I saw the whole season of Mad Men and became a huge fan of the show....HUGE FAN!....not once did I see an Emmy winning tape in John Hamm....Emmy nominee? Yes....winner? Sorry no....Even as a non-watcher of House, Boston Legal, Rescue Me, In Treatment and others I know for sure all others gave much Emmy winning performances than John Hamm...so I would take him out easily of the race for the win......
and one of these days, just like Kiefer Sutherland (and it might aswell be this year) Hugh Laurie will become overdue and have an easy win....
I am so sick of Dempsey being the filler nominee. He hasn't done anything for me that warrents an Emmy nomination this season and he basically stole a spot that could've gone to Olmos, Paxton, or Rhys Meyers. Izzard wasn't really good in his submission and its only b/c of the screentime he has that he chose this tape and if he couldn't get in for the remarkable Pilot he's done IMO unless the show is renew and he has some kick ass episodes for next yr. Chandler is subtle in his submission and the limited screentime hurts him so I don't expect him to get a nomination. I can honestly say that I did not watch this season of Rescue Me and from what I've read this season wasn't as good as the past season so I would be shocked if he gets a nomination.
LOCKS It's obviously Hamm, Laurie, & Spader.
Gurantee I want Hall to get in and I'm sure he will since it was a crying shame that he was snubbed last yr. but if the voter are being p.u.s.s.i.e.s about the content of the show he could be snubbed again but I doubt that they'll snub him 2X in a row.
The final Nominee It's a coin toss between Byrne & Cranston. I'm predicting Byrne but as long as one or both are in that all that matters.

Agreed. Hall should really be going on to his third consecutive nomination in this category.
01. Hugh Laurie- House 02. James Spader- Boston Legal 03. Jon Hamm- Mad Men 04. Michael C. Hall- Dexter 05. Denis Leary- Rescue Me
Laurie's going to be the winner, hopefully, but I wouldn't begrudge any of the other 4 a win here, personally.

I agree that those are going to be the nominees, although I expect a 6th nominee to come in the form of Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad. I don't see Byrne making it in for In Treatement. With a lot of new series, newcomers don't always make it in to Best Drama Actor (such as Ian McShane in Deadwood, Hank Azaria in Huff, and if he's nominated this year, Michael C. Hall in Dexter). Jon Hamm seems to be a lock in the category and its already asking a lot of the Academy to include one fresh face in the crowd, let alone two...or three if you include Cranston. Also, I doubt Byrne scored high in the popular vote (def. not above Leary or Cranston), so his tape would have had to score really well with the panel in order to be included. I just think b/w the popular vote and panel, there is no way Byrne can make it into the Top 5, especially over repeat nominee Denis Leary and proven Emmy-nominated favorite Bryan Cranston.

Mr. Tom O'Neil...why "Oh no Spader AGAIN?" I hope he gets the nomination and wins number four, he is brilliant in "Boston Legal" and he does both comedy and drama brilliantly, I don't have a problem with him getting number four...if Helen Hunt won as many as she did, I don't see why James Spader can't get number four...it would be deserving anyway!! If Hugh Laurie wins I'll be glad for him too though! Oh well, just my two cents and don't be looking for change LOL!!!! Have a good day!!

A nod for Cranston would be great. I mean, with the character of Hal probably still reletively fresh in voters' minds, perhaps, and the complete 180 that is Hal to Walter, I do see it as a strong possibility.

I think that Bryan Cranston can squeak into the final nominees list over Gabriel Byrne. He has that recent run from "Malcolm in the Middle" fresh in voters' minds, and to compare that to what he does on "Breaking Bad" is the definition of range. If they're thinking that way, I think they'll be swayed enough to send him through. I'm going with these five nominees for lead actor in a drama series:
Bryan Cranston, "Breaking Bad" Jon Hamm, "Mad Men" Hugh Laurie, "House" Denis Leary, "Rescue Me" James Spader, "Boston Legal"
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!

Having seen a majority of the tapes, I'll go ahead and say:
1: Hugh Laurie, House 2: Jon Hamm, Mad Men 3: James Spader, Boston Legal 4: Denis Leary, Rescue Me 5: Michael C. Hall, Dexter 6: Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad
You've got Laurie and Spader, who are more or less "locks", for the lack of a better term; both have knockout tapes, one being wildly overdue, the other being a huge favorite. Hamm is the newcomer on a show that has gone over (so far) very well with the voters and he certainly has the buzz to get in. Leary's been nominated twice before, and wether you like Rescue Me or not, he was the driving force behind the season, and his tape isn't half bad. The final two spots are quite a toss up for me: Hall was seen as a shoo-in last year but was snubbed; Cranston's an Emmy fave on a low-rated and much lauded show. Since the latter managed Top 10 placement on his first go and he does have a superb tape, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. As for Hall? I think he has what it takes to get in finally, though I wouldn't at all be surprised if Byrne surprised and took a spot.

Spader, Laurie, and Hamm are more or less the locks in this category.
Hall is brilliant on his show and another snub in this category would be criminal. I think the voters will make up for what happened last year and finally nominate him this year.
The final spot is down to three people...Cranston, Leary, and Byrne. Leary has been nominated in this category before and Cranston is an Emmy favorite. However, the voters are clearly watching In Treatment, since they voted three of the actors in the series into the top 10. I still have a wierd feeling that Byrne isn't getting in. I just don't think he realistically has a chance against two Emmy favorites. I haven't seen Leary's submission, but I heard that he screwed it up, so he could be on shaky ground. That said, I think Cranston will be the one that ends up getting nominated.
Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad Michael C. Hall, Dexter Jon Hamm, Mad Men Hugh Laurie, House James Spader, Boston Legal
