Season 5 premieres tonight.

"Birthday Presence"

A woman who died during childbirth is determined to be reunited with her son. Melinda undergoes immediate C-Section in the Season Premiere. Melinda gives birth to a baby boy who also has the gift of seeing spirits, but with one important difference which will have far-reaching consequences.

Who's watching? Last year I think this show really delivered its A-Game JLH did the best acting she's ever done. And the writing was also stronger. Though I was a bigger fan of the more mystical story arcs in Seasons 1 - 3 which were more intertwined with each other.

JLH was best when she directed herself and I think she will be directing more.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

So, I just watched the premiere and it was not too bad. The whole "five year skip" was slightly awkward at the beginning seeing Melinda and Jim with their son. But towards the middle, the episode started not to focus on him too much. Which was good.
