Psst...Dana Delany & Jean Smart. (and maybe Jack McBrayer?)

Otherwise, great site!

And I don't mean to use this thread to whore out my own blog, but I will anyway! I just created a blog where I have Emmy predictions and analysis. We'll see who comes out on top, Rob!

Looks really great!

One thing, I would totally be putting Rashad in your top 5 for lead actress in a mini-series. She is totally the frontrunner at this point.

Also, for my own site, I was just wondering where you got your logos made at?

G'day.
Yeah, that looks about right. I'm hoping that Mad Men and Damages sweep.
Looking over the list of top contenders, i think it's safe to say (unfortunately) how many repeat nominees there will be. Not much new blood this year.

I know Friday Night Love is huge around here, but I would place Big Love up there with the logos before I even consider placing Friday Night Lights....It's HBO it's their only drama, they're not gonna let it be snubbed....And this is pretty common knowledge....

Comedy Series seems about right, why wouldn't it be, there's never more than 10 to choose from....I'd like to believe that My Name is Earl deserves a place rather than Californication, I'm guessing they'll fight more for Weeds than for that show....

The Actors look great...why wouldn't they you actually made a list of 15...that's cheating....so much in fact that in Comedy Actor you don't even have "other contenders"....I would take away right now the Entourage boys, Johnny lee Miller, Zach Braff, Tracy Morgan (who will never get in if he insists with Lead) Josh Randor (get over it GoldDerby) and even Kelsey Grammer.

That list of nominees will not have anybody else than Carrell, David, Shalhoub, Sheen, Baldwin (who common, are pretty locked at this point), Duchovny and Lee. Maybe a case could be made for Lee Pace.

As for Lead Actress if you switch Cross and Parker, the first line of pictures will give you your nominees...If there are sixth, then expect Huffman to once again be remembered and Hatcher and Cross who have been better this season to be snubbed yet again. I doubt Friel and Heaton will get in. The other contenders are not contenders at all.

Keith Carradine was credited as guest or special guest. Isn't that enough to rule him out of Supporting? Zach Gilford? Seriously? I guess that if you wanna get fifteen in this category you really have to look deep down that inside that box...

Supporting Actress....well this Natalie Dormer person....common!...That category has more than already decided that it's 5 or 6 women will come from: Moss, Oh, Wilson, Griffiths, Heigl, Byrne, Jones and Bergen if she submits herlsef. Other than that I guess Edelstein could finally get her shot.

Supporting Actor Comedy.....Justin Kirk? For what? Being there? Kevin Nealon had much more to do...

Supporting Actress in a Comedy...I guess Dana Delaney is number 11....those ten seem more than enough....

I love this site and I'd love to be a part of it on the chart you put there like I've been for the past two-three years, but there are some weird choices here....

I agree that it should be on the Top 10 but if it replaces anything it should be Heroes. After the season that they had I'm surprised it's being considered an Emmy contender. It wouldn't even make my Top 20.

you're right...it should be....but there's also the "nobody watches FNL" aspect of the race...I mean I do whenever I can, and so does half the board, but if voters would watch it, it would've been nominated last year...over Heroes for example.

But yeah, I guess one could leave FNL in and take Heroes out and replace with Big Love.

Heroes was easily one of the most dissapointing things in entertainment in 07....

That's very true. And it didn't help them when they picked their Pilot as their submission tape. I may have supported the hell out of it, but it was not their best by a long shot.

I think it will fare a little better this year. It might stay in the same range in the popular vote as they did last year but they have better tapes to choose from instead of just going with their Pilot.

And I do agree about Heroes. I'm kinda glad it isn't coming back this season because I probably wouldn't watch it. I might not even watch it in the fall either. I was expecting a lot this year and I got more than nothing. I don't think I can put myself through that again. The only nomination they deserve this year is for Jack Coleman. He was amazing in "Cautionary Tales" (their only good episode). But since he got screwed over last year for Masi Oka (who became even more annoying this year), I doubt he'll break through this year.

Good list overall. I've always enjoyed your website.

But, i will say that Fischer doesn't really have a tape this season and i don't think she'll be a perennial nominee. Taylor's best tape so far this year is absolutley terrible and she does nothing in it(and I'm a big fan of hers and thought she was gonna take it home last year), so i wouldn't include her in my top 5. Especially since voters have shown that they aren't afraid to leave her off when they think she's not deserving. I think Dana Delaney or Kirsten Chenoweth have better shots at those spots considering their tapes. And if you consider top ten rankings delaney will likely be in the top 5 going based on name recognition and chenoweth will be at least in the top 7 considering her name, her recent oscar performance, and how much everyone thinks she's adorable.

Also, i think bergen will make it in over bryne. She has the name and the tapes. That's assuming she submits herself, but i think she will considering the material she's been given this season. She's emmy royalty and will come in the top 5 on the popular ballot and she has a very strong tape (stronger than her Alzheimer's tape imo) in the season premiere. She was also good in the episode where she defends her granddaughter and the one with scott bakula. And, since BL is casting her father i'd say that she's a virtual lock for the nomination considering she has at least 3-4 tapes to choose from.

I really like your list and i would be ridiculously happy if both cusik and slattery were nominees. They definitely deserve it.

also, Rashad has so much critical buzz for her performance as well as some name recognition and the tony win that i just can't see voters passing her up. But it's hard to say which of the other 5 you mentioned they would pass up.

I've enjoyed your list for years now!

Great job picking the contenders, although I would add Dana Delaney to the main list of Supporting Actress Comedy contenders.

I also think in your predictions you have grossly underestimated Desperate Housewives. I think it has a better shot at Comedy Series than Ugly Betty and at least two of the housewives is in over the tired America Ferrerra and Julia Louis Dreyfuss.

The buzz has died on the last two winners in Lead Actress Comedy so I think they'll be replaced with the much improved "housewives".

There's a lot to digest here, and as soon as I have a few minutes, I will take it all into consideration and make some changes. I like to make this as collaborative as possible.

But I do not agree that Friday Night Lights has no chance. It made the Top 10 last year, let's not forget that.

Also, I was pointed at and laughed at last year when I thought Tracey Morgan was a Top 10 contender. I'm pretty sure he ended up making it into the Top 10 last year.

Let's remember that the Emmy voters are peculiar and they always give us surprises!!!

But one thing I do agree with is that HBO will have a drama series in the Top 10, and I think it will probably be Big Love. And at this stage, it looks like Heroes might be the one that misses out. It's a very difficult decision!!!!

Rob L, thank you for all the work you've done over the years on your website. I've always appreciated and enjoyed it.

I agree with the sentiment that "Big Love" should be included in the top ten. "Heroes" is really vulnerable this year.

I also think Chloe Sevigny should be included with the top contenders instead of Angie Harmon.

Some other performers who may fare well based on their name recognition:
John Larroquette, "Boston Legal"
Christian Clemenson, "Boston Legal" (not really famous, but he won an Emmy for the role)
Jill Clayburgh, "Dirty Sexy Money"
Audra McDonald, "Private Practice"
Swoosie Kurtz, "Pushing Daisies"

and in the tv movie/ miniseries field:
Judi Dench, "Cranford"
Emily Watson, "The Memory Keeper's Daughter"
Catherine Keener & Ellen Page, "An American Crime"
Charles S. Dutton, "Racing for Time"

G'Day Rob L,
I always love checking this site out each year, the preentation and content is always great.

I agree with outsider that Clemenson has a shot and I would put [Scrubs] ahead of Californications as it has made the top 10 the last 2 years (made the top five the year before that) and is one of only 3 comedies still on the air that have been nominated twice in this category.

Congratulations West Wing, Emmys most honored drama. 27 Emmys including 4 best drama series

Agree on Cloe Sevigny, I always forget about the women on the show when it comes to awards, maybe because they've been criminally overlooked in the past. I agree that Sevigny should be on top, it's just that HBO is really going to struggle this year, they basically have Curb as a lock/given/favorite and that's it. They're really gonna work HARD! for it so a push for everything they have in drama is going to happen, they don't have the Sopranos anymore which was a staple of the category. So maybe they'll at least get one of the women in the Top10 aswell as Bill Paxton. All this In Treatment and Tell Me You Love Me talk doesn't convince me at all. If The Wire can't make it, I don't see those two on the list either.

As for the recognizable names, everybody said the same thing about Christian Clemenson last year. And Audra McDonald has a much better shot with A Raisin in the Sun, I doubt Private Practive gets a single nomination.

Good catch with John Larroquette.
