supporting actress
amc-melissa egan(not likely), jamie luner, jennifer bassey, jill larson, rebecca budig
atwt-kelley hensley, elen dolan, katheryn hayes, lynn herring, cady mcclaine
b&b-sadly, not even heather tom
dool-nadia bjorlin-she's the only supporting actress that has had anything, the others are lead
gh-kimberly mccullough, martha byrne(maybe), lisa locicerro(though i'm not a fan)
gl-crystal chappelle
oltl-bree williamson, ilene kristen, kathy brier
y&r-stacy haiduk, tricia cast, maybe sharon case, vail bloom, elizabeth hendrickson

it really depends if people will take haiduk seriously but chappelle with gl's pm could actually win against these actresses with the exception of sharon case, whose character needs to move away from nick. i don't know what to think of case this year. this is anyone's race, someone needs to knock it out of the park soon.

Hopefully the DAYS love continues at the emmys and FINALLY Alison Sweeney is nominated for SOMETHING...she has given the best female performance in daytime thus far with all of her stellar work during the Grace storyline.

Arianne Zuker also is EXTREMELY deserving of some attention.

I wonder how DAYS will submit Sweeney and Zuker, whether they will split them up and put Sweeney as Lead and Zuker as Supporting or put them both in Lead.

I would also like to see Joe Mascolo, Jay Johnson, James Scott and John Aniston recieve some attention for their work as well, during the Tony's death and the DiMera/Kiriakis war.

Shelley Hennig also should be nommed for Younger Actress, she has been very good thus far.

FYC: 2008 Primetime Emmys

Bill Paxton, Michael C. Hall and Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Lead Actor in a Drama Series)

THE TUDORS, DEXTER and BIG LOVE (Drama Series, Directing & Writing)

um...for dool i would add suzanne rogers in there, she's had some good scenes with melanie, mia, and lucas the night that he was drunk and was caught in the explosion at daniel's apartment.

The problem DAYS is having this year with supporting actresses is the problem most shows have all the time. The actresses who would be mentally slotted as supporting are on all the time, so they're really leads. Sweeney, Zuker, and Koslow are leading the charge here, and unfortunately actresses like Suzanne Rogers and Renee Jones, who are consistently fantastic when they have material, don't seem to have enough material to warrant placement.

If prenoms are eliminated, it won't matter, but I'll be interested to see who goes where on Y&R. How many actresses will want to contend as leads (Stafford, Case, Scott, Cooper, Walton, Davidson) before dropping down to join the also-crowded supporting list (with Hendickson, Haiduk, Cast, etc.)?

i understand renee jones hasn't had a whole lot warranting her to be placed anywhere...but suzanne rogers for once has definitely had enough screen time to be supporting, moreso than nadia bjorlin, who is just so much better when she;s lying on a bed not talking, i'm with kate on this one, let her die, or walk into the sunset with daniel, i don't care. get rid of her, she was better in the ghoul girl days!!!!!

Isn't she over 25 now? If she's eligible, then yah, I'd say she has a great tape for younger actress. Thanks for clarifying! :-)

I'd love for Suzanne Rogers to be considered this year. I just don't think she will, because even though Maggie has been on way more than usual this year, and actually participating in stories, most of her appearances may be, ironically, too supporting for people to consider her a strong contender in the supporting actress category.

I agree. Irizary, with his win and especially the scenes when he thought his baby was dead, should pgrade himself to Lead and he'll get a nomination.

I'd put Ellen Dolan in supporting for ATWT, tho I thought she should have been there this year, too. Obviously Goutman likes the younger actresses in that category, tho. But if Marie Wilson gets another pre-nom over Dolan, it's just plain insane.

I totally agree with all said about the younger actor category. Drew Garrett has this thing locked up, and would be suprised if anyone else but him wins, especially with what he has coming up with learning Claudia was responsible for him being shot, and the story with Kristina being abused by Kiefer. Was wondering if anyone thinks the young man playing Morgan, has a shot at a nomination, or if the guy playing Dominic is eligible for this category!

Drew Garrett will win this hands down b/c no younger actor can touch this kid. I would love for the boy who plays Morgan to get a nom too b/c he's been good too.

O'Brien was born in 1985 so she is 24 and still eligible for this year.

If I understand the rules correctly, O'Brien will be eligible for the Outstanding Younger Actress category for the next year's Emmys and for those in 2011. What about 2012? She'll turn 26 in May 2011, so how will that work out? Will she be allowed to go Younger with the material before her birthday or will she have to go Supporting with the material after her birthday?

BTW, daytimeemmyfan, are you planning on doing a list of the strongest contenders show by show for the Younger categories?

Amen brother, Amen. Though I'd rather see Julie Pinson score another Supporting Actress nod.

i am doing a list before the third qtr ends, which is next week, on a list of those that have the material so far in the younger categories this year and those that have the best chances. it is the strongest contenders but really its the unlimited number from each show that has a shot. i already have done the lead and supporting categories.

If she submits something that airs before May 2011, then she can submit in the Younger Actress Category for 2012.

My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.
