for those Flight of the Conchords boys.

Comedy Actress: You can't be serious about Miley Cyrus, can you? Judy Greer should be bumped up immediately. I actually think she stands a solid chance of getting nominated since they've experienced Greer as a character actress in many films before and on Emmy winning series Arrested Development.

-- Eddie Izzard made the Top 10 last year, Tom.

-- Tripplehorn should be moved to Favorites. Sevigny and Goodwin should be moved to Possibles. Shields, Richardson, and Margulies should be moved to Longshots.

-- Johnny Lee Miller should be moved to Comedy.

Tom, I believe Michael Keaton is listed as Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for "The Company". Chris O'Donnell is the only lead.

Miley Cyrus is popular so if she submits an episode in which she has some talent, it could get her votes. However, I'm also skeptical for the show in Best Comedy Series. I don't think it could happen, but hasn't a kids show been nominated before? I forget. But I think I read it somewhere.

Just a couple of ideas:

- Move up Back to You. It may not be the ideal show, but there are a couple of standout episodes that if submitted, could get the show in the Top 10.

- Does The Wire really have that much of a chance? Even fans don't believe it has much of a shot.

- Tracy Morgan could be a longshot. He had a better shot for the first season, he hasn't had a standout episode this season.

- Kate Walsh should be higher. Her and Amy Brenneman are part of the reason I continue to watch that show.

I think that's about it. Otherwise, great list!

Tichina Arnold's name isn't spelled correctly Tom.

I think Miley Cyrus should be bumped down. Her show is horrid.

You really think Dominic West's chances are that high? After all, how many times and how much have the Emmys payed attention to 'The Wire'?

G'Day, great lists.

However surely William Peterson who is on a past drama series nominiee which has had a lead actor nominated before, he also has had a globe nod and sag win for the role stands a better chance than David Caruso who has himself (as well as his series) been completly ignored by every awards group (including the Emmys) in all major categories.

I would also put Battlestar Galactica which was able to shock with both directing and writing nods last year above: brothers & sisters, the closer, the richies, saving grace, breaking bad, dirty sexy money, svu and nip/tuck.

Heroes (unfortunatly) should also be in the favourites colum ahead of Saving Grace.

I would also put CSI into the possible column since it is a past nominiee and is having a great year, but understand its placement since it has been off the Emmy radar for some time (although last year it picked up quite a few tech nods). perhaps Prison Break should also be on the longshots list.

Hannah Montana seems like a bit of a longshot to me (not really the academy's demographic), and Psych should also probably be on the longshot list.

Consider adding Kim Delaney and/or Catherine Bell to the "Possible" or "Longshot" Best Actress category. "Army Wives" is Lifetime's best shot for a nomination, and I'm sure they'll promote the heck outta it. Plus the start of the show's second season might put it on voter's radars.

For Drama Series i would drop Women's Murder Club, i don't think it's even got a slight chance of being considered for an emmy. it's just not good enough. I would also put Law and Order under possible, because it's had a creative resurgance this season.

For Comedy series, i would say you got most of the list excatly right except Hannah Montanna which i doubt could get in at all-- also i think that show actually competes at the Daytime Emmy Awards-- i know in the past Disney shows like Even Steven's and such competed in the daytime emmy awards becauase they don't air in primetime.

For TV Movie, what about "Sweet Nothing In My Ear" as a long-shot? i bet that it could get in, also i'd add "The Note" as a "longshot".

Reality/Competition Program: i'd put American Gladiators as more of a long-shot than possible.

as for reality non-competition: The hills is a long-shot, not at all possible, nobody would vote for that show.

As for the one's you don't know where to place here's my take: "Oprah's Big Give" should go in Reality/Competition, and i don't think any of the others will be a factor at all.

I also think that Nip/Tuck is not going to be a factor at all--it's past it's prime and has as of yet never managed to get a single major nomination, it is done.

i also think that Brooke Shields doesn't have a chance at all, nor does Juliana Margulies, whose show as low-rated and at best got mixed reviews.

And i would think that Tracey Morgan would be a supporting actor, to me at least Alec Baldwin is the male lead and Morgan is the male supporting character.

For Comedy, Lead Actress, Christina Applegate needs to be placed among the leading contenders, without question.

Also, are you 100% positive that Eli Stone is in the comedy category? because it seems more like a drama to me.

Oprah's show Big Give was awful. Please don't even make it a contender.

Christina Applegate does nothing special on her show.

Nope Miley Cyrus doesn't belong on this list at all. For the sake of mankind, this Miley Cyrus fascination needs to go away.
