In reading your interviews with the actors, it always strikes me how intelligent and perceptive most of the actors are. The producers and the network heads come across as clueless and inept.
I've enjoyed Haiduk since she did THE KINDRED. She is doing amazing work on YR, but I wish that MAB had not made other female characters crazy or unhinged because it dilutes Mary Jane's storyline.
she is the bees knees. She is confident, sexy, and a delight on the show. Its amazing because she is a whack job but she carries herself with such strength and a strong POV and isn't 'playing crazy' by any means.
Great interview Nelson. She seems incredibly likable and really cool. I hope shes there for years.

In SH's defense she's still so new, and no one's written about her yet, so she's just responding. In this economy she's probably just happy people like her. She's right — show's never tell actors anymore how they rate in fan mail. They used to — but now in the pay-cut era, no way! After her AMC experience, she's probably gun shy. And she's playing a pretty irredeemable character... I spoke to her and she was geuinely surprised when I told her all of you guys liked her. Listen, new actors to soaps don't know which websites to visit, so I doubt she's seen any reax until now.
Goodness, if that's the case, then this woman must not know how to use search engines! Or go grocery shopping for that matter, since the aisles carry all the soap and tv mags where she can induldge in reading about herself and the show. That would make her a walking contradiction: an egomaniac who doesn't know how to feed her ego (or at least pretends not to). Or maybe this is some kind of performance art. LOL! Then again she's an actress, and on Y&R. It's ok to be so wrapped up in yourself Stace. Time to install the mirrored walls in your dressing room.

The mags praise Y&R (which includes her) without having to interview her or put her on the cover. And she can browse them without having to buy them. So Walton's delusional, Stafford's spews saliva like venom, MTS has strongarmed Rauch and Bell, the Y&R gays (Shackelford, Leblanc and his boytoy) must hate Engen and Haiduk is needy for love. Y&R is a viper's nest of intrigue.

I'll be the first to admit that Y&R is fast becoming daytime's version of "Mean Girls," but bottomchef, i really don't think that Haiduk came across as anything but a sweet, happy person who is enjoying her first strong fan follwing as an actress.
She is amazed that her and her wacko character are so well received. I don't think she sounds needy at all for adoration or attention, but, at this point in her career, she is in awe that she is getting such positive feedback from critics and fans......and don't we all crave for a little bit of that in life from our coworkers and friends??
And let's give Nelson some props here people. He is interviewing "the hot topic" people in daytime we all want to read about. Without interviews like this, this site would be pretty damn boring. He's at least trying to make a dying medium stay alive with all of the juicy tidbits and interviews he gives us.
And Nel, i would love to see interviews with the following people if you can swing it.
Brad Bell ( i myself have at least a dozen questions for him on what he is doing to that show).
Alley Mills Eric Braeden Melody Thomas Scott Billy Miller.

She came across as extremely needy for praise, love and attention. Many men and women go into acting exactly for those reasons since most actors are insecure. Beverlee McKinsey she ain't.
Why would she be amazed that her wacko character is well received? Popular nutjobs are the norm on Y&R. Has she never heard of Sheila, Phyliss, Mary Jo, Tricia, Michael, Matt, etc.? If that's so, then not only is she starved for love, but she's also stupid.
Her work should be fulfilling in and of itself, regardless of "feedback". But she comes across as someone who will desperately campaign for an Emmy nod. Well good luck with that because she needs to be in Y&R's inner circle to score a pre nom. Ask the deserving MTS and deserving Rowell. A Brad Bell interview would be awful since Bloom and Moonves get all the blame. MTS would be great. Despite not being in Y&R's in crowd, she managed to outmaneuver Rauch and MAB. Go girl!

Wow, I really didn't get a desperate or needy vibe from Stacy Haiduk at all. She seemed sweet and kind of girl-next-door earthy. Why should we expect her to think everyone loves her character and performances? A few weeks ago, I was surprised how much I was enjoying them. I much prefer this to an actor who would just assume everyone should and does love their work, whether good or bad. It's always a turn off for me when an actor responds to praise with entitlement rather than gratitude.
And it's a turn off for me when an actor does it for the praise, "love" and the awards. She wants groupies. The character is quote unquote "iredeemable" (not true, no character is iredeemable) and a psycho, but soap psychos are staples that people like. And all she does in the interview is feign shock that she's being praised and want to hear praise everyday. How is thaty being earthy and humble? It's fake. And really sad for someone who's been around since Superboy from the 80s.
How do you know it's fake? Also, I think the comment about hearing it every day was referring to Nelson's voice, not the compliments he had given her. It's earthy and humble that she's not assuming people just like her work and she's flattered by the compliments. She seemed genuine to me, but suppose that would be hard for either of us to gauge based on a transcript.

How do you know it's real? It's all an opinion.

Wow! Now that's reaching.

Now you're really reaching for the moon and the stars. That's reaching because that's such a literal interpretation of her statement. And based on everything else she uttered prior to and after that statement, she's shown how she doesn't want to hear someone's voice (how weird) but that she wants the praise.
Did she say "Oh I like how your voice sounds. You can read the phone book to me and I'd enjoy every syllable." LOL!
Yeah I didn't think so.
