This goes to show that there are viewers who are willing to watch these shows. They just need to be given why. IS GL the only soap that went up in the ratings its last week? I seem to recall the others going down in the ratings.

I think you're right, Crystal, about other soaps never gaining their final week. GL was #3 for the day on Friday, imagine that!! There was an audience out there for GL, but the shoddy storytelling, starting with Maureen's death in 93, lead to its ultimate demise. I wish CBS could see they could still save ATWT, but they are going to have to rid themselves of CG & JP. Of course, that's not going to happen, so get used to last place Oakdale cuz that's where you are going to be until the ax falls.

I think the usual GL fans tuned in, of course. However, I also think non GL fans tuned in at the request of some soap sources to watch out of respect for the show itself respect for the genre of daytime tv. And some, I'm sure, watched out of curiosity to see how it would end.

ANOTHER WORLD had a pretty huge finale week, I believe they beat quite a few shows that were typically ahead of them in the ratings. I wanna say AW landed 4th for its final week, right up from 2nd last place in the ratings. They did very well.

PASSIONS, PORT CHARLES, THE CITY, LOVING and SUNSET BEACH did not get the kind of increases that GL or AW got...which makes sense since all of those shows were unable to amass such a huge following and really none of them were on the same iconic level as AW and especially GL.
