hmm. I really don't see how these are relevant anymore. I mean why should we separate merit based on color. If "white" people had their own awards show, they would be called racists, with people saying "its not fair that you don't allow other races to compete". And we cannot say the Emmy's are for the whites, because other nationalities wouldn't be allowed to contend, just like white (or any other nationality for that matter) can't compete in the Naacp awards.
Hopefully people will be able to accept everyone for who they are and will not focus on their color.

non-blacks compete at the NAACP awards. Sandra Oh has been nommed by them before as has America Ferrera(who is a winner).
I really think these awards are about awarding underrepresented groups in television. I think that's fine. I also find it interesting that people don't complain about the GLADD awards in the same way they do the Image awards.
Additionally, I think when you look at the amount of non-black nominees at this years emmys in comparison to both the actual demographics of non-white actors on television and non-white people in America there is a huge difference. In the acting categories and especially in the writing/directing/producing categories.
And, if you look at the emmys and search for black women and men in particular, I think it's pretty hard to make it in unless you're named Andre Braugher, Charles Dutton, Cicely Tyson, or Alfre Woodard.
Also, they were one of the few groups other than the TCA to continually recognize "The Wire" with nominations. A show that suspiciously was snubbed by emmy voters countless times in spite of critical raves and its network pedigree.

Yes this may be correct but in the real would this is not going to happen we will never see anyone win a emmy for playing a black gay alien with a drug problem (and I hope you get all four awards references) ,,,,,,,,, So from that point of view I say bring on any award that covers all aspects of life ...........
